A nice holiday tea was provided, quite elegantly in The Sorento’s beautiful surroundings. I would recommend this to all. However, compared to the 3-4 high teas served in the greater Puget Sound, it was not quite perfect. Tea pots were allowed to run dry, and much of the tasty finger sandwiches were on dry bread. I’d hoped it would equal tea served at The Empress, but that is a very high standard ;)
All in all though, a lovely start to the holiday season, thanks 🎄
I was surprised by the selection for a $110/per person buffet. The food was not great - very dry stuffing, very dry turkey, limited selection of food.
Our hostess and server were great but then the “executive chef” came around and seemed to push us out of the restaurant. It was a very sour note to end the evening and ironic that the person responsible for such a dismal buffet was also responsible for such poor customer service.
Even though we were married at the hotel ten years ago, I’m not sure we’ll be back within ten years after tonight’s experience.
Thanksgiving dinner. We were seated in fireside room which was lovely. Some of the seating there had very low tables which I would not have liked. The Dunbar room seemed to hold the larger parties.
Food was excellent, although not shears hot enough. It's a budget, so I understand the struggle to keep food hot. Chef was wandering thru frequently and helped me get my husband's plate as he is disabled.
Only thing I missed was a pecan pie... Although there were three other desserts
It's a bit pricey, but for the two of us it was a lovely day to spend Thanksgiving.
The halibut was plated atop warm vegetables but it was very acidy-too many cooked tomatoes. Burned my tongue from the acidity. My husband has the pasta dish and was satisfied but underwhelmed.
I had a great sense to go to Dunbar Room and have Eggs Benedict for Lunch hour. Deann's and June's service and the entire Facility were of great quality and everything, outstanding. Thanks for the chance to answer your Survey!
I loved our visit. We had a girls brunch with my daughter and a few friends. I love the atmosphere, makes the experience really special!!!!
Nice setting, classy and cozy...and good food
Mary was amazing. She was knowledgeable went through the menu and wine list for us. We went with all of her suggestions and were not disappointed. Really loved the new wine I'd never heard of before. She made my date and I feel like regulars. We will be back for sure.
Tasteless fare. Slow service. Not at all what was expected from a $33 a plate restuarant in our favorite hotel.
Menu is to limited and food wasn't as good as before.
The Dunbar Room is a great spot if there is not a special event happening in the hotel. Sadly, I was in the Dunbar Room bar before an event, The Witches High Tea. B/c of that, our service decreased immensely. We started off w/ two bartenders. Then went down to one and finally no bartenders. We waited over 20 minutes while sitting at the bar for someone who worked there to show up and take our bill. We really wanted to pay. We ended up attending the WHT and a worker found us in that event about 1.5 hours later at which time we were finally able to pay. The drinks that were made looked really nice. I only had a club soda so I can't comment on if they tasted as good as they looked. I do like this space, but I won't be back if an event is happening in the Fireside Room that isn't properly staffed on its own.
Attended 2019 Witches Tea. Event was ridiculously understaffed. We waited easily 20min at our table before waitstaff appeared and then another 40min for food. Everyone was delightful but the wait times considering the cost of the vent were ridiculous.
Delicious, festive brunch! A very sweet way to celebrate a birthday!
We came for a tea service. The prepared food was premade pastries and sandwiches. They took 45 mins to bring them to our table or provide a pot of tea. Did not offer milk & sugar. Had to physically chase down someone to ask for said milk & sugar. They brought it to the wrong table about 15 mins later. We had to ask again. Tea was cold by the time I drank it. They attempted to run a fog machine right under my chair. The hissing made it impossible to hear my sister talking to me. The finger sandwiches were sad, stale tasting bread, floppy, and bland. They did not have enough teapots and some diners had to brew the tea in their overfilled teacups with a leaf strainer. I felt embarrassed for the establishment. The waitresses were flustered but overall very kind and I think they knew it was not going well. Went for the Witch's High Tea. Hope they are able to provide better service for their customers next weekend.
Quaint and old world charming lunch spot hidden away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Seattle.
The Dunbar Room is a classic! The atmosphere makes me feel like I've stepped back in time and the staff provides expert service. I loved the Grand Hotel cocktail.
Went on Tuesday night. Poor service. Seemed understaffed. Paid $32 for three small lamb chops and half a plate of potatoes. Extremely overpriced for the food. Nothing else on the plate. Would never go back.
I was having lunch with my cousin and we wanted a quiet table so we could talk and hear each other. Te Dunbar Room was perfect!. Jeanne had a delicious Rueben and I had the French Toast with extra bacon and coffee - also delicious. The service by June was perfect.
Meant to attend the jazz brunch. Even left special instructions stating that and to contact if there were any issues. The open table booking for the jazz brunch was not intuitive. Ended up not having the brunch experience I wanted
Food was good, not great. Good service, but very few diners.
Our waiter the only waiter was fabulous. However our seating with a reservation was unavailable. The Dunbar Room was closed. The bar or the garden with music were our choices. There was no host or check in desk. We sat in the bar and our waiter while wonderful was the only visible employee. Was this an exception? Should I try again? Only if I could have the same waiter! Food was great.
Eating in the Garden at the Sorrento is a summer must!! Perfect Leo Season dinner of caesar salad, meat and cheese boards and lettuce wrapped burgers!
Food was nicely prepared and service attentive. It was a slow night so service was in the bar and I prefer that anyway.
Good drinks, food was good. Seemed unorganized and had to be shuffled around because no one was there to seat us for our reservation, so we went from the bar to a table waiting for a server.
This was to be a special afternoon tea, it was a complete disaster.
To start with a pot of tea taking over 30 min to arrive.
Nothing home made, no scones, canned presentation.
No finger sandwiches, a small open faced lump of cream cheese and a slice of cucumber, does not make a sandwich. All for $45 no thank you.
The staff unattentive, and annoying.....
Do not go for tea. we've been for food and that was fine.
Food was very good for the most part. I got the burger and moved it. Husband got lamb bolognese but it was dry. Once he asked for more sauce it was better. The brownie in the sundae dessert was very stale. The bartender took our order and had to ask us 3 times if he had it right then forgot to bring our drinks. He was slurring so we thought he might be drunk. The atmosphere is beautiful old world feel.
Service was extremely slow, confusion over menu. Will not be back!
Simply put, never had enough people and time it took to receive service and food was very VERY long. Had to beg to get the check
Was very dissatisfied and disappointed with our family brunch. Service was some of the slowest and inattentive I’ve ever experienced. Had to ask for our Bloody Mary drinks over 5 times and took 30 min. to get. Nobody offered coffee warm ups and I had to ask 3 times for cream and sugar. Food took forever as well and the quality and cost was poor. Music was very good but overly loud. We got there at 11 A.M and finally left at 1:15 P.M because of the poor service. When we complained about one of our 7 dishes served to our party they didn’t seem to care. No apologies! The only positive was the room is beautiful. I was sad because we had made a special trip up to see our grown children and take them all out for a special birthday brunch. There were many staff around and few customers so there shouldn’t have been a problem. My son in-law is in the food industry and he was shocked by our experience. I hope they can make some changes because it really is a beautiful setting.
Even though it let me set a reservation for 10:30, the menu was limited to the happy hour menu, and they acted like they had never heard of Open Table and knew nothing of my reservation. Since I had to order off the happy hour menu, I ordered sliders and some potatoes. The sliders tasted good, but the bu s were crusty and obviously not fresh. The bartender gave really good service and was very nice.
Great cozy ambiance with a fireplace and sultry live jazz singer & guitar
Overall a good experience. The service was slow but the room and hotel experience is worth it if you are staying at the hotel. The jazz singer was great to have to add to the ambiance.
Had Easter Brunch with the family. Room was beautiful, warm and intimate. Had fireplace which
we sat by. Food was good. Service was friendly. I
will be back.
Where we had dinner in The Dunbar room it is truly just a room off the main lobby. The food was excellent but the seating was not very comfortable and there was no real ambiance as you are seated on somewhat uncomfortable chairs or booth. You are just off the lobby so you can see and hear everyone coming in or leaving. Not what I expected for an elegant hotel. We had breakfast the next morning and we ate in a separate room but at 9 AM on Wednesday they were short staffed and we waited a long time for our meal even though there were not many people there.
The food and service are both ok, but we waited half an hour for coffee and then 1.5h (literally) to get our food. By the time the food was served, I was missing an egg too. If they advertised this as a farm to table experience that they are literally getting everything from the farm I would probably understand it more, but I didn't think that was the case. The jazz was nice, it wasn't too loud and waiters were nice, but we were getting really hungry by the time we got the food.
Hi Tina, we sincerely apologize that service was slow that day. This is not our standard. We strive to give excellent service, leaving guests with a great experience. If we may, we’d like to invite you back for a chance to make it right. Please contact me directly at mahn@hotelsorrento or 206.386.0792. Looking forward to hearing from you!
The live jazz is fantastic and unique
Came for a thirtieth birthday celebration with 9 friends from out of town. Was truly a wonderful experience. The live music was amazing, food was terrific and the restaurant gave us complimentary champagne to start the evening with. Highly recommend!
If you like a dark, quiet, place, this is the spot. The menu is simple but good. The burger and fries are good.
Great place for brunch!
Varied ages - all had an excellent brunch/time.
