The food and service at Duck Duck Goose were excellent all around. The dishes were very attractively presented. The cocktails were imaginative and very tasty. It's a small place--I would think a party of six or more people would tax them. But for a couple or two, it's very nice. My only criticism--too noisy. the room is small and lacks wall coverings or carpets that would soften the noise level.
What an amazing experience! We initially visited because we saw the Chef on the food network show “the kitchen” but ended up loving it so much we are going to make it a bimonthly date night! The energy of the dining area coupled with great wine and food was outstanding! Our waiter Elliot was knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. Can’t wait to visit again!
Loved our server and food was delicious! Great date spot.
Lunch was such a perfect time to go! The lunch special is absolutely worth it. Our waiter was very kind and knowledgeable. Cauliflower soup is amazing! I will definitely be going back.
Service is impeccable and the duck is delicious. Beef tartar was perfectly seasoned appropriately with a raw egg yolk.
Had the foie gras and it just melted in your mouth and complimented the delicious duck.
Four of us visited DDG on a Monday. We have been there multiple times in the past and have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this time our visit was less satisfying. The food was overcooked and just not as tasty. Not sure what happened - perhaps the normal chef was off of work and we were dealing with the 2nd/3rd team. We will likely give it a return visit, but may choose to stay away from potential"off days".
Amazing food/presentation -- service from wait-staff fairly poor, but the manager did let a member of our party order off a different menu, which was great!
The service was simply awful, although the food was quite good. A trade off for everyone to make.
The service was impeccable but the food was hit or miss. Our appetizers (charcuterie and tartare) were a nice start, but the main entree, the aged duck, was not correctly cooked to order and a bit underwhelming given it's the specialty of the establishment.
Lovely food and service, but small and can be very noisy with guests you are very loud.
We sat outside on a beautiful evening but when we ordered the 50% off wine, they did not have the wines we selected. A marketing gimmick to get us there? who knows. The food was OK and the service for the first half of the evening was very good. However, at the time to pay our waiter disappeared and we had to ask another waiter to bring our bill and also later on to pick up the payment. The bill had an error which we brought to the management attention, they did not charge us for the wine. However, when the fix the problem they added a second bottle of wine and we had to bring this to the attention of the manager. Problem finally fixed. No, I will not recommend this restaurant.
Food was absolutely outstanding. Service was a bit slow at the outset (restaurant was not too busy), but got better when they felt we were not too happy about it. The ambiance has a certain charm; we were expecting white tablecloth luxe, but it's a neighborhood ambiance with great food. That's fine - the issue was in our expectations, not in the resto's execution. I wouldn't go there for an important business dinner, say, but for a couples' fine dining in the neighborhood it really works great.
If you need a fois gras fix, you have found the right place. The white wine selection is really good and the price is quite fair. Sit outside if you can, you will re-imagine yourself in Europe at a great cafe.
My husband and I went to Duck Duck Goose for our anniversary dinner which was on a Monday night. I booked through open table and let them know that it was our anniversary and that we'd like to sit outside. It was a beautiful evening and while there is some traffic where it's located - there's not a lot of really noisy traffic. The manager came out and wished us a Happy Anniversary and brought us some champagne, which was a nice surprise. The other nice surprise was that Mondays are 1/2 price wine nights and every bottle on the list is included! We had some very very nice wine with dinner. My husband ordered the Duck Duck Burger. I gave him a hard time about ordering an expensive burger at such a nice restaurant but quickly ate my words along with a bite of his burger. OMG...just do it! I had the dry aged duck which was also exceptional. The service was great. Everyone was very nice and the waiter even ran two blocks to catch up with me once he realized I had left my phone at the table. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much for giving us an anniversary dinner to remember.
The food was nice except the risotto and that was a pile of mush.
The noise level was way to loud for us and it takes away from a pleasant dinning experience.
The food was very good. We had two plates to share (risotto and broccolini with lemon custard), and we each had a main course: the lamb shank, and two dishes that were on special (halibut in filo dough and lamb loin. While the taste was very good in all of them, the halibut and the lamb loin dishes were far too small to be considered main courses (and expensive given how small they were). Half of all the dishes were "specials" and do not appear on the menu. With all the noise in the restaurant it is hard to hear the waiter go through the descriptions. Given that I saw at least two of the 6 on my previous dinner there, it may be worth while including them in the menu and make life easier for both the waiter and the guests. We were served the wrong order at first. Not sure if it was the waiter's problem or the kitchen's problem. I would definitely go there again because everything tasted very good but I would be very careful with what I order to make sure I get enough food.
Nice location. We sat outside but not too much street noise on a saturday evening. We shared an appetizer of roasted cauliflower (good) and then had an order of branzini and an order of the duck magret. Both the fish and the duck were good quality and cooked properly. However, the accompaniments were scarce, a few white beans and small pieces of asparagus with the fish and nothing with the duck but some port/cherry sauce. When we asked for more bread, we were charged for it, which we always find distasteful. We each had a glass of wine, again served on the skimpy side.
We love this little neighborhood bistro gem! Spontaneous outdoor dining, impeccable service and tasty food.
Great service from Nelson and the food was outstanding --
The food was clever. Service very uneven. Atmosphere was nothing special.
This place is highly overrated. My $32 burger was sent back being rare rather than medium rare. Red wine was served in a large snifter glass, difficult to drink from and balance. Loud music was entirely unsuitable as was overall sound level. My companion’s lamb/pasta dish was quite good. My note in Open Table about celebrating our 54th wedding anniversary was not mentioned. Will return with guests but with lower expectations.
Food was outstanding. Eric was a great waiter. He was very attentive and personable. I would definitely go back. The burger was great, a little pricey. Probably the foie grois on top.
As the doctors say' "Unremarkable"
DDG is quickly becoming our go-to spot for Sunday brunch. The juices, sweets, and main dishes are terrific. Try them!!
Great food. Music a bit too loud. Crowded but great ambience.
Great service and they brought a nice dessert for my fiancé as we were there to celebrate her birthday! Very tasty food
Delicious and creative dishes!
I had the halibut wrapped in lettuce(?) and then cooked in pastry, UNBELIEVABLE! We shared the charred broccolini and raviolis for appetizers. Finished with raspberry napoleons and a chocolate cake.
The service was impeccable, the food was truly delicious, with unusual twists of flavor which are not found in most restaurants. The sauces, purées and condiments accompanied the food were truly inspired. Perfectly matching and pairing well with the food.
First visit, chosen by reading OpenTable reviews - and for location. It's in a nice corner spot, with some street parking available. When I arrived early and asked for a quiet table to complete a work call, they were very accommodating.
Service was very good. The food was a bit average. I enjoyed the cream-based roasted cauliflower soup, but the seasoning was a tad strong. Salad was uninspired. My associate enjoyed the duck confit sliders. I had a taste. For duck confit, it was OK, not great.
Pricing was about average for the DC/MD area.
If I was meeting someone for lunch again, this is a nice spot. But I would not go out of my way to go there.
Overpriced for what it is. The food is nice, but no burger is worth $32. And the wine list is just poor.
Small restaurant, lots of wait staff, but our waiter couldn’t be bothered to approach us after our first drink and dinner order so our drinks sat empty the whole time. Even our water glasses. There’s only a few tables so I can only assume they wanted us out. What should have been a nice long evening and expensive bar bill turned into a quick and fast dinner so we could go down the street to grab a drink.
It was awesome and will do it again but too expensive
Overall, it was very good but we received our food without silverware and napkins. It was a hot brunch meal and they took just a bit to get the silverware to us. Ordered iced tea and didn’t get sugars. Didn’t get salt and pepper. We just had to keep asking for things. The food was top notch and the outdoor seating is great! Overall, a 8+ out of 10.
We always enjoy ourselves at DDG. Waffles, shrimp & grits, and salmon & eggs were great. Nicely done, crew. We will see you soon!
The food was excellent, per usual. The service was also excellent. The waiters were pleasant, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations.
Very poor service. Wine was too warm. They had no carafe for decanting a $200 bottle of châteauneuf. Food was mediocre. Not going back.
Portions were small and everything was drenched in butter. My pasta didn’t have much flavor other than the butter it was soaked in. We had to ask for lemon for the water 3 times before they brought it. The asparagus appetizer was excellent and the best part of the meal.
First, the food was super! Ratatouille w/ fried egg, roasted Japanese eggplant, risotto w/ duck confit, and Branzino w/ white bean ragout were all delicious, as was our bottle of Chardonnay. Quite a meal. Second, the service was professional and timely. On the down side, the music was super loud. We had to ask them to turn it down. Also, our table was wobbly, which required an adjustment. But, more than anything, I go to a restaurant for good food, and Duck, Duck, Goose is terrific in that regard!
We came to celebrate my husbands 10 yr Anniversary with his business. Food was excellent. Service was ok. It’s a really small dining area, and the tables are very close to each other, which isn’t my preference, but overall was a good experience! We will be back.
Delicious food and adorable outdoor seating!
