dp An American Brasserie
At just under 2000 sq ft with 18 foot ceilings and an abundance of natural lighting from six oversized windows, dp is a room that demands attention. Our dining room offers a mix of table & banquette seating in a decidedly more casual atmosphere than Yono’s.
It features a 25 foot custom mahogany and granite bar stocked with a full array of spirits, cordials, and of course myriad wines by the glass. We pride our beverage program on fresh, seasonally inspired cocktails, and a by the glass wine program, which changes several times per week, that rivals any in the region. Guests are also invited to peruse the 1,000 selection Wine Spectator “Best of Award of Excellence” winning Yono’s wine list.
dP and it's fine dining companionm Yono's are superlative examples of what a dining experience should be.
The food was incredible! I personally am not comfortable with the shared bench seating.. and the little tables were too close together for my comfort, I felt like I was sharing my date with strangers. However staff were great and the location was great, we just left a show at Capital Rep. Will absolutely come again.
Never fails to prove what makes DP the best in the area. From the menu to the service, top-notch.
Excell my in all respects! Great evening!
Super packed when we got there due to a concert at TU Center. Managed to score to seats at the bar while we waited for our table. The drinks were amazing! We got our table and the waiters were very knowledgeable.
Nice atmosphere. Great service by our waiter Josh. The food was well prepared and good portion without over doing it. They even wrote "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert plate without me asking....nice touch dp! My wife and I loved it. We will be back.
My husband and I had been here before with good result, but this time our server was less than adequate. It took almost 15 min to receive our ordered drinks. When I asked if I could substitute for mashed potatoes I received a vague reply which ended with "vegetable", but nothing forthcoming as to what these were. The appetizer was never received before our meal and when pointed out we received a weak "shall we bring it now?" (we declined). Our server was either inexperienced or just bad. I will say that I very much enjoyed my venison. It was cooked to perfection.
Delighted with the customer focus and knowledge of our server and the bartender/mixologist. Menu offered a good selection of flavors/influence, seasonality, portion sizes and price-points making it a good choice for just about anyone. The ambiance is nice lacks distinction. Still, we were very happy with our meal and experience!
One of the best meals we have ever had! Our waitress Katie made fantastic suggestions. We tried the Strawberry Rhubarb cocktail of the day - it was yummy.
Great service, good ambiance, very good food. Menu not very creative.
We love dp An American Brasserie. The location is convenient to The Rep. The food is always outstanding. And they accommodate seating requests. They also accommodate food issues because everything is made to order. We'll be back.
We love DP's. We had the steak salad and the seasonal soft shell crab. Both of us loved our meals. great service, atmosphere. It can get loud in the restaurant but it was a quiet start of long weekend night. We'll be back.
Nice lunch date with my wife. Great service from Alice. Nice lady and treated us great.
Took 35 minutes for a server to come even poor our water. The sliders were just o.k. Overall a decent meal.
We really enjoyed the dp American Brasserie. We were immediately welcomed and seated. Our waiter Josh was friendly and efficient, and had the sommelier come over to help select a wine with our meal. We liked our meals very much, they were flavorful and just the right size portions. Great drink menu also.
Excellent food and service as always. Bartenders know how to make real drinks.
This is listed in OpenTable as a French restaurant and it is not. This was my first time at the restaurant and it was a busy Saturday night for them.
The place was crowded and the noise level was high. I needed to raise my voice for the person across the table to hear me. I ordered my steak medium, and if what arrived was medium, then rare must be close to raw. Lovely windows out the front of the restaurant, but your view is a parking lot. Parking nearby is almost non-existent, and if an event is happening downtown, be prepared to spend $10 to park. A nice wine selection, but again, only a few French wines to choose from. It's attached to the Hampton Inn hotel and shares a common entrance to Yono's.
This is a lively restaurant with a relatively small seating area. It is not quiet, but that is not a problem. The menu is not large, but it is interesting and the food is delicious. Highly recommended!
Visiting this restaurant since its inception and watching it gradually become less and less of what it was. The food varies from interesting to bland and the prices stay higher than are warranted.
Excellent food and service in a casual setting. Very good wine list as well.
This restaurant is conveniently placed between the Palace Theater and Capital Repertory Theater and group of four generally enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The main problem was the nearly 100 % inadequacy of one of the "specials" for the evening, scallops with tagliatelle. The dish should have been called tagliatelle with a hint of scallops. There appeared to be two very small scallops that were quartered. This was a special night for the four of us and we had just enough time to get to the playhouse, else I would have refused the dish. Truly, as one who enjoys scallops, this dinner should have been an embarrassment to the chef and management. It was a robbery that I assented to in order to keep the peace.
Entree was mediocre. We waited forever for the food.
No bread with the meal.
Salad was horrible.
Never Going Back. Dined here on a Tuesday at 5:45 pm -- not really rushed time to dine. Here is the executive summary:
Waited 40 minutes.
Waiter has to be flagged down, says they are short a chef. Food comes 15 minutes later. Rice is cold, broccoli is cold - chicken is dry and warm. Flag down waiter again - takes food back. Comes back 15 minutes later with same pathetic broccoli, new rice, both cold and slightly warmer chicken. Have to again, flag down waiter, tell him it is cold again - he says meals will be comped. Still had to pay for two glasses of wine. This level of service, at a restaurant that is not busy, is unacceptable. There were only two other tables with small parties of diners when we arrived. To bring the food back a second time cold was unbelievable. Also, even if the food had been hot, the rice was plain white. Broccoli was partially yellow. Just not worth the money.. The waiter never came to the table without being summoned after taking our order and serving the wine. Hey if you are down a chef, tell people. Or hey, pay attention that a table you are waiting on does not have food after more than half an hour. Oh, and when I was leaving, I gave the hostess by coat check token and she gave me someone else's coat. This was so very disappointing because the last time I dined here it was wonderful. But this was soooo bad, I will not give it another try.
They accommodated our food preferences and provided us with an outstanding dining experience!
The only thing better is Yono’s.
Ambiance was nice, as were the cocktails and the food was prepared nicely. Unfortunately, despite warning our waiter that I have celiac, I was served a gluten containing grain with my entree that I didn’t realize until later on that night when I got so sick! I don’t know if I will go back because despite enjoying the restaurant experience, this is a fatal flaw to me! I wrote to the restaurant the next morning and I still haven’t heard back - an apology would be nice! It’s too bad because the location and site is very nice.
Very crowded evening as both local theaters had events. Servers handled it well, food was delicious as always. We had a minor glitch in one of our entrees was wrong, but we received new plates in a timely manner and with a complementary glass of wine to boot. Great customer service like that keeps us coming back. Great wine list too, I should add. Always love dp, especially before Cap Rep plays, but we will make it back there when the theater moves north.
Lively atmospohere...expecially after a Captial Rep show.
Food is interesting. Price on the high side for this type restaurant. Parking on the street is easiest. Service was good. Noise is on the loud side and the room was not completely filled.
Service was great. Food was average, a bit disappointing.
Excellent wine choices. The menu has a lot of variety and wonderful vegetarian dishes
Great service, food and drinks. Always. Great bartenders who can make you whatever interesting drink you want .
Food and service was excellent!
Really fantastic find!! So happy with food options and locally sourced ingredients! Service, Michael, was amazing! Very helpful and attentive! Already telling everyone about this hidden gem! Loved it!!
My friends and I ate here before seeing a concert at The Palace and we loved everything about it. The atmosphere is great, service was friendly and professional, and our food was delicious. One of my friends left her phone and, since they had my phone number from when I made our reservation, they called me less than 2 minutes after leaving the restaurant to let me know they had found her phone, which at that time we didn’t know was missing! An overall a great experience, and an easy walk to The Palace.
Food is always good and prepared well. Service is attentive and Yono is the best!
A full house on a busy night but we were treated like family. Very enjoyable time and excellent meal.
Our most favorite restaurant hands down. Steak salad was thoroughly enjoyed by my wife. I had special pasta with short rib meat. Omg. Should be s permanent addition to the menu.
This is one of our favorite spots. The food is always delicious, and the cocktails are top notch. One of the best wine selections in Albany. Dominick, Yono and Donna are gracious hosts!
Overall, our experience at dp American Brasserie was very enjoyable. The Singapore noodles were delicious, as was the pecan, pear & blur cheese salad. I was a little disappointed with the chicken dumplings, as they were not as delicate as I have had elsewhere. The service was excellent and the waitress was very attentive. She suggested two wonderful desserts: the donuts and the chocolate rendezvous. A nice dinner!
