Due Mari Ratings and Reviews
I had ordered flowers for my wife's birthday and they had placed them on our table along with glasses for Prosecco - perfect. The service was great without being over-attentive or intrusive. The food was delicious - their tagliatelle bolognese is really excellent! We go here for date nights and Birthday's - it's an hour drive for us but totally worth it.
We like Michael White restaurants, especially the Italian ones. Due Mari is nice for a pre-theater meal. The staff is attentive .My husband had the 4 course prix fixe - romana salad, gnocci, brodetto and sorbet, which he loved. I had a poached pear salad which was dressed nicely, and my main was halibut, made gluten free for me - very good.
We use to love this restaurant. We went on a Sunday. On Sundays, drinks at the bar are half-price. We decided to have a glass of Prosecco. It should have been $6.00 a glass. When our bill arrived we noticed we were charged $12.00 a glass. We ordered a bottle of wine which arrived after we had finished our appetizers. Unacceptable. My gnocchi, although very good, arrived lukewarm. My entrée, Brodetto, which is a fish stew, had cold fish. They came and poured hot broth over it but it didn't help very much. I think a restaurant of this caliber should be serving hot food. At least heat the plates. We will not return, which is disappointing.
Continues to offer excellent food.
Disappointed that at 6:30 PM, the pasta I chose was no longer available.
After the first course, they set up a table behind me that was so close that multiple servers and guests bumped into me.
Despite the shortcomings we enjoyed our meal.
We were seated at a private table with access to windows which allowed us to watch people passing by. The service was fine and our meal nicely presented. Our only complaint was that we were asked multiple times if this was a special occasion and each time, we answered yes,so we presumed they would acknowledge it, however, that did not happen. Disappointing end .
The experience was marred when our server dropped my date’s entree next to her seat, which stained her pocketbook. The manager was very apologetic, and I expected some accommodation on the bill, but that did not happen. Otherwise, our food was fine and I will go back.
Just love this place. The food is never anything short of delicious, no matter what we order, whether it is seafood or pasta or veal, etc. Only complaint is it can be loud from time to time...we were in the lounge area once and there was a singer which didn't seem necessary. Literally the only bad thing I can say. The food is on point every single time. Will keep coming back each time I'm in the area. Wish I lived closer!
I like this place. This is out third time there.
Maybe I have forgotten about the past two visits, but the menu seemed a bit limited this time. Not sure way.
The food is always good and the service is excellent (we had a special request for two extra chairs for friends that just dropped in for a drink) and they were able to accomodate us easily.
Wine list is good (not outstanding if you're a wine person) with some different selections. We ordered a pinot bianco (which is not common) and it was very good.
I would go back and recommend, as well.
I worked with the restaurant ahead of time to plan my father’s 85th birthday and they made it such a memorable experience! We had the perfect table, special printed cards in our napkins, and custom printed menus to take home! I would highly recommend any special occasion there.
Server was poor, had no discretion or sense of urgency on a non busy night. Made errors throughout. Poured wine to push consumption. Constantly bothered and interrupted by server and bussers inattention when pouring or serving. One of my clients was speaking to the table and was literally interrupted by busser "would you like more water sir?" Ordered moderately and paid $700 of which $100 was a begrudged tip
The bones of this restaurant are good. They promote a fine dining experience and inexperienced staff greatly lessens the experience. First server had a problem understanding basic cocktails. But when served they were very good. Server pushed the 4 course offering (probably a good value if you eat that much) but we ordered a full pasta to split. it was great, server was completely inept with my wine. Didn't know what Amaraone was, finally brought the wine to present it. Left the table to get it uncorked. Returned to pour spilled it on the table and outside of the glass, I cleaned it up and had to ask for a new napkin. Not good. I ordered the swordfish my companion the filet. Both served and filet under cooked. They took it back to complete the cooking while mine sat to get cold for 15 minutes. His properly cooked filet phenomenal. My Swordfish cold and a little fishy. Server never checked. The home made doughnuts also were great, kudos to the pastry chef. Not sure if I would return as there are several good Italian restaurants in New Brunswick, when you spend over $300 for dinner for two it should be flawless.
