Dray Bar & Grill
Dray offers Live Local Music every night of the week. On nice evenings we host live piano music on our baby grand inside, as well as a guitarist or duo on the patio.
We categorize our offerings as Innovative Comfort Food - I like to take recipes that everyone can relate to, and make them with the best ingredients, and give them a little twist. Our Chicken Fried Steak is a slice of Certified Angus Beef Ribeye, with a crisp buttermilk coating and rich black pepper chicken gravy - a best seller! While we have wings, we also do Buffalo Cauliflower bites - a vegetarian alternative!

The hostess was amazing!! It ended there. We ordered shrimp & grits without the grilled vegetables. When the waitress brought them, she said “he put the vegetables on anyway.” We had to pick all of the veggies off. The grits were very bland. We also ordered a 2nd order of pimento cheese balls that we never received.
We had the Dray burger and Avo Crabwich with homemade chips. Both were delicious, and the live music was nice.
Menu is not large, but has good choices. The option of inside or outside dining is good. % of us in party all enjoyed our meals - Halibut was excellent.
Server was good although there was a mix up over one item which delayed its arrival. The staff handled it well and one of managers explained situation and was very apologetic , and made everything OK.
Food was very good! We would most def go back again and refer friends !
Wonderful atmosphere, attentive service, fabulous food.
I made a reservation for 5 outside and there was live music. We really enjoyed our server, and the food was excellent! We liked the music, but it was so loud we could not carry on a conversation. At our request, our server kindly asked the performer if he could turn down the volume a little, but we could not tell if he did. We liked the music, but we were there for dinner and conversation, not a concert. Sorry to say that we were not able to enjoy our evening and each other’s company as much as we would have liked.
Lovely evening to sit outside and I’m glad because the piano inside was much too loud. Good food as always but the service was a little slow (as it is most places these days.).
We are from Charlotte and we thoroughly enjoyed the Dray Bar & Grill and will be going back SOON, the recommendation on the desert was spot on ( Bread pudding )
Piano music, cool decor, great service, good food, great cocktails
Cool space, very nice dining room, live music on the piano was a bit too loud and prevented us for having much dinner conversation. Server, Taya (?) was very helpful and friendly. We really enjoy the sandwiches we get while at Plankowner Brewing which is provided by Dray B&G, so we intentionally ordered nicer meals while visiting Dray B&G so we could get a good gauge of the cuisine. The food was decent. We ordered the stuffed portobello but the pesto sauce tasted like it was "store bought" and not scratch made. Also ordered the boneless pork chop special which was pretty good just a little dry. Our craft cocktails were very good.
My wife and I genuinely want to like Dray Bar, but they keep stumbling. Last night they were about 40% full. I understand staffing issues but they clearly have plenty of people out front. They simply can’t execute in the kitchen. Not a big deal they are out of things (calamari appetizer) but it would be better to tell a guest before they looked over the menu and made that choice. After our next choice apps were cleared, it was taking far too long for our entrees when the waitress approached us and explained that they had literally dropped one of our entrees on the floor. She indicated that they would put a rush on the do-over (a grilled chicken sandwich). That second attempt took yet another 45 minutes, so long my wife and I were joking that the chef had obviously quit. The waitress kept apologizing and offered a free dessert, which we declined. A visit from the manager/owner would have been appreciated. This kind of thing has happened about every other time we have decided need here. Not the fault of the waitress but rather a kitchen that simply cannot produce food consistently even when the restaurant isn’t busy.
Excellent food and excellent service. It can be a little noisy especially if there's the piano player. Which makes having a conversation difficult. Outside of that we enjoyed ourselves!
Very good but chicken was a little tough. A little pricey for the amount of food. But overall, very good
Love The Dray. The food is always good. It was anniversary lunch. I thought they may have done something special, but our server said only for birthdays. Server was excellent also. I don’t recall her name, but she is having twins.
Great food and wonderful service….
Our waiter was fabulous but the food was mediocre at best. The drinks and dessert were the hi light of the entire meal. The guy playing guitar was not great and we wished he took more breaks. Overall it seems the Dray has slipped with their food quality. It was not our best experience, unfortunately.
Too expensive for what you get , $22 for a small bone in piece of thigh meat in the Chicken Risotto. $26 for shrimp Alfredo with fancy name. $28 for salmon come on really I can buy 3 lbs of salmon at Costco for that price. It’s normal food at an upscale price with waitresses dressed like they work at Hooters. Great desserts
Sorry you didn't enjoy. Our chicken risotto is not thigh meat, but breast, and our Salmon is brought in fresh just about every day. We are committed to serving fresh and when available local ingredients, cooked to order.
Unfortunately, our experience at Dray was not as expected. Service was very slow in the beginning and food not as good as usual. I still recommend this restaurant and will visit again soon. Everyone has an off day...
Waitress was AWESOME ,little on loud side with piano.Food was great.Still rate a 10
As always a great experience. We have eaten there numerous times
And It always is excellent ‘
We waited for about 45 minutes for our food (entrees) to arrive and some of it was lukewarm. It wasn’t exceptional in terms of flavor but it certainly wasn’t bad either. We were underwhelmed overall. While it’s never acceptable for food to be delivered lukewarm, for the price point in this locale I (we) expect more. One note: the server/kitchen did kindly honor our request for a kids burger and this did not go unnoticed. It was not a regular kids menu offering.
Before working late
Be here many times and always exceeds expectations. Went there recently for my father-in-law's 96 birthday. We had great service and food was fantastic. Highly recommend The Dray.
Nice outdoor table in shade and excellent wait staff
Dray Bar is my favorite restaurant in Spartanburg!
Love this place, food and atmosphere. Haven't tried anything we didn't like. Highly recommend ordering of the specials list.
Dray always exceeds our expectations! Bottomless mimosas, delicious food, and outstanding service from Evie! She was welcoming and sweet, and made our experience even more enjoyable! The Crabcakes Benedict (with lobster hollandaise!!) was absolutely delicious! Steve Nadeau was fantastic on the piano! Thank y'all for a wonderful Brunch! We will definitely be back!!!
Great food. Music to loud. Play softer music for atmosphere
Our first time at Dray and we will definitely be back. Great service, nice size portions, and nice selection.
Great food, service and atmosphere.
Dray Bar was great! Enjoyed the food and the piano player.
Always good service and food.
Very slow service took close to an hour for us to get our food. Waitress apologized and said kitchen was behind because of a party in private dining room. The staff should have been prepared they knew the party was going to be there. There were not that many regular customers .
I apologize for the delay in food service. ...this is not a norm for us... I am very sorry, I understand your feedback and truly appreciate it!
I was looking for a non chain restaurant. I was very pleased at the atmosphere, the staff was fantastic a s the food was delicious. The outdoor piano bar was icing on the cake.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review! I'm glad you enjoyed!
Usually a great dining experience but we waited an hour on our food. The waitress was very pleasant and did her best. Some meals were hot and fresh and the others were not.
I apologize for the wait, and the temperature of your food... Thank you for taking the time to let us know!
We and our friends love their famous Champagne Shrimp!!!
We got a last minute reservation for Father’s Day brunch. They had availability on the patio and it stopped raining when we left church so we snagged it. The service was okay but I could tell that the patio tables were an afterthought due to the forecast of rain all day. The food was amazing as it always is! We will definitely be back but next time, we’ll be sure to reserve in advance.
Thank you for taking the time to let us know... We're glad you enjoyed your meal and look forward to serving you again!
We took the drive out for Father’s Day and honestly weren’t wowed. Came for Brunch and Food was just ok. Not something we’d take the time to come back out and try again. Place wasn’t too busy yet it took us an hour to get our food. Our Server was kind and did a great job,
she was the silver lining in this experience.
I apologize for the delay in receiving your food, but thank you for letting us know.
We ended up choosing to sit at the bar and it was great. The bartenders were friendly and fun. The food was great between the appetizer, main course, and even desert. I would highly recommend this spot!
Thank you for your recommendation! I'm please you enjoy everything, I look for ward to serving you again.
