Food was bland and just over salted. It took so long to come out. And we ordered veggies
Food, service, and ambiance were impeccable. 5/5.
Everything was impeccable. Obviously I'd prefer to enjoy the indoor ambience given the awesome music and decore, but while COVID is still a thing, the greenhouse was perfectly fine if it meant the rest of my party being comfortable.
This was our last restaurant for Restaurant Week (RW) 2021. Beyond Dim Sum, I am not a big fan of Chinese food, but thought I would give this a try since this is supposed to be take on Chinese food by Stephanie Izard. As the mastermind behind Duck Duck Goat, Girl & the Goat, Little Goat, Duck Duck Goat, and Cabra...what could go wrong? Well pretty much nothing. The menu for RW was a fixed price of $39 per person.
I loved the décor, it was so red and funky....took me back to salon in 1890s with all the red brocade and mirrors, quite lovely. Service was totally on point. Everyone was wearing masks and were keeping a respectful distance from us, but attentive. Dishes came out as they were prepared, which was nice. For dinner we had the following: Jiaozi (beef short rib & bone marrow pot stickers), Pickled cucumbers, Vegetable Fried Rice, Xi'an Goat Slap Noodles, Beef and broccoli rice and a very thick and rich ice cream with chocolate sesame seeds. Food arrived family style, which was fine with us since we are a family. Probably the best dish of the night for me was the veggie fried rice. This was the first time I have ever had the dish period. It is not something I would ever think to order because there ain't no meat in it. So imagine my surprise that this not only tasted great, I couldn't stop eating it! There was a wonderful amount of veggies in it. The pot stickers were another outstanding dish, perfect place between the dough and meat as were the Bao. The Xi'an Goat Slap Noodles were on the spicy side, with the noodles having a wonderful chewy texture. The remaining dishes were good, with the pickled cucumbers rounding out the dish. That was also a surprisingly good dish for something so simple. The pièce de résistance of the night was dessert...a soft served ice cream made with made with whole milk and heavy cream with a touch of Tamari and chocolate sesame seeds. All in all a great meal.
We have eaten here a few times. We ate here for restaurant week 2021. Food was average. Value poor. This place is definitely expensive. Much better food in Chinatown. Will not be back.
The food and cocktails were all top-notch. I would highly recommend the pork belly and duck fried rice.
Environment was amazing, service was fantastic and food was amazing. If I could give this place more stars, I would. Highly recommend.
A MUST, go again and again!! the bone marrow pot stickers are so delish along with everything else!
It was perfect. The dumplings, the duck fried rice, everything so well thought out. You’re still the reigning champ for our favorite restaurant in the city.
Q1 ended very well for the firm. Happy to celebrate at such a fine establishment.
Amazing food, great portions, outstanding no service.
Great small plates menu. Amazing flavors. Not overpriced.
Such a wonderful experience!
The restaurant week pre fixe was MORE than enough food for 2, let's say, robust people. But we added a few items any way. Dont skip the soup dumplings, shirt ribs and the slap noodles are bomb.
The dumplings were so fresh and had a perfect sear. The service was also fantastic!
The service was great. My favorite item was the potstickers. I didn’t care for the other items on the restaurant week menu items
One of the best dining experiences of 2021! And don't forget to grab a signature cocktail. Everything was fantastic!
Tried Duck Duck Goat during Restaurant Week, and really enjoyed everything we had. Our favorite dishes were the jiaozi and the beef & broccoli, but we also enjoyed the soft serve more than we expected to. It was so smooth, and there was a depth of flavor that we couldn't pinpoint, but was really good. We spent about 10 minutes just trying to guess what was in this that made it more than just vanilla - miso? Milk steep in almond cookies? We still have no clue, but it was delicious.
There was a ton of food, so we ended up taking enough home for lunch the next day. Also enjoyed the decor, and service was good - attentive enough for during a pandemic. Cocktails were fine, but on the small side given the price. My husband also tried a Lucky Buddha beer, which was good.
Came for restaurant week and far exceeded all expectations. Everything was so delicious, cocktails were amazing.
The restaurant week menu was fantastic. We loved it all - cocktails as well. Duck duck goat never fails to amaze us!
Great experience all around. The quality of the service really stood out.
Chicago Restaurant Week - $39 prefixe menu was a KILLER value!! So so tasty— even left with to go boxes!
great restaurant week offering, gives you a nice sample of delicious dished - totally worth it
The food was outstanding!
Enjoyable meal - everything was delicious.
We had a great dinner. The staff was amazing throughout. I also needed some adjustments on the food due to allergies and they were wonderful. We celebrated a birthday and they made sure to make the night special
The restaurant week deal is awesome and so yummy! Highly recommend making a visit here when you can. The ambience and food are top tier.
Ok. I went to Duck Duck about 4 years ago in May. Totally didn't remember what we had so we decided to go there again to refresh our memory and palates. It's a late in the season restaurant week for Chicago so we decided to check out Duck Duck's pre-fixe menu. It. Was. Freaking. Delicious. The vegetable fried rice was the bomb. The braised beef dumplings were the perfect bite of fried dumpling, well seasoned beef, spices, heat and crunch with the red sweet peppers. So good. Stuffed, we also had the beef and broccoli and a noodle dish that had fat noodles that you find in pad Thai. Listen I don't remember the names of the dishes but everything we ate was so good that we asked for a doggie bag and made sure we didn't leave it behind. You know how you ask for a doggie bag and forget it at the table? Nah. not this time. Going back again this week for more goodness. Highly recommend.
Duck slap noodles were so good!!!
Delicious food and cocktail! Particularly loved the xiao long bao and chicken entree.
High end Asian food. The bao are outstanding! Server was great, too!
Great food and service. So many wonderful flavors combined into tasty goodness in each plate. We look forward to returning when we are in Chicago again!
Loved the location, loved the decor, the best Bao Bun. Shortcoming on the service from the hostess to the waiter. Not sure if I'll return. I have been to all the other Goat restaurants in the city and this one really was disappointing in term so serve. Maybe the pickup window on the side will be my best option, where I won't expect much service.
10/10 every time!
Had a reservation for 2 and was sat at a round table for 4. I understand COVID changes plans but we had a long standing reservation and were only 10 minutes late. The hostess was rude upon questioning as well
The peanut noodles were delicious!
Food is great one of our favorites.
I came here for my birthday, I’ve been before and loved it. This time however the servers were really slow, practically abandoned us after dropping off entrees. We didn’t see a server for a straight 45 minutes to offer more drinks or dessert or the check. Kinda disappointed that it took them that long. Finally they did bring a dessert with a candle but by that time it was 9:00 and we were ready to go. The food was overall good, but the char siu pork ribs were very dry.
We loved our outdoor tent! Just wish there was music or some sort of decor. We still had a blast though!!
