Offering fare inspired by fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients, Dunyā brings this same delicate balance to a new era of vibrant Mediterranean dishes in an industrial chic setting located in the heart of San Francisco’s Nob Hill District.
The décor captures the warmth and feel of Mediterranean hospitality, while a vast floor to ceiling array of local and imported wine bottles is illuminated by blown glass filament pendants, inviting guests to pull up a chair to the full service wine bar.
Amazing brunch! Brought family in town and everyone was very impressed by the menu and service.
Been going here for years. Neighborhood gem. Prices seem to be increasing and it's not quite as affordable as it once was (especially if you get wine) but that's to be expected in the neighborhood. Was packed on a Tuesday. Long lag between the apps and the main's but otherwise good service. Likely the kitchen was overwhelmed. The Meze platter is a must.
Food was awesome!!
Food was fantastic, service was friendly, good ambiance.
We made new year reservations here for yesterday at 11:30. Don’t know if it was a miscommunication and where the error happened between opentable and Dunya but the restaurant was closed. We ended up at the restaurant at 11:30 which was our reservation and found a lock on the door. We had to scramble and find another spot
Excellent service, excellent food.
Great neighborhood spot!
3rd time we've visited. Great food, service, ambiance.
The food was tasty and a perfect proportion, the decor was charming, the wine elegant, but for this boomer, the noise level was high. This made for not the perfect place for a cozy dinner for two. I think it would be a nice choice for a group, an office party or maybe on a day when it wasn't as well used. Sweet spot though.
Very cute spot
The food here was pretty good. Larger portions so you could actually share a meal.
We ordered Moussaka as well as lamb meatballs and enjoyed pinot noir. The Moussaka was the best we've every had the opportunity to taste. Perfect texture (not too firm, not too soft) and wonderfully spiced. The lamb meatballs were great, spicy, but still tasting of lamb. The wine came out a bit warm (storage temperature too high?) but it was good.
Good variety of food for brunch. The burger and chicken sandwich were cooked to perfection. Our server was prompt and attentive. Highly recommended.
Low key Mediterranean/Turkish food on Polk Street. Big portions, so come hungry. Food was tasty, great service. A great option for a chill night.
Absolutely tremendous! The service and food at Dunya never ceases to deliver.
I live in the neighborhood and enjoyed a delicious meal at Dunya. It’s become my new favorite! Food is delicious, fresh and lovely presentation. Plus, very reasonably priced .
Reserve an early dinner if you want to have conversation, it gets very loud later. I am glad we reserved for 6:45 because it was not too noisy until about 7:30.
Dunya has always been a go-to brunch spot. Unfortunately today the service was exceptionally bad. The staff was very rude and bottomless goes until 3pm but they would not refill our glasses before the 3pm time frame ended. We have been to Dunya so many times and have usually enjoyed our experience but after this time all 8 of us will not be returning
Had a delicious meal from appetizer to dessert...could have been more pleased!
The moussaka need more seasoning, in particular some nutmeg.
Portions were large.
Service was good.
Music a bit too intrusive. Every song had an annoying beat as if the chef was pounding something in the kitchen.
The sauntered Calamar was okay.
Great food. Appetizers were amazing.
Always a consistent place for superior quality food and amazing service. So lucky to have this neighborhood gem! :)
Great food and great environment! Enjoyed the space and experience.
Dunya is a wonderful neighborhood venue on Nob Hill. Inventive Turkish and middle eastern fare, creatively imagined and very flavorful. It's small so reservations are a must. Service was very good (even though server was on her first day) and the chef/owner very engaging. Will be on my list to always visit in San Francisco. A great small restaurant. Highly recommended.
Best Turkish restaurant in San Francisco. I've tried so many places, Gyros on North Beach, Troya, Tuba and La Mediteraine and this place beats every single one by far. This is the generous Turkish place you would get in Istanbul with quality ingredients, amazing wait staff and by far the best ambiance for a date or a catch up with a friend. Their Beyti, Borak, Goat Cheese Pistachio, Mixed Grill are AMAZING. Their Ararat Salad (great Armenian touch) is the best Mediterranean salad in SF city. All in all these people are so kind and just love what they do. You literally feel that the waiters are owners. Hard to beat any Turkish place like this in SF city. We keep coming back!
Had dinner with some friends that I had not seen in a long time. One person found plastic wrap in their salad. They gave her another salad, although instead of apologizing told her that the lettuce came in a plastic wrap. Ofcourse, it does, but the restaurant is not suppose to serve it. The coffee was cold. We told the waitress. She once again told us," It came warm. We added milk, that made it cold". I would not revisit this restaurant.
I enjoyed the Mousaka I had for dinner. This version was a bit different from the version I know. But it was also delicious. Great and friendly staff.
Cozy place - perfect for a date, quick meal, or special occasion. My hubby and I loved their homemade dishes and Greek wines. Girls (waitresses) were friendly, personable and helpful. Definitely coming back to try more of yummy food and wines.
Best Greek food all four of us had ever had! The actual restaurant is very well decorated with an awesome vibe. Will 100% be back!
I travel every week throughout the country and eat out always. Took my wife to the city for SF Symphony. This last weekend and chose this restaurant for the first time and we were both blown away with the service , cleanliness and most of all the FOOD! We will definitely br back again! Try it you too will be smazed!!!
This spot is our go to brunch spot! They accommodated our larger group the morning of and the service was great! They were soo attentive and kind. Plus the food is always delicious :)
This is my fourth of fifth time at Dunya now and the food and service are always excellent. Reasonably priced and quality you can taste keeps me coming back over and over again.
Casual, good go-to. Love the mezze platter, although we ordered the red snapper (one of the specials for the night) which was overcooked and way to salty. I'd recommend sticking to the menu.
Great fun, great food and service. Very noisy but bearable.
Great Mediterranean menu and always has great wines. I go because they have Lamb on the menu. Try the Lamb Burger.
This place has potential because the food is fresh and very good. But the service is gruff and the waitstaff a bit clueless.
Since my last visit, Dunya has become v. popular (and concomitantly noisy), but does not appear to have hired enough staff to cope.
Ran out of baklava on a Tues. evening.
Tasty, well-seasoned food but insufficient information provided for those of us who want to know more about the sources of the food we're eating.
We found the food excellent with great presentation. Service was good. Tables were too close together and very small. Noise level was very high. Loved being able to book with Open Table and loved the information given including price range.
Again, excellent. Had the shrimp shishkebob and lamb burger; started with hummus. All terrific. Very good wine selection, even by the glass. A great little place
We just had the appetizers and shared between the four of us. Lamb meatballs, shrimp (very good hot sauce) and calamari are all highly recommended. Wine list is very versatile (like the food) but inexpensive. Absolutely fantastic experience!
Dunya is rated 4.4 stars by 65 OpenTable diners.
Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
