Set in a heritage stable on Little Bridge Street, Ballarat, Dyers Steak Stable has been serving the finest quality for over 52 years.

Founded in 1972 by Murray Dyer, Dyers Steak Stable was born from a vision of creating a restaurant in the rustic, iconic landmark of the former stables of the British Queen Hotel, dating back to the 1850s. This historic setting inspired the name and atmosphere of the restaurant.

Dyers Steak Stable became the quintessential steakhouse of Ballarat, renowned for its exceptional food, wine, and service. Often fondly referred to as an "Institution" by Ballarat's elite, it has earned its place as a beloved and iconic dining destination.

    Pretty much the best place in Ballaarat to dine. You know they're doing it well when you look forward to catching up with your host.

    The food was a good, service okay but prices are expensive, since the Dyers sold the business. What happened also to added veggies and a bread on arrival. Campbell also use to take our jackets, staff aren’t as confident and it’s lost some feel sadly. Steak over 200 dollars in this economic environment is ridiculous. I’ll be back though because I like to keep this place as our special occasion spot.

    This restaurant is an institution in Ballarat, having changed ownership since we first went there over 30cyears ago. Understandably, prices have escalated, however the kilpatrick oysters ( $70 per dozen) were over priced for a very average dish. The main courses were about average priced, and were good, not outstanding. Would we return? Only in the company of great friends.

    Scallops were cooked to perfection.. the best I have had in a while .. oysters 🦪 so fresh you could close your eyes and smell the ocean . The steaks we both had were cooked to perfection.. sides of roasted vegetables & chat potatoes so tasty. Dessert were delicious. Great night we will be back .

    Great food and we had an excellent night, the young lady (16yr old trainee) will definitely make the grade, but all staff were awesome. Bring on the lambs fry 😂

    Great Service - staff were friendly and helpful. Chef came and had a chat to us all also. Food was cooked to perfection. Thank you and will be back
