Dutch & Doc's will continue to take brunch reservations on Saturdays and Sundays.
On August 8, 2017, during a full dinner service, an electrical fire broke out in the ceiling above the kitchen at Balena.
Our beloved Balena was taken from us quickly, and without warning.
From November 1st - December 31st, please join us for a pop-up dinner experience that will serve as a celebration of life for Balena at 3600 N. Clark Street (Dutch and Doc’s). A menu highlighting your favorite dishes ranging from the Tagliolini Nero with Sea Urchin and Crab to the Lemon Kale Orecchiette will be available from Executive Chef Chris Pandel, Balena alumni, and friends.
Note: Dinners are Wednesday-Sunday (closed Monday/Tuesday until further notice).

We came in for a light lunch on a Saturday, and the restaurant serves brunch on Saturdays. The menu was a bit limited but I have very good quiche. My friend had a burger because that was the only sandwich option. Our waiter was delightful and very attentive. I would definitely recommend to go to the restaurant it is bright and cheerful.
Went there for brunch service was great food was good for the most part except for
Brunch sucked and was expensive
Great food, great drinks, great service.
Service great, food bad
There were a couple of snafus with the service. Our food took quite a bit longer to come out than expected, and when we asked for salt and pepper shakers for the table, the salt shaker was empty on arrival. The servers were very friendly and attentive though. Food was quite good!
Great menu! Best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had!
Dutch & Doc offers a rather uninspired brunch menu. Flavors not very dynamic and heavy on salt. Service and ambiance are nice, but food just not really worth it.
Menu does not do the food justice. Menu is non descript but the food is excellent. High top tables are not the most comfortable.
I left brunch still hungry, sober (no drink specials), and wanting more. The server was frazzled. I reminded him about my order or had to reorder multiple times. The good was good, but not good enough to go back.
Nice spot in front of Wrigley Field. Portions are not huge, but it makes up with its service and vibe. Cool place for brunch.
Great place in a great area! Lovely location without being too busy... I am sure this changes based on the Cubs schedule! Service and ambiance were both great, but the food could be better. There were 3 of us, but only 1 was in love with their dish. This could be subjective, however, there was only ONE lunch item. Having gone after 1pm, I would have loved to see more lunch items on the "brunch" menu. Burger was the only option and everything else was breakfast.
Very nice atmosphere
Professional and courteous wait staff
Good food options
Prompt service
VERY good breakfast burrito (on menu 2 weekends prior per server)
Excellent value for money.
My wife and I were celebrating her birthday but also enjoying brunch after our first night away from our two month old babygirl. Brunch at Dutch & Docs (especially upstairs) is such a deep breathe and we needed it. And the food was amazing as usually. My wife went with the quiche and I did the chicken and biscuits. Yumm!
Food was delicious. Just had a problem with my friend’s entree, where a hair was found. They fired up a new dish but they didn’t ask if he wanted it or anything else before they came back with a fresh entree
My friends son asked for ketchup for his fried potatoes since he was not served any nor was there any on the table. I also needed ketchup for my burger but figured they would bring him a bottle of ketchup since the table next to us had a bottle. They only brought him a single serving so I still needed ketchup. I asked for a bottle. My whole party was 1/3 done eating but I had no ketchup still. I got up and asked someone to please bring ketchup for my burger and stated that the hold up was holding up my whole meal.
Apparently the multiple requests really ticked off our server since he came and aggressively set down three single servings of ketchup while saying they didn’t have any more bottles. It took about 10 minutes to be able to start eating my lunch. The server never came back to see how we were doing.
I’m a local who walked to the restaurant. Sad I won’t be dining there again. There are too many other options in the area. Service is king.
The food came out fast and was delicious. Overall we had a great time!
We live in the suburbs and made the choice of dining here due to the menu that was on site. When we got to the restaurant the menu was completely different from what was online. Very disappointing.
We ask out waiter and his response was they changed their menu two days before. Then they should have changed the website as well.
We had their Mac and cheese and ribs which were very tasty. Just not what we expected to have for dinner
We sat at the bar so we could watch the Cubs. We ate at the bar and had wonderful service from the bartenders. The food is really great. We recommend the hangar steak and the pork chop plus get the Brussel sprouts with bacon!!
The service (Mike) was outstanding. He took great care of us and made sure my Mom's birthday celebration was really special. Thanks so much.
Birthday dinner and everything was great! To the service, food, overall experience. Great place to visit.
Sunday spaghetti dinner is an amazing value for a family
Honestly this place is so disappointing, food and service wise. The location and space are amazing, but every time I've been here my food has been terrible. Slow service, dirty tables, dirty glasses - not appetizing. Don't get the avocado toast - the smoked salmon on top was completely brown, as was most of the avocado. Waste of money.
Thank you for great seats. And being understanding on reservation time change.
Food and service were great! Definitely will come back soon!
Good food. Nostalgic location with great service. Selections of beer good.
What a great experience. The Mac and cheese was amazing! We loved our waiter. I wanted blue cheese stuffed olives in my dirty martini and he had the bartender make them especially for me. My friend had the fish and chips and she loved it. Great time - thanks!
Pretty much just ok. Didn’t look at menu before going, expected a little bit more. Menu was kinda bar-foody, just a bit higher quality. Probably a little expensive for what is offered. Wasn’t expecting real upscale but it felt more like shorts and t-shirt style place with menu to match.
The food we had (chicken gyro) was really bad. The chicken was weirdly processed and barely edible.
We walked in for our reservation and were seated in an empty part of the restaurant which is tucked away from the street and really not why we booked I asked to move and the host said we don’t really do that. The server came up (Gigi) she seemed like she didn’t want to be there being in the industry I understand but you have to cover that up and make your guests excited to be dining with you. The food and drinks are the same price which is a little weird $14 for a sandwich $14 for a 5 oz mimosa?? Not made with an outstanding cava or requiring any really drink building. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and asked to get something other than spicy potatoes bc I don’t really like too much spicy in the morning after drinking. Gigi looked at me and said “I mean we don’t do that but like what would you want” I said “really anything else some fruit or just regular potatoes” she said “yeah no we don’t do that” and walked away it was just an odd interaction. The food was good. I don’t think I’d recommend or go back to this place based off of service given and the value of the meal.
Had an early reservation prior to Cubs game. Seated at a table in a quiet corner. Nice. Waited 15 minutes, other later arrivals were served drinks and had orders taken, we were never approached by a server. Walked out front door with no acknowledgment from any employee. Very uninspired menu. No loss. Won't recommend. From New Orleans. They would NOT survive.
The food was amazing. But the bartender could care less whether we were there or not. She did not check in or even smile the entire time we were there.
Great food, friendly staff, a neighborhood gem, A great addition to Wrigleyville
You can't beat the location, however, the menu is small and kind of scattered. There isn't a focus on any 1 type of cuisine. Our waitress recommended AGAINST 4 of the menu items on the already-small menu. I ended up with the burger and wasn't asked how I would like it cooked, which is the only question you really ask someone when they get a burger. The garlic knots appetizer seemed stale. I think given the location of this place, and how beautiful it is inside, more can (should) be done to make the menu better and improve the food.
Food was good, but unfortunately not worth how poor service was.
Came in for lunch with our two toddlers. 12:30 pm reservation on Saturday and brunch menu was the only available menu (despite their website showing an “all day” menu). Server was very nice and attentive but stretched thin and rarely saw her. Food took too long to come out, brunch menu was limited, and it took us about 1.5 hrs from start to finish. I’m sure if we were to come for dinner, it would be a different experience. Just wasn’t pleased with what took place this go round.
Food was good. Wife enjoyed her brick chicken more than I enjoyed the salmon. Atmosphere was awesome. Sat next to an open window looking at Wrigley Field. Service was great.
The server was really rude
This restaurant is fine for a family with a lot of kids but definitely not a place I'd recommend for a date night. The food was sub-par, my red wine was straight from the fridge and the service was ehhh. This place is about the same quality of food as an Applebees but twice the price.
Right across from Wrigley so great view but hardly anyone there. Nice place and decent food although very limited menu. Low noise level was good for conversation with clients so overall was a good experience.
