Drakes Sonoma Coast
Our beverage program is headed by Sonoma County native Director of Food and Beverage Bill Govan who has longstanding associations with many in the local food, wine and farming communities. We have a full bar and offer wonderful local non-alcoholic options as well. Our wine list features almost exclusively Sonoma County wines and beers as we love to support our neighbors who help make Sonoma County the Tuscany or Provence of America.
It was a rainy day when we visited but the view was still great! The food was excellent and staff was friendly.
They made the best of a power outage! Some menu options were unavailable, but the cheese plate, gnocchi, mussels, and fruit parfait were quite good. Plus the view, even on a rainy night. We don’t know if this was their best work but we enjoyed ourselves and it will sure make a good story. :-)
We went for Mother’s Day brunch, and had a great experience! Food was delicious, drinks were tasty, service was great and the ambiance was beautiful! Definitely will be back very soon!
Our server did not seem to care and messed up on our order and when we told him all he said was that was my fault and offered nothing to fix it. He was not attentive at all. We are surprised he is still there with his attitude he has. Too nice of a restaurant to receive this kind of service. He needs to go. I would not eat there again if he was our server. We are locals too. It was my birthday celebration with our kids and not the kind of experience I was expecting since we eat there often.
Short of fresh sea food on menu. One of 2 NY steaks was full of gristle. No offer of compensation. Excellent service, beautiful view. They honored our request for a window table and remembered it was a birthday occasion which was very nice and the service was impeccable. Bar service was slow.
Had to wait for champagne to be chilled and the flat bread was burnt but nice chill place and view
Not impressed with the food for such an upscale restaurant.
Our flatbread was barely warm and appeared to have been reheated and not freshly prepared.
I had scallops for my main course, and felt sand on my teeth in several of them. My husband's duck was OK but not overly tender.
Service was very nice and friendly; we weren't charged for the flatbread.
Food was great! Presentation was great! Our only trouble came when paying the bill. I had VISA gift card that should have been able to be used just like a credit card. The waiter couldn’t be bothered with it and told us the restaurant wouldn’t accept gift cards. That’s not right. BTW, Terrapin took it the next night without blinking an eye.
This restaruant is part of a hotel experience. It is priced just as most hotel restarurants would be. Expensive. When the weather is clear it has a great view of Doran Beach peninsula and the ocean in the distance. Our service this evening was not attentive enough for the price. Waited too long for waiter to approch us even with 6-7 empty tables in the room. Had to ask waiter for drinks before we ordered our food. And water was never refilled. When I finally asked for water it was a long wait until I received it. Not looking to go back soon. Food was delicious and pricey.
Wonderful Easter breakfast! Beautiful day to be at the coast.
Staff is very attentive without being intrusive. Very good food, excellent view of the harbor.
The view was just stunning, the service very friendly and warm and the food was very good. Perfect end to a day on the Cali coast!
A beautiful overnight at Bodega Bay Lodge brought me to Drakes for a fabulous dinner. A window side table allowed a gorgeous view of the bay and sunset. The service was impeccable and the sea bass was delicious. Can’t wait to visit again during my next visit.
great cocktails, great service! Loved that they had vegan impossible burger!
The restaurant itself is nice enough, good ambiance and a pretty view... Everything else is lacking in every area. The service is exceptionally slow, and the staff is inattentive at best. The food wasn't all terrible, but much of it was. Definitely not worth the price point in any way shape or form. As long as you are not expecting fine dining, and you dont mind a 3 hour meal of barely mediocre food, this place might be worth the view.... will definitely not be returning.
Great waitress, didn’t rush us. Unfortunately they were unable to honor my request of a window table.
Delicious crab cakes and lovely cocktails. The service was so attentive. Jen was the perfect host/manager of a special evening. All of our entrees were perfectly prepared. We also loved the new decor.
Wonderful cozy restaurant with superb views of Bodega Bay. I had a superb chicken, brined, and roasted to caramalized beautifully seasoned perfection....nicely framed with delicious greens, potatoes and a truly unctuous pan sauce.
It’s a nice idea for the chef to be creative with crab cakes but the smoked paprika in the sauce overpowered the crab flavor.
The kale Caesar had a nice coating of Parmesan but unremarkable dressing.
It may seem like a small thing but the only
part of our dinner that was disappointing was the taste of the water brought to the table, which had a foul chlorine smell and taste. This was not the case at another upscale restaurant my wife and I dined at called Terrapin, a mile away so perhaps a water filtration system could remedy this.
Drakes provided a lovely dining experience. From the warm greeting from the hostess to the professional wait staff and excellent food, we really enjoyed dining here. Having a table by the window where we could see the bay and the ocean was definitely the frosting on the cake. I highly recommend this restaurant and lodge!
Lovely view and location, attentive staff but the quality of the food did not merit the high prices. Also the water had a bad taste; they need to install a filtration system or add lemon to the water.
Amazing views, service, and cuisine. We had breakfast and dinner here multiple times during our stay
The restaurant is beautiful as well as the view. The service was average, disappointing for an “upscale” restaurant. The baby spinach and kale salad was terrible . My husbands meal was over cooked and was sent back, the new filet mignon was cooked incorrectly again, but at this point we gave up. We were also charged twice for the same meal, which upon me bring it to the hotels attention they finally refunded with their apologies.
Joaguin and hostess made our evening! Thank you!
Drake's was the perfect place to celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary. The food was excellent and the service was the best we have ever had. Just an all out enjoyable and memorable evening.
Fabulous in every way!
This is for Drake’s Lounge & Bar. The views and overall ambiance is outstanding. For lunch we enjoyed sitting at the bar overlooking Bodega Bay, for dinner and breakfast we enjoyed sitting by the fireplace. The service is excellent and the chef does a beautiful job with presentation. I really appreciate how the Chef purchases foods and spirits directly from local farmers and businesses. For dinner, I had the scallops and they were excellent. My husband enjoyed the surf and turf, as well as the pepper and lamb appetizer our server recommended. For dessert I had their vanilla gelato made from buffalo milk that I enjoyed. After dinner we relaxed outside next to a gas fire pit and sipped after dinner cocktails with a view of Bodega Bay. We can not wait to return to Drakes again in the near future.
We have an amazing time. Food was awesome and my fiancé had a great birthday. We will be back.
Loved the ambiance and had great service but found the food to be overpriced for what it was.
Been coming here for years through many iterations and therefore many chefs. You can not beat the location, view or ambience. Wait staff was attentive but not overly so. None of us were knocked out by the food or choices. Satisfying but then you look at what you paid and then overall it is in a medium category.
We have had several excellent meals here. The wait staff was especially friendly & efficient this time.
good food nice view and good service plus close for us that live out here. They also have nice rooms for people to stay
We have had many nice meals at Drakes over the years, however, this day before V-Day price fixe was disappointing and hard to swallow after paying $250.00 for two people. The food quality was average and not at all satisfying.
Sorry, all you get is a one duck rating from a couple of local patrons. Would think twice before attempting it again.
Had a very nice meal... Stormy night on the coast and the service was very good.
The New York Steak was delicious and done exactly as I requested.
Wonderful food! Service was so-so, unfortunately. We could have corrected the service issue had the waitress ever returned to the table to see how we were doing and what we were still missing.
My husband had a salmon special which he said was excellent. I had the chicken under brick which was very good but would have liked more vegetables with the dish.
We had a lovely dinner with some disappointments. The crab cake starter was outstanding, among the best I've had. The New England clam chowder wasn't far behind. Duck was quite good. However, a scallop entree was much too salty undermining the otherwise creative presentation. I would certainly try it again on another night and hope for better. Staff were uniformly helpful and friendly.
Make sure to try the Crab cakes they are amazing. We loved all our dishes, The Lamb chops the salmon and the Scallops were delicious. Definitely comfort food.
Awesome! Took my date there for a birthday celebration. They made her feel like she owned the joint!
