Lobster Night is great!
Took 3 HOURS for a meal! Other tables were seated after us, served and left and we still didn’t get our complete order ! From the time desert was ordered- 1 iced cream and 1 lemon tart to the time we finally got it- after complaining to the manager- 1/2 hour! And the place was 1/5 occupied!
Fabulous from Start to Finish! Matt took such good care care of our Party of 8. Espresso Martinis, Excellent! Entree choices like a breath of fresh air! Creative and Delicious. We all Loved our choices; Fall flavors, 3 cheese gnocchi w butternut squash, short rib and cavatelli, scallops w octopus, INCREDIBLE! Well Done!
Half-price sushi, portions very small! Live music was great but makes it hard to converse with friends at dinner.
Excellent food. Friendly staff. Music was awesome ! Definitely will be returning for another lovely evening!
First time going to a David Burke restaurant. Went to the Drifthouse for burger night. Service was very good, but the food was not as good as we expected. If you can’t get a burger right, you don’t get a second chance. The restaurant had a musty odor (yes, we recognize it was at a beach club). Overall, a very disappointing experience. Sorry David Burke.
For the most part, this was a very good experience. The dessert we had, the Chocolate Cake in a Tin, was one of the best desserts we've ever had! I highly recommend it.
Not impressed…seat was freezing due to vent under/next to table, dead bugs on the window sill, dirty glassware. When placing orders two of the items we selected had been Replaced, but no one had gone over the menu with us, so we had to change minds quickly. Food was good, but pricey for what it was. I wouldn’t say I won’t go back but it’s not high on the list for a repeat performance.
We ordered the mussels appetizer and tuna crudo. It was delicious. Main course the squid pasta with seafood was delicious. Let’s of fish. Delicious sauce. The skirt steak was also amazing.
We had a cocktail at the bar prior to dinner, great conversation with the bartender and the drinks were made perfect. Our waiter tonight was informative but most of all he was funny and “got us” which made our dining experience outstanding. We had appetizers to die for followed by sumptuous meals, 5 stars! We shared several desserts each one better then the first. Tim was the manager on tonight and he seems to be running a Fine establishment our whole experience from start to finish was one of the finest and would highly recommend! Thanks to all the staff!
Food was great was very nice. Only issue is outside dinning next to the pool with pool lights on and people screaming it was difficult to hold a conversation and relax also when the pool lights are on it drowns out the ambience lighting after 9:15 it works well as the pool is closed.
Sign of the times with good restaurants. Appetizers came quickly but we had an interminable wait for dinner. Food was good but 2 dishes (both pasta) were luke warm at best, one worse than the other. At least they were kind enough to comp the cooler dinner. Server was very good and apologetic for the wait. My guess is that the kitchen was understaffed. Main problem for us was the noise level. It was almost impossible to have any kind of conversation without yelling. Of course all of the other tables had the same issue, so it seemed all the patrons were speaking loudly just to be heard. I can't imagine what the level would be when they have a band playing. We have been here many times in the past and have always had a fine meal. Hopefully staffing wull improve in the future not just here but in all restaurants.
We are at Drifthouse for our anniversary. The food was delicious, we enjoyed the view, our waiter was excellent, and we loved our dessert!
Our sushi appetizers were outstanding.
The bronzino was fileted and prepared to perfection. The band was good but way to load.
My husband’s birthday. When they accept the reservation the restaurant should inform you there is a service fee charge of 3% of your bill for any use of credit card. We had an expensive dinner- I do not carry that much cash on me daily. It was extremely disappointing. The food was good but I will not return for that simple fact.
Excellent all around. Service impeccable and food was stellar. Indulge in the chocolate cake!
Dinner was very good until I was informed that it is the restaurant's policy to add 3 % for all credit card charges. Very bad form.
Very crowded tables jammed together, short handed. They did very well under the conditions
Very loud difficult to talk. Expensive
Fairly limited menu - very pricey and then they charge an xtra 3% for credit card!! Service very good and ambiance lovely
Wonderful from start to finish. The warm welcome, the bartender, the waitstaff were all friendly, professional and accommodating, and the food was terrific. They made our day, our 33rd anniversary most special.
We truly enjoyed and can’t wait to come back.
The duck special was superb sushi was great
Food is meh - it was better in the past. The waitress with a great personality is the best part about the place. We had her last time too. Extremely loud and unpleasant noise level though.
Consistently good! One of our favorites and feel fortunate to have this fine restaurant located only few minutes from our front door.
Great experience great food
I am not one to write reviews often, but this experience does warrant comment or better yet, a warning.
This was our first visit to this restaurant but not our first with David Burke. Our experiences at his other establishments were wonderful. This visit was not! The food was superb without question. The mussels appetizer was delicious. The steamed lobster was cooked perfectly! The short rib cavatelli was superb!!! The ambiance was acceptable. The major detractor was the live music. Wow, it was horrible! The band played so loud a conversation across the table was an extreme challenge! The style of music and the songs were weird and downright annoying. The vocalist was off key & terrible!! We were told the band plays 3 nights a week.
If you would like to enjoy a fine David Burke meal at the Jersey shore, pick a night to dine when the band is not playing.
We shared our comments with the hostess who could care less.
Parking is easy. Had 7pm reservation and was sat right away. Went for burger night. Both burger and brisket sandwich were really good. Hipster fries are amazing although a little disappointing mine were really over cooked but my husbands were perfect. Overall good service but could have used a second round of drinks but server never came around until we were done eating to see if we wanted dessert. Need to figure out live music schedule. They advertise live music from 6-10pm. We got there at 7pm and musicians were on break and didn’t start playing until 7:50pm and we left around 8pm. The 10 minutes were heard them they were great and really livened the atmosphere. So we’ll come back but either earlier or later to catch the music !
Would’ve rated a 5 overall, we had a great experience, but for some reason each course was served warm, not hot. Delicious from appetizers through desserts but not hot.
Great as usual
Friends having dinner
Matt did a great job. We enjoyed Sushi, Oysters, Lobster Roll, Eggplant Chips.
Not a normal david burke restaurant that i am used to. Too many flies all around and just not a great experience
Great quality food. Mostly a la carte. Serrvice was excellent. Will return for a special occasion.
Food was very good. Dinner portions could have been larger, but adequate. Menu selection is relatively short. Staff were very friendly. Live Music was a little too loud. I would have preferred it at half the volume. No issues with reservation through OpenTable.
Chef. Burke’s food could be half as good and still be wonderful. It’s a bit pricey but worth it and never takes itself too seriously
Great food, great service and terrific experience!
My girlfriend and I were celebrating my Birthday at the Drifthouse.. Both entrees were very good and the desert was even better… Don’t miss out on the warm chocolate cake in a tin pan served table side … we definitely enjoyed ourselves and will return in the future.
I had dined here during a Restaurant week and when my Son asked me where we should go for my 66th Birthday I requested to dine here.
I hate to say that I will be ever be back. Aside from the price the food was mediocre at best. My Bronzino was overcooked and dry. The plates were cold. We had to refill our wine glasses ourselves. $48 wine and we were essentially self-serve. There was a party of 10 or 12 across the way that was so loud we could barely hear our waitress review specials. I had to request fresh ground pepper twice. The guy who brought us out appetizers said he would look and never returned. I caught another young man and he promptly brought over a self serve pepper grinder.
A side order of “Roasted Asparagus “ gave me a diced up over cooked asparagus with Pine nuts. Not described as such and I asked the waitress to let whoever know that not including this detail is unacceptable if someone had allergies to nuts.
I know that David Burke was cooking when I ate here for Restaurant week. I doubt if he was there Saturday night. A dinner priced at over $350 should have warranted attentive staff, a visit from the Chef or Manager doing rounds and thanking guests for their patronage. Our waitress Kendall did her part but the rest we were on our own.
Excellent food, attentive and friendly service and location cannot be besten
Our experience was everything we were told it would be and then some we will be back!
The best tasting hamburgers in New Jersey with a relaxing atmosphere !
