Duke's - Upper East Side
Join us Monday - Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm for happy hour.
Always a great basic experience at a Duke’s. Great food and decent pricing for American food. Cool atmosphere, with a self serve beer wall which is cool!
Saturday brunch. Food was quite tasty and the self serve beer wall what much appreciated. Liquor drinks were quite tasty too
I have been to Duke's on Second Ave with my husband and our two daughters several times and always had a fun time and a good meal. So when relatives came to town, we decided to bring our party of 10 to Duke's. We had a pleasant and fairly attentive server, and everyone in our party enjoyed their food, which included several orders of chicken and waffles and the mac and cheese variations. So far, so good.
7 of us decided to use your Self-serve Beer Wall, so our server was saved the hassle of taking multiple drink and refill orders and bringing them to us. When the bill came, we noticed that a 20% gratuity had been added, which is completely understandable for a group of 10, but the $100 that we spent on SELF-SERVE beers was included in the 20% !! So, instead of a $50+ tip for the adequate service we received, we were forced to leave an $80 tip for services we DID NOT receive. When we brought this to the attention of the person who brought the bill (who was not our original server), she stated that it's always figured this way and could not be changed. So we paid the full bill and gratuity, but it left a very sour taste. If this is your tipping policy for SELF-SERVE drinks, I will not be bringing larger groups here again.
Beer Taps didn't work, so why bother going. No BBQ food. No Chardonnay. If you have fish allergy you can no longer eat most of the food on the menu even if its not fish because they grill fish on the same grill as the other food
When we first entered Dukes it was not busy at all and there were plenty of tables to choose from, we ended up getting a tour of the restaurant as they told us the original table we wanted was unavailable. With in fact was not true, we ended up being moved to the requested table.
As we choose the bottomless brunch option, we expected our drinks to be filled when empty. This was unfortunately not the case as our waitress was MIA. We had to consistently ask her to fill our drinks as she was on her phone texting a few feet over.
Overall my meal was good and I would go back for HH or even dinner, but for brunch I will have to take a pass on this option and go elsewhere.
I WOULD NOT eat here. I work in the service industry and I am normally very understanding, but the service here was TERRIBLE. To start the night I made a reservation and when I got there they did not have a table available. This was fine we sat at the bar. When one became available it took three people to confirm if my boyfriend and I could sit there. Our server introduced herself and took our drink order, but that was the last time she came on her own. She stood at the server station playing on her phone or eating and I had to flag her over 6 times. I understand when you are busy you can’t always check up on a table, but if you have time to text or watch videos on your phone you can check up on your table. The food was okay, but the service ruined the whole experience. I would save your money and eat anywhere else.
This is the second time we have been to dukes. The worst service ever. We had to go look for them to get drinks and food numerous times. Then when they brought the food, they brought the adults food first, then my sons and then 10 min later told us that they gave my daughters food to another table by mistake. They didn’t offer to take it off the bill or give her something while she waits for them to make her a new meal. Terrible service. Will never go back.
Eislan is AMAZING! She is always making us feel welcomed & super helpful with our food allergies.
We always hope she gets to serve us when we're here.
Great service and decent food for a brunch.
The space was 1/3 full-but the noise of the TVs was way too loud -most likely because of being 1/3 full, I believe
Fun place to watch games
We had a great time at lunch. The food was terrific, and the service was excellent. Will be back.
The food was great. Good selection. Easy to get to by subway. The service was a bit slow.
Ate with the family after a day at the MET. 10,7, and 2 year old in tow and 5 adults. Standard pub food. Excellent Mac-n-cheese. Also the nachos with pulled pork were a hit. Good burgers. Good stop for casual dining.
I’ve been here before and it never disappoints! I love the drinks
Great for kids. Staff was patient w our four little ones; hard to get their attn though when we actually wanted to order more.
Great music selection
The blonde waitress who was there on Christmas Day was incredibly rude. I tried to ask her questions about the drink menu and she was very arrogant and short in her responses. She didnt smile and rolled her eyes whenever I tired to ask a question about the menu. She looked and acted like she didn't wanna be there that day. Very poor customer service. Luckily , I ended up getting a different server.
love it here ! been here a couple of times ! always had a good time ! drinks are very reasonable in prices , they made fun drinks as well and have a huge beer wall , great for groups and does a different happy hour everyday !
Went to watch the World Series Game.
Food was OK
Service was not great
Service was awesome, our waitress Islan was awesome and amazing! Great food and drinks! Fun shots! Food was served quick and hot! Definitely will be back definitely worth the drive from the burbs!
Good comfort food and kid friendly. Also good for a boozy brunch without the kids.
Ribs tasted burnt. Salad warm.
I ate brunch at Duke's after finding it on OpenTable. The food was pretty good and everybody enjoyed their meals, however the service was very slow. Duke's has more of a bar than a restaurant feel which, based on photos and the menu, I did not expect.
The noise level was ridiculous. With a reservation we still had to wait for a table. Then wait for a waitress to show up. Then wait for our drinks. Then we waited another 20 minutes, because the waitress came over and asked us to reminder her what we ordered, clearly she had forgotten to put the order into the kitchen. She did bring us a complimentary order of guacamole for our wait. The wait was now approaching an hour. Once the food came, the ribs were overly sweet, the hamburger very thin and the fries regular and sweet potato were lukewarm and soggy. I know it is a beer centric place but the red wine was barely drinkable. The Firefly Vodka and lemonade was the only tasty thing of the evening. When this location was one of their Big Daddy's, everything ran smoothly and the food was tasty. If you are over 25 avoid this place at night. There are plenty of other good bars and reasonable restaurants within a block in either direction of this place. Maybe okay for brunch but not going to go out of our way for this one.
Great local spot for brunch or a casual dinner. Drinks are great, and I appreciate being able to sit outside with my dog in good weather! She even got her own water bowl :)
We enjoyed the food and there was a happy hour special. It's very kid friendly which is nice but it really pushes the noise level up. A good casual restaurant.
Casual place to have a bite. Lots of TV's if interested in what's showing..(Sports) Pretty noisy with recorded music.
Music was way to loud. Couldn’t hear people sitting across the table from me. I had to yell to get anyone to hear me.
I did enjoy the self serve beer. Good selection as well.
This establishment is really a big bar that serves OK food. The menu is very limited and doesn't really have dinner items. I was surprised to be informed by the server that they do not have any type of hot tea. (He suggested hot cider.) I guess this is a place were you can grab a quick bit, but it seems more aimed at people looking to drink beer or cocktails and hang out. If at some time they decide to expand the menu, they better broadcast it to the neighborhood with fliers or mailers. As it is I am unlikely to return in the future for any meal at this place.
We had a great time at this restaurant. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing. We had dinner but I would definitely come back for just drinks.
Great place to eat. Excellent service!!!
I can't say enough about Duke's and its wonderful staff. They were so accommodating, turning the heat up and even trying to move my guest and I when we were cold. The waitress was attentive the entire night and was willing to explain everything on the menu as well. The ambiance was a bit loud but it was brunch time on a Sunday so there were a lot of games going on, so it is to be expected. The food was great as well, especially their quesadillas and steak sandwich. I would also highly recommend the chicken and waffles. The prices are also reasonable so I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I just wish the menu was a bit more expansive but it's my only gripe.
Quality of food is mediocre, but the volume is stupendous!
We went to Duke’s for Bingo as advertised on Facebook and Twitter however when arriving we were told there was no Bingo because of the MLB Yankees playoff game. Furthermore, the server gave us the incorrect bill three times and was not sincere or apologetic for the mistakes. Not a great experience.
If you are ordering drinks and appetizers then is fine. Entrees are not worthy. Tasteless. We order burgers and a sandwich. None of them had any flavor whatsoever. The burgers topping were scarce( 3 little pieces of pickled onion, one fried pickle, two small jalapeño slices and cheese that was yellow cheese spread (no way that was real cheese) Sandwich was more bread than anything.
Stick to beers and appetizers and dine some place else.
I love the original Duke's on 19th, but the new UES location leaves much to be desired. The food is good - everything from the nachos to the salads. However, it is LOUD - even when it's not that busy. You cannot hear the waitress or the people at your table. The service is slow and the food takes a long time to arrive. The AC was on so high, that not only was it freezing, but my hair was blowing with the breeze. They put their better beers on tap on the funky self-service wall. It's more expensive AND glitchy. We've been there 3 times, hoping that they would work out the opening kinks. Doubtful that we will give it a 4th chance.
Food was great I love love love the drinks I will definitely go back again
Loud but fun place. Went on cinco de mayo which added to the noise. Their regular menu has better choices (chicken sliders YUM) than wasn't offered for the holiday. Waitress was attentive but had to yell to be heard.
Overall, fun night and everyone singing along in the restaurant.
