We take as much pride in our vintners as we do in our farmers, and we hope to share the bounty of our region with every guest. Our wine program aims to highlight some of our favorite local producers, big and small, along with the many varietals we can offer due to the diversity of our land. And though our bias is towards the wines of Sonoma County, we also feature a handful of international wines lovingly selected to pair with our cuisine. The seating is wonderful and staff is nice.
We ordered the fried calamari, clam chowder, flatbread, and crab risotto. The calamari was not cooked all the way through and the batter was wet and fell off of it. The clam chowder was very good. Be aware that it has bacon in it. The flatbread and risotto were both tasty but did not come out hot. Good spot to grab a drink and enjoy the views but not sure I would dine here again.
Drakes is in the heart of California's culinary Mecca, so they should know better. The food was bland and boring. My tuna had too much sesame oil, which masked any tuna flavor--no salt. The crisp nori attempt on the side was crispy, but again tasteless. The vegetable soup also lacked any base in the stock; even the vegetables were over-cooked and bland. My husband's chicken was cooked perfectly, but had nothing else going on in the dish. My son't pizza tasted like the sauce was tomato paste straight from the can, and the dough was not completely cooked in the center. It was like the chef learned everything from looking at pretty cooking magazines, but not by tasting any of the dishes. It all looked pretty on the plate, but the kitchen had no idea how to make tasty food. For the high price point, I expected something much, much better. Bodega Bay has plenty of other yummy places with the same view.
Our waiter, Zach was great and the cioppino was outstanding as was the risotto. Bartender makes really good mocktails, too.
We went early on a Tuesday and so we practically had the place to ourselves. The food was great. Their clam chowder has bacon in it yum! I also enjoyed the salmon for my entree and the gelato. My dessert was free for my birthday wow! The fireside outdoor seating is lovely.
Beautiful venue and food was delicious. Perfect setting for a relaxing dinner. I loved the baby kale that came with my New York Steak. I like my rum cake moister.
Great food and wine... A little loud but people were clearly having a good time.
Views and comfort
The restaurant has been nice revamped and is very inviting with a big fireplace on one end. The menu didn’t feature any fish items except for salmon, but their salads and other dishes were delightful. Complimentary birthday dessert was a sweet surprise.
Our first visit to the Bodega Bay Lodge was very pleasant. Drakes was a great way to end our arrival day. Bouillabaisse was delicious with light broth and plenty of tender seafood morsels. Pork chop was simply amazing with very flavorful spices. Viewers excellent. Service was exceptional. All lodge staff provided outstanding service!
This is a wonderful rest stop on the Hiway 1 near Bodega Bay, part of a Woodside group hotel property. Great food, great service nice bar! Well worth a stop.
Absolutely recommend Drakes! I dined here with my partner for our "Valentines Day" (was actually three days after the holiday), and we were treated to a wonderfully polite and humourous server, Joaquin. The manager made sure to stop by twice and ensure all of our needs were met and the ambiance (including the view of Doran beach) was well worth the money spent. Food was divine, as were the drinks. Job well done all around!
Made reservations weeks in advance and was the first ones to check in for 5:45 reservations, reminding the host it was my husbands 65th birthday. When we checked back for our table all the view tables had been given away, including one to a family with several small children. I was very disappointed. Our salads were served and mine was missing salad dressing. I waited for ten minutes for the waiter to check back on us or to get someone’s attention. I finally got up from the table and went to the wait station and asked for some dressing. The food was ok. Everyone was very nice when they were waiting on us but the whole experience was disappointing. We wouldn’t go back.
Special Valentines Day menu...over priced actually. Food was good but not $79 per person good. Really mediocre service. I booked January 2 (way in advance) to get a nice table and we were given options upon arrival where to sit but all the booths and window tables were taken. It wasn’t awful but just wasn’t as special as we’d expected given that they emailed us the menu and personally called to make sure we would be there a couple days in advance. Have eaten there in the past (not on a special holiday) and really loved it.
Only as a second chance to try the main menu. Granted it was Valentines Day, but I made the reservation about 2 months prior and told them it was a special occasion on top of Valentines Day. We were staying at the lodge and were right on time. They tried to sit us next to the kitchen first and then the host walked around looking for a table and we finally chose 1 of the 3 crappy ones available after I asked for a window seat. I was literally sitting 2 ft away from the next couple. If you're not going to hold a table that I had requested for a reservation then why even ask. Then as I unexpectedly found out a couple of weeks prior in an email, there was a price fixe menu that night. In Bodega Bay you are in oyster country and we have them all the time and make them very well. The oysters that came out as an appetizer were so gross we didn't finish them. The rest of the meal was average at best.
Every dining experience at Drakes is always above expectations. The food and service was exceptional!

Absolutely wonderful experience. We celebrated my wife's birthday here, and our 6-mo daughter joined us. The wait-staff and server was very accommodating and empathetic to dining with a baby. Service was awesome, and the food was very flavorful.

As part of Bodega Bay Lodge, Drakes Sonoma Coast is a delightful venue looking at Bodega Bay in the distance. As a main course, their salmon was one of the best prepared and presented salmon dishes I've ever enjoyed. My wife's crab risotto was rich, creamy and outstanding as well. We would both recommend Drakes and look forward to returning. Only slight downside was their limited wine-by-the-glass menu, otherwise a perfect evening.
My wife is vegan and she was amazed at just how delicious her meal was. The presentation was awesome and it tasted fantastic to her. She was definitely surprised and very satisfied with her delicious meal. My salmon was also prepared very nicely and it was tasty and filling as well!
Very nice place to have a romantic evening, great views. The menu is a little small, would like to see more variety of fish. We had the Ahi tuna, and the Lobster & Crab Risotto, both delicious, and served nice and hot

Excellent food, from the dlectable fried calamari to the risotto specials (crab one evening, then truffle another), perfect salads and great drinks and service.
when we arrived for our 12 o’clock reservations the restaurant was open, but there was absolutely no one in the building. we searched everywhere for anyone that could help us, even looked in the back areas, absolutely nobody. After about 10 minutes we left
Our waiter Joaquin did a fantastic job of assisting us with our order & Amy assisted with our water & bread request.
The ambience was great and the food was good. Our server kept disappearing and never checked on our table. He never asked if the food was good or how we were doing. We even had to ask for our check. I did notice the other servers checked on their tables at least 5 or 6 times while we never saw our server.
It was quiet so we could talk, the food excellent and the waitress friendly and attentive and helpful, well paced, nice wine list...great to share a dinner with friends.
This is a hidden gem. We had reservations for Christmas Eve and the place was packed! Service was great even though they were in the weeds. All the dishes were tasty, balanced and clever. The 4 of us all had different dishes . The seafood was very fresh. We will definitely return. Very cool outside lounge but literally freezing out so we will be back to enjoy next time. Very impressed.

The food was very good, the wine selection is good but pricing is a little proud. The waitress knew why we were there (the occasion) and excellent along with supporting staff. I like that each part of the dinner was separate and not rushed. The dessert menu was not enticing but was not bad either. We would go here again!!’
Limited choices in Bodega Bay, so this is a decent spot. Would be better for lunch, for the view. For dinner, it was overpriced compared to what you get. The dining area looks like a dressed up normal hotel dining area, but not the upper class restaurant it wants to be. I would choose Lucas Wharf instead. The lodge itself is a definite place to stay however. The restaurant was not bad and would be good if you are staying there and didn’t want to leave to drive up the road.
If you do it right, your meal will be about $125-$150 (without alcohol), but every piece of the meal is outstanding. We had the Crab Risotto, Caesar Salad and Clam Chowder. The Bread that came out was some of the best we've had, the Clam Chowder is also a real treat. The presentation and flavor of the Caesar Salad is what you'd expect from find dining and the Crab Risotto was unique and a real treat. We visit the Drakes every time we come to the Bodega Bay Lodge and will again.
we have been to this restaurant several times but this time we were not impressed with our food. the choices, the taste, and presentation needs to be a lot better.

Everything except the food was great. The flavors of the food were flat and under seasoned. The presentation looked good but someone in the kitchen needs to be tasting the food. The filet mignon was the shape of a ball and very tough, yet rare in the middle, not sure how that happens unless it was not a filet. Unfortunately all our meals were just meh. The servers were awesome, the place is awesome. Just the food was....
