I have enjoyed Due Mari over time but I thought the valentines special was over prices for $80 and my filet was ok, a little touch.

Love their happy hour and great pasta

Valentine’s day. The duck was cold. My veal was ok, but the fixed menu price was no value and the ambiance not special—we were seated in the bar aisle. Our appetizers were taken to someone else’s table first. Service seemed haphazard. The music entertainment seemed unaccomplished. $240 with tip for two people. We are not returning.

The pastry chef Nicole made our night! We sat at the chef’s table facing the dessert prep area and kitchen. She really went out of her way to explain how the desserts are made, was super friendly and helped us select our final course which of course was delicious. We’d go back just to see her.

I am not sure if I am sensitive but I could not understand why I had to wait for about 20 minutes in the bar until my table became ready. I called in advance that I will be 10 minutes late for my reservation but I got there 5 minutes late and many tables empty on the rainy Saturday around 2 pm. the server said ‘I am all by myself, so please wait, ok?’ when I asked when my table was going to be ready after waiting for over 10 minutes. I was surprised because I was expecting to be informed about approximate time for me to be seated. What is the point to make reservation if it’s not respected. I was nervous if my guest would show while being still seated in the empty bar. There was no one else waiting during this time and I just waited without any prediction. After this situation, I couldn’t really enjoy the rest of the meal and I didn’t want to make my guest who joined me later to feel awkward, so I just pretended whole time to be pleasant. I am not sure why this happened and this kind of situation tends to make me feel conscious if this happened due to my skin color. I hope it was not from such a reason.
