A Hell's Kitchen Local serving craft cocktails. Dutch Fred's is a lively cocktail bar serving an elevated food menu in speakeasy style bar.
We don't take reservations from 5pm-8pm. We welcome walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.
**Dutch Fred's is strictly 21 and over after 4pm**
Was seeing a show and wanted something cheerful in the neighborhood. Wow. What a hidden gem! Amazing staff, terrific drinks (love they show what type of glass each specialty drink comes in, genius), and the food was awesome. Best shashito peppers ever (and spicy too).
If the owners are reading this, please open up another location on the UES. We desperately need something this cool in our boring hood. Can't wait to go back and experience their brunch.
Great place with good food, drinks and vibe. Definitely recommend pre or post theatre or just because.
This is my second time here. I enjoyed it both times. Make sure you make reservations because it is always packed. I wish it was a little bigger because it gets really crowded at the bar but it id very lively.
It is nicely decorated and the drinks are excellent. I always enjoy the bartenders who are master artists with drinks and small talk. The food is good bar food. A bit pricey but good.
Awesome place. From ambiance to great food and good service- A great place.
Drinks are on the higher end. Food is good and interesting
The Sunday brunch is advertised as Broadway Brunch, but I wouldn't characterize it as such. There was some very low key live music, but you couldn't hear it throughout the restaurant and no Broadway tunes. Food and drink was good, but if you're specifically going for the entertainment, I'd go elsewhere.
went for brunch on a sunday. The had a small three person string band playing nora jones songs lightly which was nice, but we were seated right in front of them which made conversation difficult. We got there when it opened and amazed at how fast it filled up. We ordered a drink (egh) and three entrees: Pancake - not impressive although big; French Toast - really good and the Avocado Smash - had to send it back to get poached eggs done right since first time they came back hard boiled, but once fixed it was delicious. $80 all in with tip. Service was fine. Place was fun and we'd go back.
Fine for the neighborhood. Our waitress did disappear for almost 30 minutes after our food was delivered, and we had to ask another server to help us get another drink.
Excellent service, fantastic drinks - the sunrise in Lima is to die for! Fabulous food.
Excellent pre-theater spot. Creative and delicious cocktails crafted with care. Great small plate options. Food arrived quickly and was plated beautifully. Bar scene was vibrant but not wild. Would definitely return and will recommend.
Comfortable, easy place.
Perfect for drinks and small plates before a show. Get the eggplant chips!
Went before the theater. Such a pleasant surprise. Food was inventive an delicious. All our severs, both at the bar and at our table were friendly and cheerful. I will be going back for sure!
Very good place along with food and service. 3 person band was excellent and added to experience.
The food was delicious. I would definitely go back when I am in town again.
Loved the ambiance and food at Dutch Fred’s. The Dulce de leche french toast and chicken and waffles were delicious! It was a bit disappointing that service was slow despite only two tables being full at the time and we had to chase someone down for our check which is why I took off a point. Other than that, a great experience and I’d def recommend this place.
Went for lunch before the theatre, didn’t feel rushed and the food was great.
Nice place, modern just off 8th ave. Food was good, especially the pork belly app. Tasty. Burger was good. Beer selection ok. Whiskey selection better. Had widow Jane from red hook Brooklyn. Noise level was higher than average. Service good, not intrusive. Not the cheapest place but it is near Times Square. Would go again.
It started out really great. Service was immediate. After our order of chicken buffalo spring rolls and pork belly tostadas(yummy!) And our initial drinks came, we were ghosted by the wait staff. To their credit, I think they were overwhelmed, because a half hour later they came much more frequently. The noise level is better in the back, but you have to talk loudly to each other even there. Would go back though.
Fantastic cocktails and it was lovely sitting up front by the open window. Both the server and the manager attended to us. Love this place, would definitely go back.
Food and drinks were delicious! It was a little louder than anticipated, so not great for talking over dinner.
Awesome vibe, great drink selection and able to choose many different things on menu to share with the table. Took waitresses suggestions and everything was delicious.
Absolutely delectable drinks for Manhattan prices. Food is good and will set you back just about as much as a couple of drinks. Energy picks up around 6pm so be sure to book a table early if you’re looking to sit down.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for great drinks and some shared plates to much on for a bit of a splurge.
Food was great, especially the eggplant chips, but service was lacking. Had to ask for drinks and silverware. Environment was loud, so expect to speak loudly to hear the other members of your party!
Staff was superior. Upon our arrival the table we had requested was taken and we were seated elsewhere. Once the table was vacated we seated in our requested table which was extremely nice of both the hostess and wait staff. This made the day - not that we got our way but that the staff went out of their way to make our wishes happen since we were very happy in our first seats. The food was delish and we ended with the fried ice cream which was a perfect topper. Live music was lovely addition to our meal. Ayanna was a perfect waitress.
I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant. We went after a show, so it was around 11 pm. The food was good, drinks were good, but the place had the music playing so loud that it was impossible to have a conversation. Even the people at the bar had to shout to each other. I could understand if it was a dance club, but it’s not. We won’t be back.
This cocktail bar was the best spot for a quick light dinner and creative cocktails before we head to the Jacobs Theatre 🎭 for Betrayal which was 5 minutes away on foot. I was able to reserve for 6:30p. Got there about 15 minutes early and most of our party was seated ahead of time. After less than a minute we were seated by the bar, it was a bit noisy to have a conversation and requested to be moved. We were accommodated immediately to the back so we appreciated it very much. It was still rather noisy (maybe because it was a Friday night and it was busy time) but more spacious and comfortable. We have lovely waitresses and waiters. We ordered cocktails and unsweetened iced tea with small plates and appetizers with photographs of safari animals displayed on a wall behind us. Which was fate because we just came back from a safari few weeks ago. Great place to stop by before a show and catching up!
Great drinks, tasty good and our waitress was really friendly. She was helpful in accommodating my allergies etc. Dutch Fred’s was pretty loud, clearly a popular spot, but it was less loud by the back tables (I would recommend those). Worth the trip to Dutch Fred’s if in the area. It was our pre-game spot before heading over to a show at Radio City Music Hall
I attended on Labor Day with a 5:45 PM reservation. I ordered a glass of wine and waited more than 15 minutes for it to arrive. Service was very slow.
Great place for pre theatre. Nice drinks and pretty good food!
Excellent food and a really wide variety of brunch options. The trio that plays during Sunday brunch are really talented and add to the ambiance without overwhelming it.
Good quality food and location to our Broadway show.
Everything was wonderful!!
Great food and drinks! Fun vibe
It was okay. Nothing phenomenal but nothing horrible. Might go back if in the area.
This restaurant is doing everything perfectly. I cannot wait to return!!!
Manager accommodating to my dietary needs. Avocado toast with egg was ok but egg a little over cooked and not hot when delivered to table. They forgot I asked for Salad with dressing on SIDE but able to correct before bringing to table. Didn’t have decaf coffee.
Creative cocktails, extensive menu, phenomenal food, and quality service. Can’t wait to go back and dine again! Thank you Dutch Fred’s!!
Great spot. Noisy bunch of tippsy girls. Otherwise soipoib😎😎
Great boozey brunch spot 👌🏻
