The restaurant was in a beautiful location and decor contemporary. Drift has a lovely outdoor patio. The menu was not exciting and did not have a good seafood selection that you would expect in Nova Scotia. Service was very slow. Our waiter was apologetic as we had to wait over an hour for our main course. At least the waiter gave us two complimentary glasses of wine. The chef needs to change the menu.

We dined here on 07/26/2025 with another couple. We frequent many of the high end restaurants within HRM and this was our very first experience at DRIFT. To say that we were disappointed in an understatement, which is very unfortunate. They brought one meal (out of 4) and then 10 min later came back and took it back (as it was cold) and other 3 dishes were not ready. When they brought it back they also brought back a second meal (same meal)- yes, a duplicate meal, which showed there were issues in the back of the house. Wine we chose was not available, so they offered us another choice, which was well over $100. We were not at all concerned about $$, however if you don’t have what we wanted you should have offered us the alternative at same price point. Also, they just left wine chilling literally 6 feet from table and never topped us up until we asked. All 4 meals were mediocre- at best. To make matters worse, the washroom had nothing to dry your hands. I had to use toilet paper. It felt like a gas station washroom experience. While our entire party of 4 were all very disappointed with this experience, we felt something was off, right from the get go. Unfortunately, neither of us will likely return to DRIFT and given the numerous choices available in this space on the Halifax waterfront and beyond, this bougie quartet would recommend a pass on DRIFT.

Our server, Nathan, was such a joy to speak with. My sister has celiac and she and another member of our party ordered dessert and I said I’d be stealing a bite of each, and he was thoughtful enough to bring two spoons so I wouldn’t have to worry about cross contamination. The filet, lamb and risotto were all outstanding and the amuse bouche was a lovely extra treat! We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful place. We had the seafood tower and it was outstanding! Delicious drinks too.

Our table ordered the salmon and steaks for entrees, great wines, and desserts. Was excellent, service impeccable.

Drift was a truly pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a really friendly, attentive and helpful service crew who couldn't do enough to attend to our experience. We enjoyed lovely amuse bouche - a watermelon and feta concoction. Our starters arrive beautifully presented - a salmon tartare and a sashimi. We moved on to the mains - pork belly and scallops and mussels. All were very nicely presented and even tastier than they looked. The service was slow paced so we could enjoy the meal experience. The wine list was pretty good and we settled on a lovely Gavi Di Gavi after some wonderfully made cocktails. Dinner was completed with specialist coffee. A lovely experience. Staff did a couple of proactive things when they noticed we needed extra attention with the children. It was a nice touch.
