Can only say great things about our dinner. From service to food, to talking to the chef. It was all great, and they new we had to get out for theater and there was no issues.
We were going to the opera on a Saturday night so we made an early (5:30 pm) reservation. The restaurant was not crowded, and the first question from the waiter was, "Are you going to the theater?" As soon as we gave him the details, he assured us we'd be out in plenty of time to make the curtain. He was most helpful with the menu and the food arrived with dispatch and was excellent. As the meal wore on, the restaurant gained more diners and a large group was seated at a nearby table. Normally that kills all our conversation because large groups generally are dominated by loud shouters and louder laughers, but this group was better behaved than most and we were able to hold a conversation throughout the meal. One of us tried a lamb shank -- a special dish -- and we both agreed it was the best lamb dish we've ever tasted. The Branzino was also the best iteration of that fish I've ever had. The waiter was helpful in guiding us to the shuttle that took us directly to the theater in plenty of time for the curtain. A really satisfying experience.
Posted menu is not what is actually on the menu. This was a huge disappointment since the reservation was made based on the posted menu and the fact we had that missing item at an event. We debated leaving, but the server was so good, apologetic and attentive we stayed and had a spectacular pasta with white truffle, buratta salad and a comped cannolo! So while we were disappointed, the wine, food and service made up for the menu.
Ps- the server said they do plan to update the menu on line this week. A bit late for us....
Service was hit or miss and we had to call someone over several times.
Our food came out so fast it kind of defeated the purpose of having a business lunch here.
Very attentive knowledgeable service. Mellow relaxing atmosphere. Excellent food from truffles-pasta to salad to entrees to dessert. Worth a return visit.
It was our second time dining at your restaurant. We loved it! Can’t wait to return
Has been & continues to be a reliable, delicious, elegant dining experience.
We love going to Drago. We celebrated our wedding rehearsal dinner there and have been back many times for anniversaries.
Food was outstanding. Service was great. Definitely recommend.
Amazing food and service. We’re definitely going back.
I loved going to this restaurant when I worked at the Paul Hastings building — the ambiance is beautiful and the service excellent.
However, I also believe there is room for the food to be more authentically Italian — there were little misses, such as no cheese included in the charcuterie dish; flavors were a bit more Italian-American as opposed to Italian.
Overall, experience was great!
Always a nice civilized restaurant and a delicious meal. Good wines by the glass. Great for dinner before the theater or the LA Phil.
A class act from start to finish. One of the best breast of Duck I have ever had!
Excellent service and food. Loved this place. Will be back
One of the best meals I have ever had.
This is our favorite restaurant and we have dined here many times. Actually, this is my first choice when we are in downtown to see performances at the Music Center. We are season subscribers at the Ahmanson for at least ten years. Usually our reviews are 5 star but this time we were disappointed with our meals. The Ahi appetizer was poor. Only two chunks and dry and tasteless. The presentation of the Oso Buco was attractive but it was also dry and lacked flavor. The scallops entree was delicious and was really the best part of the meal but the portion size of three rather small scallops and felt more like an appetizer than a main course. As we love the restaurant, our first choice, we will return again and hope for improvement.
Excellent food and service, but it is very expensive.
Our second time at Drago Centro. The excellent service, pleasant, beautiful surroundings and excellent food will have us coming back yet again.
We miss Italy but a trip to spectacular Drago Centro makes up for it.... incredible food, great view and wonderful atmosphere
Love going to Drago! Ordered an osso buco special which was delicious and a beautiful presentation!
Service is always attentive. Always a special evening.....and a perfect start to the evening before a Disney Hall concert.
Delicious food, excellent service and a great table outside by the fountain. Pleasant and quiet. A bit pricey.
Wonderful restaurant! The service was exceptional, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to coming back.
A truly enjoyable evening!
The Osso Buco was perfectly cooked.
The food was excellent. The service friendly and efficient and the ambience lovely and quiet. We had a great evening at Drago
Perfect spot before going to the theater! Free shuttle located outside of the restaurant. The food is great. The wait staff is superb.
it was great food, mood..for me. everything was good.
Staff went over the top to provide a great experience for us, THANK YOU!!!
High end business fare but appropriately so. The service was great, but could still use some tuning. I'm just asking that when serving, it's appropriate to not reach in front of someone as they maybe in part of an important conversation. That's all.
It’s always a delightful experience at Drago Centro.
Had a really nice lunch here, normally we go for dinner but couldn't make it that night to celebrate a birthday.
I ordered my favorite pasta pappardelle since it's usually so great and it did not disappoint. I am always curious about the other pastas but have never tried them before, this time I did two pasta dishes. Besides the pappardelle I ordered the linguine and clams. It was very good but it seemed to lack a little bit of flavor, it needed more garlic or salt. Glad I tried both. My husband had the halibut he said it was really tasty. We enjoyed the drinks we ordered. Dessert was nice also.
Our server was very nice and helpful. This always help make a meal enjoyable. So happy we were able to dine there.
Lovely restaurant and great location in Downtown LA. Food was good but portions were so small and found it a bit overpriced for the amount of food. Service and ambiance was really good though and it was a good experience overall
Salad avg, pasta w mushrooms delicious , fish okay
I was underwhelmed by this dining experience. The risotto was fairly mild in flavor - I am not a "salty" person but if there was a salt shaker, I would have definitely added more. The rice was also too al dente. I tasted my colleague's carbonara and surprisingly felt the same way, despite the presence of guanciale - flavorless. Two other colleagues ordered the bowtie vodka pasta and also felt that it was lacking salt/flavor. Surprising coming from such a fine dining establishment.
On the other hand, the service was excellent and the ambiance was nice.
Great place for business lunches DTLA. Here regularly and never disappointed with the food, service or ambiance.
Exceptional power lunch spot in DTLA.
We were a party of 6 for a birthday. Seated on the outside patio. Don’t sit there during the summer, too hot a d no fans! Our waiter screwed up our order, wasn’t attentive, didn’t listen to our requests and felt like he was doing us a favor by taking off the service charge! We enjoyed our food, but the service and environment killed the dining experience!
I have been to this restaurant several times but unfortunately will not be returning. The food was great but the service was horrible. We were a party of 6 and two of the people in our party were celebrating birthdays, which I put in the notes to my reservation. Sadly, due to the unfriendly nature of our server, it ruined our dinner. Thankfully the bus boy was great, tentative and very friendly and honestly, I wish he was our waiter and not a bus boy. We ordered drinks, appetizers, salads, our dinners and then dessert and coffee. Then when we were all finished with our dinner and the waiter was bringing our bill, he said, oh someone is celebrating a birthday? I will bring something out!! How inept since we were about to pay the bill and leave. How do you forget that someone is celebrating a birthday when it is right on the reservation? And once the bill was brought, I realized why the waiter was so inept and unfriendly. He did not have to do anything to get his 20% tip because it was already added on!! No where in the reservation or the website did it say that the tip is already added on. You may want to let your guests know this little fact, especially if they do not receive at the very least, decent service. I really wanted to ask for a manger because this waiter DID NOT deserve a 20% tip and the only reason I did not was because we were there to celebrate birthdays and I did not want to make the evening worse than it had already been. This waiter with his cold and condescending attitude, forgetting the birthdays at the table, providing terrible service, having to constantly ask for water refills and bread explains the horrible service when he knows good and well he does not have to do a thing to get his tip so in return he provides zero service. And how do you not let your guests know that you add on a 20% tip? This was such a let down, especially when we were there to celebrate and then we are forced to pay a tip that was so undeserving.
