Located on Lake Wylie in the newly developed McLean South Shore, Drift on Lake Wylie is a chef-inspired lakeside chophouse. At the forefront of the Lake Wylie dining scene, our food is simple and seasonal—home to prime cuts of beef, local seafood, and homemade pasta. My daughter and I had an outside table by the lake. It was lovely. Our server, Destiny, was wonderful. We split all our food. We had the panzanella & burrata appetizer, Chilean seating bass and pan-seared scallops. We can not tell which was our favorite item because all three were incredible. Destiny gave us fantastic advice and service. She paced our food perfectly. My daughter wanted advice for a glass of wine. I'm not sure who she was (perhaps Paula, one of the owners) suggested one based on my daughter's description of what she liked. The wine was exactly what she wanted and she was impressed that the suggested wine was one of the lowest priced on the menu. The two of us had THE most wonderful evening.

This was my first dining experience at Drift. Overall, it was a great experience. I was able to get an Old Fashioned made with my favorite bourbon, EH Taylor. Both of our drinks were excellent. She had the house wedge salad and I had the house Caesar salad, both excellent. She said her pork chops were excellent and I had the 8 ounce fillet done Oscar style. The flavor of the fillet was amazing, as well as the Oscar topping. The only issue I had was that I ordered my steak to a medium doneness (warm, pink center). When I cut into the fillet, there was no pink. It was cooked more to a medium well. No biggie, but that was the only issue. This would have been across the board 5 stars if I didn't have the issue with the steak. The table we were seated at on the deck had an amazing view. The lake was so pretty last night. The only draw back was the occasional motorcycle or pickup truck driving by feeling the need to let everyone know they were there. Again, not the fault of the restaurant, but a slight drawback to the overall atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

We absolutely loved our experience at Drift! From start to finish we enjoyed everything about it. Great service, ambiance, and food all wrapped into a perfect evening out. Would definitely go back. We went for dinner and looking forward to going back for brunch!!

Everything was amazing, service was beyond measurable. Amazing staff always looking out for there customer, me and my wife had filet minion and Kansas strip and was delicious! The calamari always is the main reason we chose Drift from other high end restaurants!

PLEASE, PLEASE,PLEASE, have a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand by the glass back on the menu. The whites by the glass are not good and Drift is the type of restaurant that should offer a high end New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc by the glass!! PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE!!

We had a wonderful time with our friends last nite (6/6/25). The food was delicious! Service was slow. We ordered lobster bisque which was amazing but came out without the spoons. Our server seemed new and nervous and oversat. Spilled water at our table, spilled my husbands beer. Drift has been open for “years” now. My husband ordered a filet medium and it was well done. It took a long time to get food, so he didn’t return it for fear of it taking too long to get another one. We shouldn’t have to ask for another one. Medium is medium. At a restaurant that costs $400+ to eat and drink…it should come out perfect. Worst thing having experience in the restaurant business is seeing a restaurant not being able to cook a filet to order when you ask how you want it cooked. On the bright side. Server was absolutely lovely. But overwhelmed. I had the mushroom risotto and it was perfect. Don’t F up a filet when it’s your special for the nite. Good atmosphere. Very expensive.
