The service and ambiance was commendable. Our fresh fish dishes were superb. The chef prepared a special dish for my husband who can’t tolerate salt and butter. We will be back.
The food is overpriced and very mediocre. Many of the seafood dishes have heavy cream sauces. The person with me got the blackened tuna which had not blackening or any taste whatsoever, it was just a hunk of bland rare tuna. They were good about getting her something else. I had the crab/shrimp cakes which were soggy and had a few dried out beets and two snap peas underneath it. It was overall a disappointing place.
The food and service were good but the restaurant is very noisy.
We were given a very nice table location and our waitress , Mackenzie was extremely helpful and efficient.
We always enjoy Duval’s
Michael was an outstanding waiter!!!
Great night out with superior food!
Good food, service and ambiance. Really like this restaurant and have been there several times.
Everything about this place is wonderful. The food is amazing and we liked everything we ate. The lobster bisque was exceptional! The service was outstanding, and the ambience was just fine. We will definitely come back again.
Service was great and the food was well prepared and hot. Bisque was tepid, not hot. Drink was okay.
Simply one of the best in the US. And after 50 years of finer dining experience that’s saying something!
Sat at window and watched "the world" go by. Anthony, bartender/waiter - the best. Kenny (soon to be (Ken) was fabulous. Terrific calamari and mussels appetizers. We love Duval's...
Food was outstanding. Appetizers unique, excellent salads and top-notch entrees. Service was also excellent.
I had the crab and shrimp open faced sandwich on rye bread. It was delicious but I did not realize from the menu description that it was a cake with breading. I probably would have chosen something else. My companion had the tuna salad on croissant and it was delicious also.
Wonderful lunch celebrating our mom's birthday. Food was well prepared and extremely delicious. Service was excellent.
We absolutely love it here. Its our favorite restaurant in downtown Sarasota. Its not often where service, food, price, and overall experience hit on all cylinders, but 5 across the board at Duval's.
The Cobb Salad, Bouillabaisse and Gazpacho are some of our favorites. Make reservations.
All aspects of our fine dining experience were excellent as usual for this restaurant!
We were able to get a table and had a wonderful experience! our waiter was excellent and the manager took time to check on our experience. She was charming! The entreés were delicious and dessert was outstanding.
Excellent food and service our waiter was quite personabke
Lunch with friends from the past, turned into a beautiful reunion because of Duval’s. Thanks to Doug for great service and understanding that we needed extra time to reconnect. Would recommend Duval’s for great food and service!
A fabulous evening with incredible seafood dishes. We loved the food and service.
Not up to par this time! There seemed to be a problem in the kitchen. The entree was VERY slow in coming and the fish cry and overlooked.
Duval's is one of if not the best restaurant in Sarasota my red snapper was prefect as was my wife's grouper. We shared a salmon carpaccio appetizer that was out of this world. Woody was our waiter and the guy knew his stuff. The place is well decorated without going over the top.
Excellent food and service. Enjoyed the photo artwork from Thomas Barnny!
Entrees took too long and on three dishes the veggies were under or over cooked. Got the sense something went wrong in the kitchen. Server did not seem sincere in their explanation. Clearly an off night.
We were able to sit outside which was much quieter than inside. The food and service were wonderful!
Duvall paid close attention to my request on Open Table and we were given the exact table I requested. Our waitress was energetic, smart and very knowledgeable about the menu items. She was also very responsive to our needs without “hovering”. Good experience!
Fresh delicious and cost worthy! Would definitely go there again!!
Nice for a neighborhood seafood spot for hanging with friends but not for special occasions.
Food was good, service was good & you can bring your own wine for a 25 cork fee.
Aside from an issue with the kitchen, the service was poor
We were ignored from the time we entered while others around us seemed to be getting better service
The bread was burned
Arrived on time for our reservation and was shown to a table by the busy entrance. Requested another table. The manager came and told us we cannot move as all of the tables are booked. I explained we also had a reservation so please provide us with another table. Cannot do but will provide you with a free appetizer.
The two tables we would have preferred were empty for one and a quarter hours and when seated it was with two people. We were a party of four. All the two sea tables remained empty until we left.
What has happened to Duval’s ? We have eaten there several times but this was the first time this winter season.
We placed our orders and the food took forever to arrive. I ordered the very simple fish and chips. The chips were cold and the fish batter was a heavy , soggy ball of flour that out weighed the tiny pice of cod inside.
Management imcompetence and a kitchen that cannot prepare a simple dish does not deserve to stay in business. My guest dinners were mediocre to say the least.
Will not return or reccomend.
Grouper and calamari were both very fresh and well-prepared. Preparations were good, but not exceptional. We sat outside and service was friendly and attentive.
Food was overpriced for the quality. Burnt crab cake appetizer. Mac and cheese lobster noodles were undercooked and didn’t have much flavor. Seafood scampi was like soup instead of a pasta dish. Service was good though.
We are in Sarasota full time and Duvals is one of our favorites.
Service clueless. One dinner was completely cold. Waiter more interested in serving dessert to table next to us as opposed to bringing a hot dinner. Would not return.
This was our third trip to Duval’s in the past two weeks. That in itself should tell you something. The food is and was very good, the service is top notch and they are extremely busy, You absolutely must have a reservation or you’ll be disappointed and not able to get a table. One of the better restaurant in Sarasota, a definite must for good dining.
We normally love Duval's. But it took an hour to get our food and when it came it was mediocre. We had friends here from New York and were very disappointed.
Duval's has it all - food, service, and ambience! Lily is an excellent server - very personable; very knowledgeable about the food and beverages; and doesn't rush to turn the table. The lobster bisque is the best in town and the lobster Mac and Cheese is definitely worth a return visit!
It’s hard to relax and try to enjoy dinner when it starts off with a 20 minute wait past the time of our reservation. Our visit was made better, however, by the great service provided by our waiter, Michael M. The food was overall very good but not excellent.
The service and food was very good. It’s more formal than I was informed of but I was comfortable.
Outstanding as usual. Impeccable service, sophisticated atmosphere, great drinks and outstanding food preparation!
Great food-portion size great
