cuisine and culture and all it has to offer in the Bay Area.
Great place to dine with a group with varied food preferences. Super helpful staff!
Dyafa serves delicious, flavorful, well-prepared food, and I have gone there multiple time. But I do have to say that my last visit with 3 friends was disappointing and annoying. Our waitress took our order, but that was all of the "waiting on us" that she did all evening. She never looked our way again, so when we needed things, we had to work hard to flag down other people, or to get up and get someone, or we just had to wait. For instance, my friends' shared main course did not come until LONG AFTER two of us had finished ALL of our food. Seriously. We had been done for a long time when their food finally arrived. And we could not get anyone to check on it or even hear that we were waiting. I had chosen the restaurant and was embarrassed that my friends had such frustrations. . .
If they don't give a damn about me as a customer, then I will probably go someplace else.
Delicious food! Wonderful location and ambience. Brought wrong order and immediately replaced. Server brought bill before client was finished eating meal....
One of my favorite restaurants. Setting is great. We ate outside. And I love the wraps! Steph Curry is the best.
Lots of fun but hard to converse with the whiletable
I love this place - the staff, the setting and the food. But it took a very long time to get water and drinks, at least until the outside seating cleared out. Might have been a short-staffed day, though no one said so.
We had a wonderful meal with out-of-town guests from NY who were very impressed - and should have been. Every dish - large and small -- was delicious, different, beautifully presented. Friendly and helpful staff. Food came quickly - which was fine. However, drinks came very slowly -- too late to finish two of them. I'm not sure what was happening there.
Some confusion about whether it was all right to park in the semi-empty parking lot right next to the restaurant (the final verdict: don't).
But this is a destination restaurant - delicious, fun, different and a real treat.
Our service was really slow, but everything taste great.
Enjoyed the Muhamarra. My group didn’t finish most items we ordered...not because the quantity was great, but because we just didn’t like them well enough to keep going! We enjoyed trying them. The ambiance was charming.
We loved the food - unusual flavors and combinations that worked beautifully. We were so taken with the interesting options on the menu that we ordered more food then we could eat even after our server warned us that we were probably going overboard. But then we were able to take the leftovers home and relive our delicious dining experience!
This place knocked us out with the intelligent servers, hosts, and bartender of whom all seemed proud of their food and to work there. They were all so nice, and then the food was so great. We've been talking about this place to everyone. Our son recommended it, and now we are. The tastes were exquisite and unique, and have inspired our cooking ever since. And the cocktails, omg the cocktails. I loved the Mexi-Pali. The bartender cheerfully accommodated my request to make me a lemonade that had less sugar, making sure I liked it. I loved it. Go here. Everyone. Go here. Get the sampler of four dips. Get everything.
Don’t let the name worry if you aren’t very adventuresome! This restaurant has wonderfully flavorful food without being cutesy or bizarre! Fresh herbs, greens and spices typical of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food. For a treat try the cardamom iced coffee.
I really wanted to love this restaurant because the food and drinks are really great. I had heard good things for some time but a special occasion finally brought us there. Maybe it was an off-night but the service was harried and sloppy. I don't typically have demanding service requirements but for the experience I had expected and the higher price point, the service should have been better.
Food was incredible. Lots of vegan friendly options. Staff was great!
The food was excellent. We very much enjoyed the Muhammara and the hummus Kawarama, the lamb shank and the maklouba. The batata harra was okay. We had two different cocktails, both of which were delicious.
We had a reservation but were still seated near the bathrooms, which we did not appreciate.
The cocktails were weak on the alcohol! They almost tasted virgin!
The food deserves the hype. Was skeptical at first but the cocktails, hummus, chicken..... amazing!
I love the food here, and the wine pairings. It is a great place to bring people who appreciate good food.
The food is incredible and the service is very kind. The speed at which plates are delivered doesn't always make sense to me but once I get it I'm happy.
This place is splendid, all around. Service, food, ambience, noise level, comfort, place in Jack London Sq. Best dining experience I’ve had in a LONG TIME!
Charming interior, delicious inventive cocktails, next level mezze. The carrots were the surprise stand out but everything was delicious!!
We sat outside which was much quieter. We started with cocktails - a Saz arak and a shams al Bahrain. I would recommend the shams. We ordered the flatbread with vegetables which was delicious. It is necessary to order a pita or chickpea pancake for dipping purposes with the plates. Both were homemade, hot and tasty. Cold appetizers were lebne and mutabal. Hot plates were hummus which was dressed up with lamb bits, roasted carrots and shrimp which was in a tomato broth with chickpeas. We had halvah for dessert which was good but not the best part of the meal. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and very nice.
The Food is not cheap. Fish entree for $42 plus taxes and tips isn’t for every day eating for sure...
The food here is above standard and really special. All dishes have diverse spices and are delicious. I’m happy to pay for such yummy food, but I think most dishes are a little overpriced, which makes a meal for two adults and three kids close to exorbitant. Next time, adults only.
I love the flavors and freshness of the food at Dyafa. The lunches are really good, but dinner is even better. Try everything -- you will be amazed. . .
Unique and delicious food! I am looking forward to returning to Dyafa.
We were first time diners at Dyafa. We were celebrating our Anniversary. We were cordially greeted by the hostess and promptly sat at our table. The server explained the menu. We chose the fattous salad to split and each of us had the lamb shank. Wealso ordered a side of the Za’atar bread. The meal was excellent. The lamb shank was the best we have ever had. Meaty and fork tender. With The couscous and sauce, a perfect meal. Definitely recommend to others.
The food was some of the best I have had in years - literally. Gorgeous seasoning on deliciously prepared meats, lots of fresh vegetables, piping hot housemade pita for dipping, lovely presentation. Staff was friendly and very enthusiastic about the food. Service was leisurely - we enjoyed this because it was a meal to linger over. But it was slower, perhaps by design, than many restaurants I’ve visited. For us on this occasion that was fine. Decor is beautiful and subtle, and you can hear yourself and others talk. We can’t wait for a return visit!
I love Dyafa, both times I've been we've been able to sit outdoors which makes it feel almost like a vacation. The food is delicious and the service so friendly and knowledgable. I was sorry to read however that the owner/chef is leaving. She is the one that makes the food so wonderful.
Delicious food. Great service. Relation location. Fair price.
I would love it if the manager took my request seriously and called me as soon as he checked his staff after my boyfriends glasses went missing.
We had to send the flat bread back twice become it was so salty that it was not edible. The waiter was very nice and took care of us, but having to send a meal back twice is not something that’s ever happened before.
The reservation process was very strained. I got a call after the reservation was made up tell me that I could not have a table.
We had a great 30th birthday celebration on a Sunday evening. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. We ordered as many things as 4 people could eat, a walnut pomegranate appetizer, freshly baked pita, a salad, flatbread, lamb shank, chicken, eggplant, and 3 desserts! Every dish was terrific. Thanks for a great experience!
Absolutely love this place, it’s worth every single penny!! The flavors remind me so much of back home, Algeria! So glad to have you in the Bay Area
Well worth it. Great cooking and great cocktails. But would prefer they had more small dishes and we could eat family style and sample all the goodies.
Delicious dinner for birthday celebration. Attentive staff with helpful suggestions. Excellent choice for mixed group of vegetarians and meat eaters.
We loved Dyafa. We sat outside in a shaded area and looked out at the view. The food was delicious, though were slightly disappointed in the desert. The cardamom whipped cream didn't have a cardamom taste & the cake was a little dry, but still, it was better than average. I would recommend Dyafa for those who are more adventurous and looking for something a little different from the usual brunch/lunch fare. Great ambiance and service.
Very, very delicious food and the servers are nice. The labneh is not to be missed. The cocktails are interesting and worth a try. The desserts are wonky and not on par with the dishes on the main menu. Ask for a seat away from the front door; it gets very crowded there and not conducive to a pleasant meal.
amazing food, good drinks, awesome indoor and outdoor seating.
Delicious Middle Eastern foods, great for sharing. Good location, pleasant decor.
