Mushroom dip....OMG...the best!
Also had the swordfish which was extremely tasty.
All employees work together in running food, bussing tables, and is just run like a well oiled machine.

This was our first time at this restaurant and we were NOT disappointed. The first thing we noticed was the quiet.....we could hear each other talk. The food was delicious......we both had skewers.....very healthy. Our server was friendly and efficient and made great recommendations. The décor is very lovely. The onsite parking is a bonus.

Sat in a nice corner booth with a view of 7th Street and the fireplace. Our server was helpful and attentive. Food was amazing - A good bottle of wine, Buffalo Shrimp appetizer, beef tenderloin and an adult ice cream drink to finish it off.

Food was good. Service was really slow. My meat came purple rare when I ordered medium, manager made rude comment to me about meat temperature when I asked that it be fired a bit more, but he did it.

The chilren's menu was good and a great value. Adults, not so much. The dinner menu listed all items (or maybe most) accompanied by grilled veggies, a joke. The veggie quantity was hardly a garnish. The grilled meat skewers were OK, with a huge quantity of rice, or tasteless mashed potatoes upon request. The gluten free items were plainly marked, but there was only one GF appetizer. The server got several orders wrong, otherwise OK. I expected more flavorful food.

Nice fireplace helps the ambiance in the winter. NY strip steak was a little flavorless and over cooked, but still good overall. Swordfish kabob had great flavor, only downside was it was a little dry. Basmati rice was delicious.

Server was friendly and attentive. Didn't know the wine menu well but was helpful in brining out two bottles to read the labels.

My husband and I have been here for dinner and brunch several times. The food is great, service has always been friendly and timely and Dan greeting us when we arrive starts the experience off just right. We will continue to go back.

Always love the downtown. I wish all restaurants would stop using prepackaged lettuce. I know it's easier but am tired of picking black slime lettuce out of my salads.

Bummed...usually excellent food and service. 1/2 of our food was cold...got our food before the bottle of wine we ordered.

We were celebrating a friend’s birthday and everything was perfect, including the complimentary piece of cake. Our server, Amy, was extraordinary - attentive but not intrusive. And our food was incredibly delicious. The Downtowner is, by far, my favorite restaurant.

Celebrated my Mother's 92nd birthday. Lovely setting, great for all ages (we had from age 3 to 92 at our table) . Servers were very attentive and enthusiastic. Went last year too!

I thought the food was unremarkable. I was hoping for some really good kabobs, mediocre and they had squash soup on the menu... which was bland and cold. The server was so so, the only thing I thought it had going for it was the fireplace. Other than that... meh!

Our waiter Matt was very fun to work with. He was quite knowledgeable in the menu and the gluten-free options available. We were there just a little over 2 hours and we're never overlooked by any of the staff. Had a great time.

We have been to the Downtowner a number of times before Wild hockey games and other events. Usually the food is good and sometimes very good. This time, however, the food was poor and the service was worse. Our server was inattentive, slow and seem to be put out that we would request refills on soda and maybe a second drink. The steak in my salad was cold and half of the piece was fat. I was unable to cut it. When I finally flagged down our server and asked to send the steak back for being cold and fatty, he rather arrogantly informed me that medium rare was cold. I know my steak and a good medium rare is warm and grilled on the outside with the middle still pink but warm. If I want cold I ask for rare. Again, just the attitude was enough for me to cut his tip in half. All in all, we won't be back for quite some time.

I took my in-laws here for a Christmas present. They were visiting from RI. They have dined in some of the finest restaurants in Boston, New York, France, and St. Martin, as well as other places. They were impressed by the atmosphere ( we got a table in front of the fireplace), the service, and the food. We had a fabulous experience and I earned bonus points with the mother and father-in-law!

Enjoyed our dining experience immensely. Dined before a Wild game. We visited over a couple cocktails. They make a great Lemon Drop Martini!! There are many delicious options on the menu, however we both chose the daily specials. One was Scallops & the other was Sea Bass. They were served with mashed potatoes, carrots and tri-colored cauliflower. It was perfectly prepared and had fantastic flavor. Our waitress was very attentive & the host/manager stopped over to check on us a couple times also. Wonderful place that we will continue to visit.

Typically have enjoyed The Downtowner in the past. Not so much this time. Food took longer than it should have. When it arrived, the pasta was missing the chicken, and the potatoes and veg on my steak were cold. Replacement potatoes were even colder. Server was good, but apologized a lot for the kitchen issues.

Pan prepared bread crumb dusted Walleye was the best we have ever had. Chicken noodle soup was very fresh with lots of good vegetables and light not too salty broth. We ate here for lunch with a 50% customer occupancy so it was easy to converse. Great service with seasoned staff. Love the wood fire smell from the kitchen as well and the gas log fireplace in the middle of the main dining area. We will be back soon .
