Dressler's Restaurant - Birkdale Village Ratings and Reviews
Our opinion, Dressler's is the best upscale dining restaurant in Lake Norman area. We love this place for special occasions, and anytime you want to have a really great meal. Their food and their service is outstanding. As special bargain, they sometimes post deals on Groupon.
Another enjoyable dining experience at Dressler's.
I had the short ribs and a Cesar salad. The ribs were excellent. Flavorful and tender enough I did not need a knife. The ribs were served over mashed potatoes with a flavorful sauce. The Cesar salad great, although I miss having an anchovy or two. My wife had the crab cakes and a chopped salad. The crab cakes were heavy on crab and very light on other ingredients, just the way they should be. I had a glass of Hahn Pinot Noir and she had a glass of Velvet Devil Merlot. Both were outstanding company to the food.
Ashley was our server. Attentive service without being intrusive.
We definitely will return.
Been to Dressler's several times. Never disappointed, not only with the meal, but also the service. Our server, Brian, was very attentive and just a pleasure to talk with. If you're looking for a delicious meal, great service and a nice atmosphere, I think you'll be very pleased with Dressler's !!!
Always great food and a great time at Dressler's. Great food, exception service -- right down to the Valet having the car out front right at the time of our exit. Our group of 7 were even seated 5 minutes before our reservation time on a packed night. Can't wait to come back.
A group of friends went for restaurant week. The apps were very good particularly the goat cheese, onion, and chutney. The calamari was a little unique and very good. I had the crab cakes and highly recommend. I went for the mom’s carrot cake I should have passed on and opted for the molten cake. Worth the value $35 value.
I must say I don’t care for electronic wine list. It’s too hard to decide on wine or drink when there is just one ipad per table.
Maybe my expectations were just too high. The starter of warm pimento and cheese was good except for the cold tomato jam on top. Same cold bread that was used for the appetizer was used for the table. We split a Caesar salad that had very little flavor and ran on the dry side. Dinner for hubby was short rib and mashed potatoes. The short rib was way too strong and the potatoes were completely devoid of seasoning. He left meat on his plate which is a rare occurrence. I had the rack of lamb and it was delicious with the mustard crust. It came with the same bland potatoes. Our dessert of Mom’s cheesecake was amazing and paired with a 20 year tawny port made it sublime.
Service was mostly good until the check came. We used an Open Table $100 voucher and our waiter only took off $50. He ran it again and we saw where he charged us for two glasses of scotch when we only had one. He swore the bartender had taken the extra glass off. It wasn’t worth arguing about so we left.
In sum, it was ok. We probably won’t go back. There are nicer restaurants with better food for less.
We have eaten at the Birkdale Village location several times over the last few years typically for either anniversaries or birthdays. Due to the costs of the meals there it's not something we can make a regular dinner location so it's just for special occasions. In all previous times the food was always exceptional and the service fantastic. We did not have that experience this time unfortunately. Our server was friendly however he was distracted by issues with another table and we did not get the attention we were used to seeing. I had the fish special that night and the flavor was not what was expected. My wife had the Lobster and Shrimp linguine and the amount of seafood included in the serving wouldn't have made a good bowl of chowder however the taste was good according to my wife. By the time our server had gotten back to us to ask how how our food was we had completed our meal. We were also seated next to a rather loud table of about 8-10 individuals and that was the first time we had experienced that.
In all previous times there we had been asked if we were there for a special occasion. We were not asked this time and it was our 20th wedding anniversary so that was disappointing. This fact was also noted in our Reservation request but was not acknowledged by the host desk either.
Up until this visit we would always recommend Dressler's but this was not one of those times.
The food was excellent. I had the crab cakes and oh my gosh they were to die for. For desert I had Mom's Apple Cake. That too was scrumptious. I took away one star for service because the waiter was a little frazzled and was forgetting a few things like a spoon for my tea. Also it was a little dark and hard to see the menu but other than that, a simply marvelous restaurant.
