Second visit, thought I’d give it another chance. They texted and tried to cancel my 3 week old reservation the MORNING of Father’s Day saying short staffed and menu due to recent gov’t hostilities and fear. My sympathies but another day isn’t a holiday and how would that help with staffing? Arrived and parked in a clean air space. Chased down at the entrance and told the ENTIRE lot is valet. 1. It’s not marked. 2. I was here last month and it wasn’t the case. 3. It’s not LA. 4. Feels like a money grab, not a necessity. Seated outside in the heat b/c there were no openings inside. Menus were visibly filthy. Drinks were slow again. Complimentary champagne for dads was nice. Server was attentive. Two of four dishes arrived solo which happened last time and was expected. However we were nearly FINISHED eating before they informed us they didn’t have the short rib the others ordered, husband included. Server is looking at us with no solutions. A menu and apology would’ve helped. They ended up taking our two drinks off the tab which felt insufficient. They’re trying to be upscale and we need that in Rancho but they’re missing the mark. They still haven’t reached that calm elegance of a high end establishment. It’s slow chaos with good ambiance.

We came here to to celebrate Father’s Day and we had a wonderful experience. My husband is in a wheelchair, and they were very accommodating. We had the Tomahawk steak that could feed a village :) The churros were amazing, took me back to when I first tasted them long time ago when we visited Mexico. Chairs and tables were unique, and comfortable. Other than the background music being a little too loud for my taste, everything was great! We’ll be coming back for sure.

Unfortunately, I’ve had two disappointing experiences at Durango Cocina. Both times, the staff completely ignored my husband and me—even after waiting over 15 minutes while others around us were helped. The restaurant was nearly empty, so there’s no excuse for the lack of service. As a Mexican restaurant, it’s disheartening to feel unwelcome—especially as the only Hispanics there. We won’t be returning.

Restaurant was clean, great ambience, and staff was very nice. Parking was limited and valet. Cost $12. Rooftop and restaurant are separate and rooftop. Allows walkins only for appetizers and drinks. Steak and eggs tasted very bland especially the black beans. Huevos, rancheros, same, very bland And we had to ask for salt. Not sure if we would return but I would like to try the rooftop and we had high hopes for this place, but left very disappointed.

We did not get to experience the restaurant as planned for my fiancé‘s birthday. The reservations were made for two and specified celebrating a birthday. The hostess wanted to set us outside in the sun, and I asked her if we could sit inside where it was cool because it was hot outside. When she did find us a table, it was a large table to sit with other people and we had to sit across from each other that table was in the bar area and it was loud so we did not stay to enjoy food or drinks because they could not get us a table for two inside of the restaurant

We enjoyed our dinner experience at Durango Cocina. The service, ambiance, food, and drinks were wonderful. We started the guacamole; it definitely did not look like your traditional guacamole but it was absolutely delish. For our meals, we ordered the short ribs, carne asada, and a side of the poblano mashed potatoes. Everything was plated beautifully and very flavorful. I will say it was a little pricey but it's a great option for special occasions.
