Dune by Jean-Georges
Set atop a white sand bluff affording dramatic ocean views, Dune is an acclaimed restaurant by world renowned Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. For lunch and dinner, Dune offers an unexpected menu of French-Asian cuisine with Bahamian influences. OUT DOOR SEATING IS BASED ON AVAILABILITY ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. It cannot be reserved in advance.
We were here to celebrate a birthday and found the entire experience to be absolutely wonderful. We sat outdoors and even on a windy evening we still feel we chose well. The menu was inventive and VRRY nice. They did a great job of talking care of a gluten-free request. BTW, drinks beforehand in their separate bar was an excellent experience - it’s a square bar in a separate outdoor room. Do yourself a favor and come to this restaurant!!
Beautiful restaurant by the ocean. Great service and food.
Went for 50th birthday and had worst service ever. We were there for over 1 1/2 hours before we were even given bread. And this was after we complained. Two hours after ordering they came and said they were out of several of the dishes we ordered. Apps were served after 2 1/2 hours. All came out at different types. Complained several times to manager and he just said I’ll fix it but never did. Super disappointing evening. Will never go there again
We were in shock that this restaurant was associated with the Four Seasons. Our experience was terrible! I don’t think we’ve ever had worse service at a restaurant. We were there celebrating for 50th birthdays and couldn’t have been more disappointed. The food was actually very good, although small portions for the exorbitant prices. The atmosphere was nice but our service was so horrendous that it cancelled out anything positive and ruined the entire experience for us. Our server seemed annoyed that we didn’t order appetizers and seemed disinterested in us from that point on. He never came to ask how the food was, and never came back to get get us another drink. We were hoping to order a bottle of wine with dinner and have dessert for our birthdays but never had the opportunity because no one bothered with us. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Beautiful resort! Everything was outstanding!!!
We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. The food was excellent and the service was great (our server Douglas was terrific!).
Dune creates an amazing dining experience which begins with the spectacular view of the ocean, gracious and prompt service and incredible food. After each bite, we had to stop and savor the flavors.
The food is not very well prepared and waaaay overpriced. Not the five star quality we would have expected from a Four Seasons resort. Don’t waste your money here.
Our meal was fantastic and the place is very cool. Our favorite meal in Atlantis
I chose this restaurant for a date night since there not many fine dining options on Paradise Island and Atlantis restaurants were getting some and reviews lately. We really enjoyed our experience, the food was excellent, I highly recommend Snapper and home made sodas. However, as literally everything on Paradise Island, I still think it’s quite overpriced.
Ambiente tranquilo y muy agradable
I am a frequent customer at the NYC restaurant. I was not expecting anything close to that quality, but was truly shock that JG would associate himself with a place like this. The physical structure is superb -- beautiful decor and views. However, the food was lackluster in the extreme. Nothing was inedible, but nothing was very good. The worst part, though, was the service. Truly abysmal. Many mistakes and huge delays between courses. Their hearts were in the right place, but no training at all. Everyone I've spoken to in Nassau seems to say the same thing. Still, a beautiful spot. They just need to get their act together.
Fabulous food fabulous views fabulous service. Highly recommended!!
100% Best menu, service and ambiance.
Exorbitantly priced, less than special food (especially the Christmas Eve Prix Fix menu), horrible customer service from the manager. Very disappointed.
Absolutely enjoyed!!!! The hostess apologized in advance for the noise level but we know that the holiday time is a busy time. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal!!!! We even got a complimentary 5th anniversary dessert. Just amazing!
Restaurant was quite empty. Drinks at the bat then moved to our table.
Bread service was not as good as on previous visits. Black plate for 2 at $80
Was a total disappointment. Samosas were stone cold. Rice rolls were chewy and tasteless. Felt a bit ill after a few pieces.
My husbands lobster was tough and over cooked.
Service was good.. we were not in the mood to complain as we have always enjoyed lovely meals in the past. This night was however a real disappointment and not up to the standards expected at a four seasons restaurant.
Pleasantly surprised for our 5 year anniversary dinner!
It was my birthday and the restaurant provided an excellent ending to my party.
This place really is in paradise located on the waters edge. Some confusion in the bar when we arrived for a drink. The bar was full and the bartender asked that we have a seat just outside on the patio. Gave us a drink menu and then no-one ever came to take our drink order. Then the hostess came and said our table was ready. The food was incredible and plenty of it. Our server went by "John the man" and let me tell you he was the man. It was like he was always one step ahead of us. He exceeded my expectations. My daughter is vegan some he called the chef to the table. He wasn't very confident in talking about what options he could offer. He really should of because my daughter said it was thee best vegan offering she had ever had. Regardless of those small hick-ups we had a wonderful meal, service and time. Can't wait to go back.
The food was great..the service not so much. Our party felt a bit neglected. It's a foregone conclusion that the service charge is included, but the waiters forget that outstanding service can yield additional tip. We went to other really lovely restaurants during our visit where the staff made us feel welcomed and were very attentive. Here we felt like an afterthought...which no one wants to feel like ever.. especially on vacation. Lovely place...great food. Will not return. Thank you
Wonderful service and food
Very accommodating for food allergies. The chef even came to the table to consult about dishes that I could eat.
Dune has lost its edge for food, service, ambiance, and value. You go to Dune knowing it will be premium pricing, it's the Ocean Club, it's the Bahamas, it will be a bit slow by NY/US standards, etc., but you also go expecting Jean-Georges service and food. We've been to Dune on our annual visits to the Bahamas for well over 10 years. It seems like much of the Bahamas has gotten to the full employment but not full workload state. Slow kitchen, overtaxed wait staff. Make you own judgement on whether a single piece of breaded veal milanese on a bed of arugula for $50 is worthy of Dune/JGV value when it comes out tough and dry. Lamb chops chili glaze ($60) seemed to have spent too much time simmering and tasted burnt. Wine by the glass menu very limited and not broad quality and hard to find a bottle of wine of any color less than $90.
JGV should visit incognito and see if it meets his standards.
Food was terribly over cooked. This was second meal there. Was not impressed at all.
Staff was very attentive and service was smooth. The steak and fish were cooked to perfection.
The food is excellent and the outdoor part has wonderful ambience but inside felt very much like a hotel lobby restaurant. The service was lovely except for the fact that I was celebrating a big birthday and my husband contacted the hotel days ahead and reminded them the day before, and they still forgot and when he reminded them, they brought out 2 cookies on a plate. embarrassing....
As always a great time and wonderful meal!
The service at breakfast on Sunday was exceptional! The food is always great.
Glad we came around 5:30 to see the sunset. The resort and restaurant are beautiful! We had a few drinks at the bar before dinner. The bartenders were outstanding! Best old fashion I have ever had! Dinner was fantastic. The food and service was spectacular! This is a must-do if you are ever in the Bahamas!
absolutely beautiful setting to have an elegant dinner with the waves crashing in front of you and each dish better than the last
Beautiful night, food was excellent, as you would expect, service good and setting amazing, all in all a great evening
Booked my reservation on Open Table for 8:30pm - Outside seating was CONFIRMED. This was for my 50th birthday and an anniversary with my wife.
Arrived a few minutes early and checked in. Upon check in, we were advised that the system showed a Party of 12! I showed the lady the email confirmation that clearly showed 2!
We were advised that there were 3 other tables ahead of us. What?? Outside seating was apparently “First Come, First serve”. What? I showed her again the email confirmation that clearly stated Outside Seating.
We went to the bar, which quite honestly for the restaurant was a joke. Small little display of bottles, more like a beach bar, not a fine dining restaurant bar. They had a person singing very loudly and songs from the 80’s like, Like a Virgin. Just a strange ambiance.
The bartenders were very nice and friendly.
We were finally seated 50 minutes late!!! Our waiter introduced himself and disappeared for 20 minutes. Finally reappeared and since we were well past our dinner reservation, we were ready to order. He asked if we wanted a drink and we said yes but would also like to order our meal and he up and walks away. 15 minutes later, no drink order and having to flag down the bread guy, our waiter reappears.
We have a food allergy and he became very belligerent and condescending. They didn’t have 2 of the items we wanted and kept bringing the chef over for an allergy 2x, but the items we were trying to order weren’t even available so why bother?
The manager came over and try to alleviate the situation but quite honestly, after waiting 1.5 hours since our reservation time, we called it a night. So in truth, I can’t even rate the food because we never ate, however, Open Table wants you to click each category. If there were a way to leave it blank, I would. Also, if there were a way to give a negative rating for service, I would.
Dunes should be commended for its special mix of seasonings in its food. The snappers broth was “a taste delight”. I would also recommend the steamed shrim salad. I look forward to eating at the Dune when I vacation again. Also the wait staff is friendly an courteous. They checked on my meal and I never felt rushed
Great location right on the beach at a beautiful property. Food was cooked perfectly with unique flavor combinations. Celebrated a birthday there and they did a special happy birthday rendition.
Always outstanding. Excellent deserts, great service, best views of the beach.
We had a lovely birthday lunch for my husband they even brought him a birthday dessert of chocolate dipped strawberries and sang! ❤️❤️
Excellent view and atmosphere.
