The food we had was both healthy and absolutely delicious. The service was efficient and extremely friendly. We were able to sit outside, which was much less noisy than inside, and since it was a balmy evening, it was very pleasant. I would willingly go back!
Nelson is the best waiter in the DMV! You should request his tables when booking.
Food was really excellent, service was great, ambiance quite nice. Unfortunately, noise level is very high when the place is full. While nothing can be done about that -- it's all glass and hard ceiling, leaving no surface area where sound could be absorbed, I think that the menu prices are too high a price to pay for the overall experience.
Charred broccolini was really good, as was the cauliflower steak. Service was ok and it was loud secondary to the music playing.
Main reason we went was to experience food preparation by the recently acclaimed chef/owner but learned after arriving that he spends most of his time working at the new DDG in Fells Point or at his nearby George's Chophouse. Somewhat disappointed. But I suppose this is to be expected when chef/owners expand and grow into multi-location entrepreneurs. Word of caution......be careful not to take your foot off of home base....we have seen other chefs get too aggressive and lose site of why some guests visit the "home base". Get big, get greedy, get closed. Look at Bryan Voltaggio's expansions and contractions, and the mediocre reviews of his MGM steakhouse. Now back to DDG, the food was good, but we (2 of us) were seated (squished into) at a table right by the front door (almost in front of the door) and we were crowded and uncomfortable....maybe they should remove that one table and spread everyone out a little more so there is actual room to sit/move. Server was very attentive although his English was heavily accented and a little difficult to understand, and the music was somewhat loud for a small restaurant at dinner time....hard to talk over/hear. The bar area is not large (maybe 6-8 seats) nor were there many people sitting there during what normally would be considered 'happy hour'. So in summary.....we would return, but next time when making the reservation I will first confirm the proprietor will be in the kitchen....not just his recipes and support staff.
Really tasty food, and fine service. Our only complaint was the noise level. There were two very loud parties seated near us, so that may not be typical. Pricy, but not out of line for the quality of the meal.
Food was amazing, no doubt! Even with reservation we had to wait 15-20mins to be seated, defeats the purpose of reservation, but I guess the food made up for it.
Best duck in town and wonderful wait staff. This is our date night favorite
Amazing burger.l! Service was okay that day, waitress seemed distracted but we loved the food!
Wonderful food, excellent service. Just a bit noisier than I would have found ideal. Pricey, but worth it overall.
Had a lovely evening outside. The food was marvelous. Great selections for vegetarians and carnivores alike. We had 3 sharing plates for 2 people and it was more than enough food. The roasted cauliflower was an interesting combination of textures and flavors, the agnolotti pasta was a little on the thick side but the pea filling and lemon sauce were yummy. Since it was Monday we had the added bonus of 1/2 price bottle of wine. Just a great experience.
Absolutely delicious food in an extremely loud environment. Probably wouldn't go back, due to the noice. Not cheap, either.
Romantic and quiet. A little small though, kinda cramped but man that was amazing food.
Seemed to be an off night. They were out of some dishes as well as the wine I chose. Many of the clams and mussels were empty. I was charged for foie gras on burger even though I requested it without. Ice tea was watered down. They did their very best to accommodate us but it was not the experience I had anticipated…
Back-to-back weekend brunches. Food was great and Nelson was best service yet. Go here and enjoy!!
Great birthday dinner!! Loved it all Apollo was super!
Second time there for a special event. Will definitely go back!
We went for happy hour and enjoyed the half-price special cocktails. We split three dishes and all were great. It is a small restaurant and not the usual happy hour. And that was what we wanted.
The tornados with goose liver pate was an extreamly tender and flavorful dish. The menu is simple, and it could use some vegiterian dishes should your guest prefer. The happy hour red is not drinkable and should be removed from the menue. However, the full price wine selections were extreamly good. Overall the experience was great, however, a menue update would need to occure for an encore.
love the place! such a treat! great food, pleasant service, and interesting, diverse crowd. there was a party taking place at two tables, and it got a bit noisy.
Great food as always. Shrimp and grits, crepes, and waffles were exactly what we wanted. Try this place!! While you’re there, get a drink.
Lunch at noon on a Friday. Hot and humid and no moving air inside. Menu was a disappointment. I ordered steak and frites. Steak was prepared perfectly. Frites were soggy. Ice tea tasted like powdered ice tea mix
Absolutely no compelling reason to return.
Great drinks, very good service, welcoming to my party that arrived piece meal and stayed super late. The only problem is the food wasn’t all that great. I might try again and order different things but nothing I ate was super tasty.
Great that downtown Bethesda now has a place like this.
I made a reservation for two but there was no one to greet us when we arrived even though half the tables were empty - it wasn't a busy hour. I finally flagged a waiter who seemed extremely annoyed that we wanted to check in and be seated. She audibly sighed, rolled her eyes, and then barked at us to sit at the bar until a table was ready. 5 minutes later a gentleman came by to double-check the name on the reservations and then waved at the room and said we could sit wherever we wanted. No new table had been prepared; there had been no need to sit at the bar. The waitress came back and poured water so forcefully that it splashed onto the table, dropped two menus, and then left without a word. 10 minutes later and no one had come to check on us or take our order. That's when we decided to leave & after this experience, we'll never be coming back. On top of the rude behavior, the restaurant was extremely noisy.
Outstanding food, attentive and enthusiastic staff, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Always enjoy dining at the Goose! Delicious, unique, good portions, and fun!
I was there for lunch and thought the choices for lunch were quite limited. Maybe dinner would be better. Food very salty.
Excellent food and very friendly staff. Very quaint. Will go again!
Very nice we will return
Tables too close. Very loud. Food ok nothing special
noise level was very high. chairs truly need a pad, they were very uncomfortable. Drinks were excellent. i ordered the ratatouilles, which came at first t the same time as my appetizer, then was taken back, but when it was brought back was undercooked and tasteless. i was excited to try the restaurant but very underwhelmed.
The noise was beyond belief -- so deafening that we will not be back. But the food was wonderful. I ordered the Japanese eggplant, good but not great. The lamb bolognese was outstanding - perfect. I had the special raviolis, 8 pieces with a dollop of date puree(?) very nice. We had two birthdays, brother and sister, and they were treated with a dessert; the better was the raspberry Napoleon. We three were there for an 8:45 pm reservation on a Saturday night. The noise roared like a jet airplane. They are 20 nice light fixtures in the ceiling and I would suggest adding some draperies or foam between them to deaden the sound - a deal breaker.
We have been to Duck Duck Goose a few times and are never disappointed. The food is excellent and is probably one of the finer food experiences in Bethesda right now. The service is always terrific and all the wait staff is helpful and informative. If the restaurant is crowded, it can be loud -- the dining room is very small. If the weather is nice, you can opt to sit outside. Our last visit was to celebrate two birthdays out of the three of us. When we arrived, there was a little snafu, but the restaurant handled it beyond our expectations and we had a great evening. It's pricey, but worth it for a quality dining experience.
Girls night out. Wanted to try somewhere new and were glad we did! We shared the agnolotti and the roasted Japanese eggplant. The agnolotti was absolutely delicious, and we loved the eggplant - it was delicious and beautiful. The scallops were the best I have ever had. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The branzino was really good as well - and served as a filet (not with the head) which we really liked.
We love Jackie, the bartender, and the warm, casual, neighborhoody environment. The food is also delicious
Amazing. Can’t wait to go back.
Could we give 10 stars for service?? Thank you Gabriel for being the best server ever. Every suggestion he made was perfect, from the asparagus and egg dish to share to the night's special squid ink pasta and clams. This tiny restaurant is just a joy. My friend said she felt like she was transformed from Bethesda to Paris. Cant say enough good things about the entire experience.
We went for brunch and had a wonderful time. It has friendly, on trend atmosphere and the staff was delightful. Great food. Overall a really nice time.
This tiny restaurant turns out exquisite food. My only complaint was that the music could’ve been lowered so that people didn’t have to talk over it, might have brought the noise level down.
We love DDG! Delicious lunch specials in a Parisian atmosphere. This time we were seated under a speaker and the music was a little loud.
