Based in the coastal town of Folkestone, on the South-East coast of England, Dr Legumes is a Community Interest Company that uses plant-based food as a tool to communicate the ethos of health-conscious food within our local community. We are passionate about blending local and exotic flavours to create a unique plant based dining experience.

We are a community interest company, invested in providing accessible workshops to engage our community in the ethos of LIFE.MADE.BETTER Our workshops are designed to engage our local community by using food to promote and focus on health, well-being & sustainability. Dr Legumes prepared the most scrumptious sharing supper for a birthday celebration and I can't think of anywhere else so perfect! Delicious, innovative vegan menu in an uplifting environment, all imbued with the generosity of Lee and James.

We thought it was very poor value for money and unfortunately we didn't enjoy the food much at all either. We thought the batter on the mushroom tempura and courgette flower was unpleasant and stodgy. Also, it would be helpful if they could update their website to their current menu which no longer has any larger plates (at the time of writing the website menu is still different to the menu we were offered on 9th August). We felt the smaller plates were pretty expensive for the size of a starter. As longstanding vegans we like to support vegan restaurants but we felt quite ripped off and disappointed, and found much tastier (in our opinion) and better value vegan options at a pub the next evening.

My niece is a vegan, my husband and I are not. The food was absolutely amazing, nothing could be faulted. My husband has said that he thinks it is the best meal he has eaten out. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Thank you for a fantastic evening.

Dr Legumes is open Friday and Saturday evenings, but well worth the wait. The staff were wonderful and could not do more for you. We did not know what some of the things on the menu were and the chef actually came and explained the dishes in detail making suggestions and changes for intolerances. The food when it arrived was the most beautifully presented food I’ve have ever eaten; it was like a Michelin star restaurant and I do not exaggerate. We did not drink so I cannot comment on the wine but did note that a small glass of wine was £2 more than the restaurant the night before. We were so full that we took dessert away with us and this was fabulous too. We ate at three very good restaurants during our stay in Folkestone and you may be put off by Dr Legumes if you are not vegan, but don’t, go and you will love it!!

The food was delicious and the service was great. Portion sizes could have been a little bigger. We were hungry again not too long after leaving.
