The food was just ok. We ordered halibut and steak. Both were bland. The potatoes tasted instant. We would not go again

Great service and excellently prepared food. Both steak and lamb were juicy and cooked to order.

As always, Woodfire Grill meets our expectations! We dine many times per year there before the MN Wild games - I have recommended it to others & will continue to dine there.

We were headed to a Wild game. Wanted more than a sports bar, but no need for full on evening dining. Though the Woodfire would be a great date night, as the decor shows it is not a sports bar. Our server was wonderful, attentive without smothering. The food was delicious and hot when it reached the table.

We saw sports attendees, business dinners and a few happy hour gatherings. Really a nice discovery.

Mediocre food at best. We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer and they came out in about 5 minutes - food obviously is not made to order.

We started out with a great evening, but unfortunately a large and extremely noisy group came later. Half way through our dinner, a large group with a number of loud, young children arrived and it became difficult for the three of us to have a conversation. The manager was very good, offered to let us move but at that time we were almost finished with our meal. He then offered to give us each a free dessert and his very sincere apology for the noise level.

We do intend to go back again because the food is wonderful!

We chose the Downtowner Woodfire Grill for lunch with relatives we had not seen for a long time because we knew the food was good, but even more because the atmosphere was casual, quiet, and not pushy. We were able to talk and laugh and enjoy their wonderful food and had an overall wonderful time. The menu has good choices for all, and the great fireplace and aromas of great food make it a very appealing place.

crab cakes average. salad very good. Fries not very crispy, burger very good. Sunday evening, so not very busy.—maybe this is why ambience seemed only fair. and decor seems a little outdated

The Downtowner is my go-to place when friends or relatives come from out-of-town. The Sunday breakfast is especially great because there is a pianist that plays your favorite standards. The service is great as is the food. Love this restaurant!

We were looking forward to trying the Downtowner after many positive reviews. Unfortunately, it was not a place any of us will return to. Three of the six of us had halibut and salmon which were overcooked and very dry. The Basmati rice and mashed potatoes on the side were also very dry. The only good thing on the plates were the carrots but those are hardly worth the $30+ price tag. The other three in our group had pork chops and lamb with marginal results. The ambience here is nice but not as cozy as we thought it would be. The location is great and it's a good spot to go with a group; however, I would not return. There are plenty of other good spots with much better food. Disappointed!

Food at the Downtowner is consistently good. Our group had the sirloin, tenderloin, tenderloin kabob, and fish. Everything was cooked to perfection and had lots of flavor. Our server was very helpful in recommending drinks.

The Downtowner has a cozy atmosphere. The decor is very comfortable. Our service was great. We were were there to eat before heading to a MN Wild game. The food was delicious. I highly recommend their kabobs. They marinate the meat before cooking. Very tasty! Everyone in our party of four enjoyed their food and said they would return to this restaurant.

We hadn't been to the Downtowner in years. We forgot how much we used to love this restaurant! It will be on our regular rotation from now on. The calamari appetizer is a must. The beef kabobs are delicious as is the apple-pear crisp. Service was accommodating to our kids and friendly!

We have been to Downtowner many times and have always loved the ambiance and the food. This time, the food was pretty disappointing. If we had not been with friends that we don't know well, both my husband and I would have complained and sent food back. My husbands scallops (a special) were excellent, but served with cold vegetables and cold potatoes. My halibut (also a special) was overcooked and while my food was all warm, it was flavorless and dry. Too bad. Good service and a warm and cozy spot for dinner, but the food was a disappointment this time around.

Met with friends before a Wild game. Food was excellent! Wait staff was slow getting our order out.

We waited for our check and ended up late to the game. Still enjoy the restaurant 95% of the time.

This was not our usual experience and we'll continue to visit on a regular basis.

the food was very well cooked and all, but the rice to meat/veggie ratio for the kabob's was a bit too skewed toward the rice for the value and my liking. but again, the food was very good. the cheesecake for dessert was also delicious. waitstaff and maitre d were also very pleasant.

The fire-roasted skewers were amazing. The basmati rice was mouth watering. Overall, between the 6 in my group, everyone was sharing their entree with "oh my goodness, you have to try this!" We were very happy with our dinner.

My food ticket got lost en route to the kitchen, but that was quickly fixed and the host was nice enough to remove my order from the bill. We still got the food in time to make it (barely) to the concert down the street.

Excellent location for dinner before a show at the Ordway. I highly recommend the chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. It was one of the best I've ever had! I also recommend the pizza with apple on it. The chocolate lava cake topped off dinner perfectly.

This is a great spot for events at Xcel. The food is good and ambiance is much better than some other options in that immediate area. This has become our go-to restaurant when we are going to a concert or a sporting event!

Food was not as expected from the description on the menu. I had the buffalo shrimp dinner and it definitely wasn't a buffalo sauce. It was more of a peppery tomato sauce, which was good, but not buffalo. I think that the portion of rice should be halved, and double the amount of vegetables. Otherwise it was good.

I neglected to ask for my dressing "on the side." My beet salad was way way way over dressed - ruined the entire meal. The bread brought to the table prior to our meal leaves a lot to be desired.
We really appreciated the restaurant accommodating us when traffic delays caused us to arrive 45 minutes late for our reservation. We called them twice during our delay. We were able to be seated and served and were able to get to the Xcel Center in time for our event.
