We always have a nice time - we took friends who hadn't been before and it turned out well. The food and atmosphere very nice.
One of our go to places in Bend. Excellent, as usual.
Fantastic menu, everything executed impeccably. A lot of vegetarian options.
Drake is always a classic favorite of ours. The food and service is always decent. The restaurant always tends to be a little smokey from the grill in the middle of the restaurant. Comfortable but tiny tables for two
For the first time we were disappointed with our reservation/wait time. We had to wait almost 30 minutes past our reservation before our table was available. This was for a special event (birthday) and it was disappointing to have to wait so long past our reservation.
Always a great place! Love the fried chicken
Super fun and yummy. We love to go to Drake.
The summer menu was exciting and delicious, but I wasn’t so jazzed about the winter menu. I didn’t want any of the starters, the main dishes just didn’t entice me. It’s at least partly my own fault because I don’t like spicy food.
Awesome food and cocktails from start to finish. The grilled kale salad was absolutely memorable and the gnocchi were perfect. We even finished off the meal with the butterscotch pudding, which may sound a little pedestrian, but my wife quietly admitted that it was as good, possibly better, than her grandmother’s homemade butterscotch pudding.
From the beginning, our waiter lacked in most every aspect of restaurant etiquette. We got the feeling like she didn’t even try to do her job well and didn’t care about our dining experience. She didn’t tell us the nightly specials so we weren’t even aware there were more food options than what was on the menu. The specials would have changed my food order decision. We had to ask our waiter to fill our water glasses three times and when she did, she left the glasses at the edge of the table and didn’t give them back to the person. She had an attitude and only came to check on us once during our meal. I accidentally dropped my napkin on the dirty floor and asked for another. She forgot and I had to remind her and then she didn’t even seem to care. She didn’t ask if we wanted another drink and didn’t ask how the food was. We ordered an appetizer and, after an extremely long wait, it was brought to our table 1 minute before our entrees got there. By the time we got to our entrees, they were already getting cold. We had to wait almost twenty minutes for our waiter to bring the check after we finished our meal and, come to think of it, she didn’t even ask if we wanted dessert.
Two of the three meals were superb. The hummus appetizer was delicious and the gnocchi was divine! How the pasta missed the mark. The menu had clams as the main ingredient but I couldn’t even find a clam in the pasta whatsoever, and it tasted bland.
It’s a shame that the service was so poor because the food did seem to be pretty good. Would not want to go back since the service was horrible in my total of two visits there.
We enjoyed dinner for 5 of us here before a show at the Tower. The Flat Iron steak and the crispy Brussel sprouts were delish -- my husband and I shared them and it was plenty. We were 5 of us in a booth -- a bit snug. Better for 4 people. Service was perfect.
A favorite place. Food is always well prepared and well presented. Love that they do no "overdress" the salads, letting the individual food flavors dominate. Noise level is just enough that you are not aware of conversations near you. Staff are great -- friendly, professional, well-informed.
Great food great service and awesome birthday lunch
Visiting from out of town
Fabulous evening...wine and food were exceptional....service was prompt. Great way to celebrate our 20th,anniversary...one request is to add some, pinot grid to wine selection!!!
From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the friendly hostess and seated. Our server, Lauren introduced herself and took our drink order, which was a PERFECT Kettle 1 martini. BTW, the bartender really provided a performance in the shaking of our drink. Our dinner orders given after though explanations and suggestions. We thoroughly our dinner, the service and atmosphere. Also, we were never rushed .As a "local" we will return.
Overall it was just OK , not as good as what we have experienced in the past . I think the kitchen was having a bad day, lots of pans crashing making it a bit distracting for those of us in the dining room. I get the fact that it's a open kitchen but it was over the top.
Went there for dinner with my wife. I like the atmosphere/ambience but the food was just OK. My wife had the flat iron and said it was cooked to perfection but was a little tough. I had a crab cake and which seemed extremely moist - underdone? unless that is what they were going for. Everything was fine but it seems like something I could have whipped myself , nothing special.
Loved this place! Dining here was a pleasure-delicious food, prompt and efficient service, atmosphere was lively and lots of fun!!
The ambiance was lively and atmosphere was pleasant. Unfortunately, that was the only nice thing about our visit. The service was lacking and the food was extremely disappointing. The fried chicken completely lacked flavor or seasoning of any kind. The burger was mediocre, and the fries were so salty, they were nearly inedible. I'm hoping our experience was just a fluke because the restaurant had high marks from other reviewers. However, we won't be back to see if it was. There are plenty of other restaurants in downtown to try before we ever do back to Drake.
Reservations , taken in as soon as we arrived .
Friday the bar and restaurant were both full . Service was attentive .and polite
We both enjoyed our meals and will be back .
Nice job all the way around .👍
Thank you so much for the great review!! We look forward to seeing you again.
Drake is located at the corner of Franklin and Wall, in downtown Bend. Long narrow restaurant with bar on one side and booths, tables on the other along windows. Cozy, pleasant ambiance. Craft cocktails--many good choices--plus traditional options. Good wine list. The service and food were very good; I had pork schnitzel and my wife had hanger steak--we would recommend these options and order them next time, as well. We selected this from our tour book plus reviews, and were not disappointed. I would recommend this to anyone wanting fine dining in downtown Bend, and we would return next time we are in town.
Great place, great food!
The restaurant was visited on a Tuesday night . The meal was served in a inconsistent manner where 2 meals were brought out at a time about 10 minutes apart . The food was below average at best and the service was slow and confusing.
In a competitive market , Drake needs to do better in order to survive ...
Great breakfast! I got the chicken and waffles. Very good. Great waiter too! We loved the spiced popcorn we got when we were seated. The only down side was they ran out of several things which was disappointing to the others.
It was a Saturday night so it was crowded. Reservation worked well. Waitress neglected to mention specials on the board above bar, which we didn't notice. Good Mediterranean salad, large portion. I had schnitzel which was not very good. Large portion, though. Husband had steak and potato which was a bit better. Probably just ordered the wrong dish!
Great lunch date for lunch. Had reservations but did have to wait some. Service was great!
Another fantastic lunch at The Drake. Can’t beat it!
We both had the sockeye special. It came with a wonderful potato & crab cake. It was one of the best dinners we’ve ever had in Bend (we’ve been here six years). Chef John continues to create outstanding meals and Ted and Jenna provide a warm and hospitable environment. The service, by Sawyer’s mom was superb. While we also enjoy Washington, Drake will continue to be our go to place.
We went to celebrate my sister's and my birthday with friends. The service was prompt and friendly and all of liked what we ordered.
Anniversary dinner. Also great service. Drinks were great. Food not what I was expecting but the chicken was still amazing!
Our reservation was ready on time. It was a bit loud in the restaurant. The specials were great and the service was great. Our anniversary was not acknowledged, little disappointed, but oh well.
Meh and undistinguished. Limited menu with a decent wine selection. Service felt a bit rushed and impersonal but it was dinner time in a resort town so maybe that’s the norm. I guess I expected more the the “best place in town”
Food and service was outstanding. We had a good time catching up with the setting we were out. Noise did create hearing issues and would encourage having an acoustic engineer check it out.
Very nice as always
We are never disappointed by the dining experience at Drake. It began with their honoring my request for an outdoor table; it was a prefect evening for al fresco dining. I almost always go for their fish special; it was halibut on Saturday and it was grilled perfectly so it was moist and delicious. In our group, one person also ordered the halibut, one had the fried chicken and one the crab cakes; all were pleased with their dinners. The only downside was that the main dishes arrived a bit too soon after the shishito peppers which we shared as an appetizer. They were delicious but we were only half-way through when the dinners arrived.
Had a great meal that we really enjoyed. Great drinks and service.
The pork chop & Drake burger are amazing! The service is excellent & fun. A little noisey as the afternoon went on.
The reason you have so many Monday night customers coming in for the special steak and frites is because I can't help sharing the best deal in Bend! My Bible study people come for it, all my Riverfront neighbors come for it and so do my cousins! Now I need to make reservations for it! I should quit telling everyone how great it is!
We gave been to Drakes before but not for awhile. Our daughter purchased us a gift card for my wife's birthday so we went on a Saturday night. We had reservations and we did get seated promptly. Had a nice wine. Ordered dinners. When the dinners were delivered, the one they brought to my wife was not what she ordered (she ordered a pasta dish). Mistake number one. They took it back and cooked her the correct meal. In the meantime, she had me eat my dinner so that it would not get cold, so we basically ate separately. They apologized but still billed us for the regular meal prices with no compensation for their error. Mistake number two. Not a good sign. It will be awhile before we go back.
