About dp An American Brasserie
dp An American Brasserie, is a signature restaurant by Dominick Purnomo. It offers a menu of imaginative and inventive cuisine, over two dozen small plates, traditional favorites and a selection of Chef Yono’s signature menu items for lunch and dinner.
At just under 2000 sq ft with 18 foot ceilings and an abundance of natural lighting from six oversized windows, dp is a room that demands attention. Our dining room offers a mix of table & banquette seating in a decidedly more casual atmosphere than Yono’s.
It features a 25 foot custom mahogany and granite bar stocked with a full array of spirits, cordials, and of course myriad wines by the glass. We pride our beverage program on fresh, seasonally inspired cocktails, and a by the glass wine program, which changes several times per week, that rivals any in the region. Guests are also invited to peruse the 1,000 selection Wine Spectator “Best of Award of Excellence” winning Yono’s wine list.

dp An American Brasserie Ratings and Reviews
The menu is not very large, but very eclectic, with daily specials also. The service is what really stands out also. This was my second trip to this restaurant, and our waitress Jessica remembered both of our names from our first visit over 2 months previously. I highly recommend this restaurant. I'll be back.
DP An American Brasserie did an exceptional job of making our anniversary a very memorable occasion. Every single staff member made our experience exquisite. Starting with the hostess, who sat us in the most intimate setting in the restaurant. She even took the time to inform our server of what the occasion was for our celebration. The cocktail wine and beer list is extensive, picking the perfect drinks to pair with our meal was no problem thanks to our wonderful and attentive server! She was very in tuned to our desires and the food was on par with the rest of the night! I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion with a significant other.
We had a reservation at 5:30pm; 2 adults 2 kids (14&8) before the show. Our waitress was nice , but the food was not. It totally ruined our evening that day... we left the restaurant with a rip-off feeling. I ordered steak frites, my husband ordered duck, kids ordered 2 burgers. Appetizer was fried calamari. Sooo... fried calamari were so salty that no one was able to eat them. We waited about 30 min to get our food and guess what - the only thing that came out hot - was the duck. And that’s it. My steak frites were cold ( I never had a cold steak in my life - so here, there is always a first time for everything), kids’ burgers were cold as well .... the manager came out and offered to reheat my steak - wow, really? Well , she did and guess what - after she “reheated” it - the fries were extremely hot and dry as well as the plate itself, but not the steak- so I had to eat my steak cold.... the burgers were cold and inedible- kids left the restaurant hungry. We paid over $100 for who knows what.... please stay away from this rip off place - unless you want your food to be “ reheated”...
$20 kobe sliders over cooked- burned served in cold rolls. Chicken dumplings (3) arrived cold! Salad and onion soup were acceptable but not for what they cost. I spoke with the owner who to her credit was on the floor. She immediately apologized and told me that we would be paying for NOTHING but our drinks. When the bill came nothing had been deducted. I asked the waitress to pls see the owner for a bill adjust. When she returned we were charged for the soup and salad plus drinks. Really! We just paid and left w/o further ado. I can not recommend this establishment.
We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and we are so glad we did! The staff was friendly and professional. The bartender, Pete, was personable and informative. Walked us through a preview of both dp's and Yono's menu. The owners are present and accessible. Food choices are varied and our appetizers and entrees were delicious! Loved the atmosphere. We plan to go back soon.
We've eaten lunch at dp and have enjoyed it very much. But they crank up the music to a level that makes it impossible to talk. I think their demographic is people under the age of 60. The food at dp and it's partner, Yono's, is always a delight.
We had a great server and really enjoyed our appetizers, meals, and desserts. The Asian salmon was the only disappointment- just seemed like it had traditional barbecue sauce slathered all over it. Everything else was wonderful and we will go back for sure!
This was our first visit in a long time, and we were not disappointed. I tried the Pork Belly Fried Rice w/Poached Egg, and loved it! My friend tried the Prince Edward Island Mussels, also loved it. The staff was friendly, service was very good. We lacked for nothing. Thank you, we will return.
dp is one of our favorite restaurants along with the sister restaurant Yono's. The menu is very creative, the wine list is exceptional, the food very good along with very professional service. The noise level in dp is very high, especially at the end of the work day when the bar is quite busy. dp is one of the region's best restaurants, as long as peace and quiet are not musts.
My wife and I had a 930pm reservation at DP for Saturday night....pretty quiet inside but that meant the servers and bartender were super attentive. Food and drink options are really good and we enjoyed the small plates a bit more than the mains, but everything was really tasty. The Brussels sprouts are what dreams are made of!!!!
Always enjoy DP's. the food is consisted fine with specials to bring seasonal variety to the standard menu. The menu offers many dining options from grazing and small plates to perfectly prepared traditional, full-sized entree offerings. One of my favorite restaurants in Albany.
We visited before a show at the nearby Palace Theatre. Our party of 3 was squished into a table that is meant for 2. It was very loud - it was sometimes hard to hear each other. There were not a lot of food choices for a moderately priced before theater meal. However, the salad we all ordered was delicious. It could have used an option for adding chicken. Our server was attentive and friendly. Food came very fast and we felt like we were being a little rushed. Since we had time, we ordered dessert. Cheesecake was delicious and ample sized. Bananas Foster was adequate and good. Lemon tart was small, but good. The pretzel rolls put on the table are delicious but small - the size of donut holes, one per person. We had to ask for more. The bill was $29 each, including tax and gratuity.
