unforgettable experience of hospitality. Our menu showcases the breadth and depth of
cuisine from the region and beyond, designed for sharing and creating a feeling of
warmth in the belly and the heart.
Our vision is to be a vital centerpiece in Oakland and to build a culture of warmth,
inclusivity and community in the area through the gift of Arab hospitality. Through the
power of food, we want to enrich people’s understanding and appreciation of Arab
cuisine and culture and all it has to offer in the Bay Area.
The food was delicious and the setting was lovely. We ordered way too much. The only thing that didn’t thrill us was the salad.
The food was outstanding!!!! Only down fall of the evening was that we order drinks that didn’t come until we we almost finished with dinner!! That was definitely a bummer but they did comp us a dessert for the table as they recognized that it was lame how slow the bar was. Definitely going back!!
Excellent and interesting food. It would be better if you could order from your table rather than going to the counter. Appetizer plate (a variety of humus and egg plant) with great home made pita bread excellent.
Yum! Delicious middle Eastern food. Lots of breads and dipping, stewed meats fabulous!
Great food. Great space. Great service. Skip dessert.
Delightful, tasty, creative middle eastern fusion foods. Wonderful flavors and tastes in the sauces. Overall a very memorable dining experience.
Wonderful lunch -- great for kids and adults! Great flavors -- loved the Falafel wrap, which was flavored with fennel, Fattoush salad with squash, Beet salad, and mezes selection of dips. Fabulous, fluffy and warm Pita bread. Suggestion -- one pita for the mezes plate is not enough -- feels skimpy/nickel & diming that we had to pay for 4 orders of bread for 5 adults and 2 kids! But the menu is great, and we liked the casual atmosphere.
One of the tastiest restaurants in the Bay. I love coming here - the food is tasty, the drinks are stiff, and the staff are friendly. Be prepared to spend a fair bit for a normal-sized dinner, though.
Food and ambience were excellent, but service was not.
The food is excellent, and they were kind enough to put all meat and dairy in ingredients on the side so that I could share with my two dinner companions - I’m vegan, but they are not. The waitress gave us a very good overview of the menu (we told her it was our first visit), and she gave good recommendations on our food choices. It was a wonderful dining experience!
A very memorable evening with great atmosphere, impeccable service and delicious food. And the music!! Perfect. Can't wait to return.
The food was delicious but the service was a bit slow. Also, it was my husband’s birthday and I asked for a birthday dessert/candle in the Opentable notes. Apparently no one read it because we just ended up with a regular dessert after I ordered it. I love the idea of being able to arrange these surprises in advance but the execution didn’t work.
Friend get together,
Lovely place good food and great cocktails
First time there. Everything was perfect, including the delivery to our table of flowers that I ordered that day from a local florist. We will definitely be going back.
Excellent but does not need to be this expensive
Good food. Pita sandwiches were a big meal for lunch. Did not need anything else. Sat outside, nice location.
We came here a month ago before they updated their menu with the new chef.
It was a bit disappointing because we felt the menu and value went down. The fried rock cod was the biggest disappointment. It was 2 pieces of fried fish for $35.
We also ordered 5 different cocktails and only 1 really stood one.
Everyone at the table loved the chicken confit. It was really special
For exotic flavors and a change of pace. Heavy on the garlic in all of the dishes, so keep that in mind.
Amazing foods, very welcoming staff. Would definitely go back.
We have been there numerous times and the services gets better each time. Some of the dishes have been tweaked so it keeps it exciting, but I do prefer the whole fish vs the fried with the fennel. My favorite is the muskhan !
Loved the food. It was great value for trying new Mediterranean food. unfortunately one of our entrees arrive about 15 min after the rest of the food and we were full. That was the only mishap.
Although I enjoyed the muhummara, the breads and the salad, the main courses were not so good. The chicken was under-done, the lamb shank rather tasteless, and the eggplant dish, although tasty, was barely warm. The dessert was good, but I thought the restaurant was overpriced for its value. I was especially disappointed that a restaurant serving Middle Eastern food didn’t offer authentic mint tea, but only bag tea.
Can’t wait to return.
My boyfriend and I went to Dyafa with some visiting family members and it was the best choice! We were able to try almost all of the small hot and cold plates and not one disappointed. Drinks were unique and delicious - even some wines you rarely see. Dessert is a must! We will definitely be back.
Had an incredible dinner with several dishes my wife and I had never had before. The wine list was great and I enjoyed a few glasses of the Planeta Frappato.... a wine I had never had but will be looking for in the future!
I have been here a few times for both lunch and dinner. Usually, I am in love with everything. Arrived to find out that lunch you have to order at a counter, take a number and just grab any open seat. Not sure why I needed a reservation since it didn't matter when we came. The Mezze was fine but the Fattoush salad was wilted and there were sprouts and arugula in it. True Fattoush salad has either of these ingredients.
The service was just okay. I am hoping that this is not a sign that the restaurant is not doing well and that it might close because Oakland needs some good places to eat.
Googled Michelin-starred restaurants in the East Bay &
Dyafa was listed. Not quite sure how. Compared to other Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve visited (Commis, French Laundry, Chez Panisse), this was truly puzzling
Would we return? Very iffy
Definitely more of a date night place, but my business dinner with my guest went perfectly. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their new items. We enjoyed the lamb shank and the fish, which had a fantastic and light “breading” of chickpea flour. Amazing if you are avoiding gluten. So happy with our meal and service.
Dyafa came highly recommended and I've heard owner Reem Assil speak at an event so I wanted to go check it out. Staff had our reservation ready and we received a table immediately. I had luggage on me to travel right after the visit here and staff offered a spot for it as well as to keep an eye on it which was a welcome gesture. The food was great - had the Damascus lemonade and cold coffee, hummus kawarma with chickpea pancake, mujadara and finally sfoof for dessert. Everything was excellent. The mujadara especially was brilliant - fluffy and light yet flavorful and filling. The dessert was a bit too big and I had to leave it behind to catch my flight but I'd have totally taken it to go if in town. The staff were courteous in their service and though we stayed a tad bit longer than their closing time, nobody asked us to leave. The location is pretty neat too - between the train tracks and the water, and the decor as well as music all lend well to the dining experience here. I will be back to take a stab at their dinner menu.
I was very disappointed with Dyafa. I had heard such great things about it. it felt like it was old and tired, no one was making sure the food quality was up to itself old standard and that they hired that staff from the diner down the street. The food was just ok. the menu was very small and the service was unrefined and unpolished. I won't be going back or recommending this place.
Everything was perfect!!!
Excellent Lebonese food. It was our second time there. Good size portions so two can easily split a main. Nice setting by the water in Jack London Square. Go there, you'll like it.
The food was delicious and went far beyond the usual Mediterranean fare of hummus, baba ganoush, etc. The service was excellent. We ate outside, watching the sunset and listening to the seagulls. Doesn't get better than that!!
Great place to dine with a group with varied food preferences. Super helpful staff!
Dyafa serves delicious, flavorful, well-prepared food, and I have gone there multiple time. But I do have to say that my last visit with 3 friends was disappointing and annoying. Our waitress took our order, but that was all of the "waiting on us" that she did all evening. She never looked our way again, so when we needed things, we had to work hard to flag down other people, or to get up and get someone, or we just had to wait. For instance, my friends' shared main course did not come until LONG AFTER two of us had finished ALL of our food. Seriously. We had been done for a long time when their food finally arrived. And we could not get anyone to check on it or even hear that we were waiting. I had chosen the restaurant and was embarrassed that my friends had such frustrations. . .
If they don't give a damn about me as a customer, then I will probably go someplace else.
Delicious food! Wonderful location and ambience. Brought wrong order and immediately replaced. Server brought bill before client was finished eating meal....
One of my favorite restaurants. Setting is great. We ate outside. And I love the wraps! Steph Curry is the best.
Lots of fun but hard to converse with the whiletable
