Adjacent to Dusek's Board & Beer, Tack Room was built in the same space as the stables where Mr. Dusek kept his horses. An exposed brick wall, exposed ceiling pipes, a wall of windows and galloping horse wallpaper make the Tack Room a playful and welcoming environment that seats up to 45 or can host 75 for cocktails.
Thalia Hall is a landmarked historic building originally built in 1892 as a Czech meeting hall. As of 2013 it has reopened and been re-imagined as a modern day town hall; a central meeting place that can seat 250 or host a cocktail party for 800.
Dusek's, Tack Room, and Punch House are also available for buy outs.
Doors open at 11am while the music starts at noon and concludes at 3pm, which is plenty of time to kick back and enjoy Michelin-starred Dusek's Board & Beer brunch menu and of course, champagne and cocktails.
What Insiders Are Saying
Like Brian Urlacher's former coverage skills or Dennis Rodman's hair, Dusek's has range.
The short ribs were the highlight of the meal. The salmon appetizer tasted good, but it tasted more like a fancy egg salad than salmon, which was a miss.
Food was delicious and staff went above and beyond to make sure our entire evening including seeing the Strumbellas went off without a hitch!
Duseks is a casual restaurant with great food. Our braised shortribs and our gnocchi appetizer were top notch. If you are going to a concert upstairs at Thalia Hall, Duseks is a must!
Great place to go prior to seeing a show at Thalia Hall. Great food, great cocktails, great ambience.
They said they no longer accept open table reservations, so it was quite embarrassing that my reservation wasn’t valid. They need to be removed from your site immediately.
We were out to see Mandolin Orange at Thalia Hall and decided to have dinner before the show at Duseks for the convenience. We were very pleasantly surprised with a really great restaurant and a wonderful concert venue. We had really well prepaired food and saw a very good show. We'll be back to Duseks and Thalia Hall.
We were visiting Chicago and very excited to eat at Dusek's. This restaurant has the makings of something great, but the service is terrible. We waited at least 1/2 hour to receive our appetizers and then at least another 1/2 hour for our entrees. The appetizers arrived hot and were delicious. Our entrees would have been amazing but for the fact that they were barely warm when we received them. By that point, I was starving and not in the mood to delay my dinner longer by having the waiter send them back (plus just getting the waited to come to our table was a chore). There was never any apology for how long everything took (the restaurant wasn't terribly crowded from 8-10 p.m. on a Sunday night). We left feeling disappointed by the whole experience.
My husband and I visited Dusek's for the second time, to celebrate his recent promotion. I love this restaurant. It is casual, yet high end at the same time. The food and drinks are fantastic, anf the atmosphere is really nice.
Service was great, the server was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. The only downside was the lack of vegetarian options on the menu. Only one vegetarian entree, which felt slightly disappointing. Appetizers and dessert were fantastic.
Food is amazing
Overall we enjoyed the experience here. We did have some temperature issues with the food, but our server and the manager were great and made things 100%. So fantastic service recovery.
I do enjoy their food alot and the ambience is very chill. We'll be back
Everything was amazing!
The initial server we had was not nice. He came across as smug and handed us off to another waiter when he realized that he had upset us with his behavior. The food was very bad. Poor taste and presentation.
Food was great, but the restaurant was almost empty. Unfortunately only one server working which still made the service really slow for our larger party of 8
The food was amazing. The service was impeccable and we just loved the place.
We ate dinner before a show upstairs. The food and my cocktail were excellent - the pretzel was delicious and perfectly soft/crunchy, leek ash raviolo was really good, strip steak perfectly cooked, and seared broccoli was surprisingly tasty. However, the service was really lacking. We waited a very long time between the pretzel and our entrees and meanwhile my husband wasn't able to order a second drink. The restaurant was not busy and there were plenty of staff hanging around but I still felt our table was a little neglected and was surprised by how long it took to get our food. The staff was friendly, just not attentive.
We visited Dusek's during our weekend trip to Chicago for my wife's birthday. The atmosphere was nice and the food was excellent. I was really impressed with the beer selection and that our server was knowledgable about the beer and food pairings.
My only complaint about our visit was the service. Part of the problem was that our server had the whole dinning room, which probably would not have been an issue if they didn't seat us so far away from her other tables. The restaurant wasn't that busy during our visit and there were plenty of open tables in between us, so it seems like the hosts did not set her up very well by seating her tables so far apart. The other complaint that we had was that we ordered an appetizer and then had to remind her after waiting a while. Unfortunately it ended up coming out the same time as our food.
One of the best values in Chicago. Consistently well-prepared creative fare with wonderful beer list (wine list could be broader, but the emphasis here is food).
Loved the vibe, staff was great. Oysters were very fresh, food was interesting and well prepared, except for the chicken, which was severely overcooked. Looking forward to another meal there.
The bartender was very engaging and accommodating. The waitress was attentive and patient. The food was great and we had fun, what more can you ask?
Great renovated space w extensive tinned ceiling in old Pilsen neighborhood. Focused on pubfood for this visit: good country style Duck pate; unusual and tasty "smoked" mussels and an interesting ham sampler. These went well with the 4 different craft brews we drank. Definitely have the "peaches and cream" dessert: toasted almond flakes on top of almond cream on a flat biscuit floating in a pool of peach agrodolce. Delicious even for a non-dessert eater!
I came here with a friend to catch up on life and we both thought the customer service, drinks and food were amazing. Thank you Dusek's Board & Beer for a phenomenal dining experience! I will definitely be back again and again....5 stars.
What we feasted on:
The Craft Pop (blueberry, pineapple & rosemary) was delicious and I was really feeling the crazy purple color. 5 stars
Beef Fat Frites with Harissa Ketchup were crispy and delicious. 4stars
Black Truffle & Foie Gras Fondue is a must try and I recommend dipping the frites in the fondue. 5 stars
Goat Cheese Raviolo was my least favorite dish, mainly because I'm not a corn fan, but it still gets a 3.5 stars
Choucroute (duck) was so damn good and so filling! I would definitely get this again. 5 stars
Garlic Stuffed Crystal Valley Farms 1/2 Chicken was 15 steps beyond amazing. I was so thankful my friend let me try some of this dish because it literally made my lips, tongue and stomach extremely happy. Next time I dine here I'll be getting this dish for sure. 5 stars
Peaches & Cream was very good and a decent size to share. 4 stars
Sweet Yogurt Sundae was so freaking good. That lemon curd knocked my socks off and I wasn't even wearing any. 5 stars
Our table was wobbly and was right next to the stairs downstairs it kept moving and people kept walking by. My drink was not good my husband liked his. Food was good. They were out of appitizers by 9:30 . It took awhile to get service after we got seating. Overall I feel like it was just ok for the price.
Our waiter was phenomenal
Amazing food and great ambience
Stopped in for lunch with the family. Great service, good food, fair prices.
Ordered a couple orders of French toast to share for the table. It was a huge hit. An absolutely fantastic dish.
The various entrees were all good.
Everything was outstanding, just know the restaurant is a little noisy. Not unpleasant, but any group greater than 4-6 may have trouble talking the length of the table. Food was delicious and the restaurant strikes a nice balance between casual and upscale. Great beer selection and incredibly helpful staff.
I was presently surprised by this place! The food was a true killer.. everything was so amazing, but the duck sausage left an impression!! It was all great really!!
Love the food and the location. The kitchen was a little slow.
We loved this place!! Food, service ambiance was great!! Don't miss the downstairs bars and the next door piano bar !! Can't wait to go back!!
Went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. The lighting is always low here, so that creates a comfortable, chill atmosphere. If you like oysters, try the kumamoto and raspberry point. They gave us an amuse bouche, which was a nice unexpected touch. Hamachi crudo, raviolo and the scallop "ordinary" were all delicious. For desert we tried the tres leches panna cotta and chocolate pecan tart. Both worth trying. I would definitely go back here, special occasion or not.
Loved this place!! Came here for my birthday and they got all of us seated at the large table near the back. The decor was on point and our waitress was amazing. She was so sweet and accommodating and very knowledgeable about all he dishes and drinks. It was lovely but we were all able to carry a conversation with no problem. They even offered us a taste of a soup they were trying out which was amazing- I wish I had a whole bowl of that. All my friends enjoyed their food (Juicy Lucy was a fan favorite) would without a doubt come back for their happy hour and to try the rest of their extensive menu and cocktails!
Always fantastic!Great atmosphere, wonderful service, and delicious food and drinks!
Love this place--food and drinks are consistently great with awesome, friendly service.
As always, the food was delicious and the service was very good!
Our party of four had reservations for 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening and they seated us upon arrival even though they were very busy. Our server did the best she could considering how busy the restaurant and bar was. Their beer list take up an entire page and is ever changing, but one of the people in our group waited over ten minutes for the beer they ordered. This restaurant is next door to Thalia Hall so it can get pretty crowded and the noise level can be moderate to high at nights when the pace is packed before a show. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees but didn't have time for dessert because they were late bringing out our entrees; the manager on duty was very apologetic and gave us two appetizers to share (on the house) while we waited. We had to somewhat rush through dinner but the food and drinks were exceptional. Everyone in our group would highly recommend the Iron Roasted P.E.I. Mussels and Black Truffle & Foie Gras Fondue.
While the food was phenomenal as usual, the server was not s great. She was very forgetful and inattentive to our needs. She was nice, but her service skills require some improvement.
Always a great place to dine before going to the show upstairs st Thalia Hall!
