Went for a Father's Day brunch and was unfortunately disappointed. First no where on their website did they say it would be a special Father's Day only menu. So no regular brunch menu. Since I don't eat red meat, my options were basically eggs or french toast. And nothing else. For $40. Not worth that for sure. Then we decided to just grab a couple drinks and a coffee. My father's coffee had coffee grounds all in it. Definitely not worthy of recieving the Foxtail name on the cup. Needless to say it was not a good experience. Server was friendly as she could be. Place is nice. Don't think I'll be returning. To many amazing brunch spots around Orlando
The staff was great and really accomodating. The food was incredibly lack-luster for the price. My steak came room temperature and was nothing special. The fries that came with it obviously came out of a frozen bag I could have bought at Publix. Nothing was bad, but for the price, I was very disappointed.
Bad experience, won’t be back. Don’t bother reaching out.
Our server was very social and spent way too much time at our table chatting, and as well all the other tables. Things took way too long. When they finally brought the dessert, they still had not cleared our dinner dishes. Great ambience, but very disappointed by the service.
Loved the food, drinks and service!!!
All of the restaurants associates deserve all of the accolades I can give them. The food was absolutely amazing, I know that it is impossible to keep the noise level down but that is the only thing We had to overcome, it was hard to have a quiet conversation due to the volume of the people at the table next to us and the conversation of the large group at the bar, maybe the next time we eat at the restaurant the weather will be more conducive to sitting outside and there will be less noise,
GRRREAT SERVICE. Lovely setting. Yummy food. A frog’s hair shy of fine-dining!
If I could give the food a zero, I would. Terribly disappointing experience. I'm sure 5 years ago this place was considered a great romantic date night spot but today it seems that nothing has been updated and the food quality taking the lowest priority.
Very unorganized, bad service, receptionist was useless and said it was her first day and that she couldn’t do anything and had to grab the manager. People were standing up to pay without receiving any service. Manager finally arrived, showed him my reservation for 2:30 and he told me that the kitchen closes at 2:30 and that they were behind and couldn’t take us and turned us away. Didn’t apologize or give a care. My mom drove 45 mins to have brunch with me at Dovecote and we were rudely turned away WITH a reservation. If the kitchen closed at 2:30, why allow people to book reservations for 2:30 for brunch?! Horrible experience. Other people I’ve spoken to have had similar service-issues with this place.
On the date we visited, they were busy with a baby shower and understaffed
Waited for an hour for food
Croque madame very heavy, pancakes thick and eggy
Rueben and herb omelet were great
Manager and owner were very apologetic
It was not the best time for us
Went there for Sunday brunch to celebrate...we had 16 in our party and was told they could accommodate. They stuck us outside and btw we were the ONLY table outside and from there we proceeded to have the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Had to ask for ice, water, more menus, silverware...you know the basics! They had 1 “seasoned” server and a server that was working her very FIRST day. We ordered mimosas however food started to come out and after waiting over a hour we canceled the drinks and appetizers. They bought out part of peoples orders vs all together. I got my side of eggs and after 20mins my pancakes and burned chicken wings. Some pancakes had nice fruit selection on top and others nothing. We went inside multiple times to speak to the owner and all he gave was excuses but said “he would fix it” . Finally after sitting outside for close to 2 hours (4 people in the group never received their food) with messed up ordered. We had to demand that the owner come out from hiding in the restaurant to speak to our party. He made excuses, was condescending, never apologized, then proceeded to tell us that the meals that some received was comped and “we could go” he never acknowledge their terrible service at all or listen to any feedback. Then his last insult was to ask us did “anyone work in the food industry” as if we were clueless on how service should be and as if we were over reacting. We cashed out that poor server with lots of tips and told him he should be ashamed for setting her up for failure. Ambience appeared nice but service, food, owner were TERRIBLE!
Horrible service! We arrived to the hotel on time for our reservation, but we stood at the host stand for 10 minutes without even being acknowledged by the staff. After finally being seated and ordering our drinks, we sat for another 30 minutes with just water on the table - the waitress came over to take our meal order, but she was not knowledgeable about the menu. After not receiving our drinks and not even getting a refill of the water we left to go to another restaurant.
Always been a favorite of ours as we live in the neighborhood; but, both of the most recent visits have been super disappointing. This and SoCo have been our goto places for ourselves and out of town guests. Very disappointing to lose this as an option.
If you can’t put water on the table nor serve the drinks within 45 minutes, why even seat folks???
Service was poor from the moment we walked in. Food was sub par, salmon sandwhich had an unpleasant odor and had to return it back. Smoked eggplant dip was plain, no smoke flavor at all. Cocktail shrimp tasted old and shrimp was stringy.
Fries were great.
Overall, decor and ambience were good but not worth coming back.
Nice ambiance, but the food was sub par and overpriced. The carbonated beverages had no carbonation and a bad cup of coffee costs over $3.50.
Loved the ambiance of the restaurant and our server was great. The food took very long to come out and it wasn’t correct.
It was an amazing place, tee went for brunch and it was super cute. The service was excellent. The mimosas are delicious as well as the coffee.
what happened to dovecote??? this restaurant was a fun, easygoing atmosphere with food that far out kicked its ambiance. it is a shell of its former self. from being out of its bread appetizer (you ran out of BREAD?!), to being out of almost every wine on their list, to wildly mistiming drinks and dishes, this has become one of the most mismanaged restaurants on all of orlando. my wife’s dish was inedible. so much fat on the pork. she never touched her second glass of wine because 1) it was that third attempt to find something they actually had in stock, and 2) it was brought late in the meal and by the time she was thoroughly grossed out by her dish. yet there was no offer to compensate for the shortcoming. dovecote was a treasure in orlando. it’s now one of the worst in town. DO NOT waste your time or money.
Cute restaurant in downtown, great place if your looking for a multi course meal and conversation because it’s a very quiet ambiance.
DoveCote is a beautiful restaurant with perhaps the nicest interior decorations in Orlando.
I guess we came to the restaurant at a bad time, right around 5:30 for what we hoped was a special graduation dinner. We came here because we needed to be downtown and outdoors due to Covid, but the service was lacking and the menu was unimaginative for vegetarians.
Prior to this visit, LOVED this place and uncertain as to whether or not we will return. Took 90 min from time of order to food being delivered to table. Place was packed with people, especially large parties. Server even told us that he would have “hopped back in the kitchen to help out if he could”. Very unlike our previous enjoyable experiences
Our waiter was very friendly and efficient; checked on us often without being in our face. The kitchen has serious issues. We were there for over 2 hours.
Great Sunday brunch place. The biscuits are delicious!
the food was fantastic, great service. the online gift card purchasing process was a bit cumbersome as the restaurant could not easily match what they were seeing on their side with the online transaction.
No one was waiting but the hostess looked at us and kept doing something else one of the servers ended up coming and asking if we were waiting and told the hostess to get out name and he didn’t even look up he just typed it in and sat us. Once seated they said we will get water and noticed we didn’t get any for 15 minutes but the new people they sat behind us got there’s right away. Server barely came back to check on us but would check constantly on the people behind us. Place felt very off overall.
The restaurant is very elegant and food was very tasty.
We were visiting from Texas, and have never been to this establishment before.
We ordered the ham and cheese beignets as an appetizer, and they were horrible.
Not at all what I was expecting, and honestly they were gross.
My husband, and I both could not eat them.
My expectations were low after that.
HOWEVER. The lemon thyme chicken was delicious, and the brussel sprouts with the honey hot sauce were phenomenal.
The best part of the meal- by far was the Oreo Surprise.
It was the best dessert I think I have ever had.
It was so good I wanted another one to go, but they had none left.
That was disappointing! But only because I wanted another one.
*Just another note for whoever sees it- we did hear the people in the kitchen scolding a waiter, and complaining about a guest putting in an order at 9:45 when they close at 10.
It’s not a huge deal, but it was a little bit of a turn off for sure.
Arrived 7:00 with reservations. Drink and food orders placed relatively promptly after a delay for seating.
Appetizers arrived 8:00 (way too slow).
Dinner arrived 8:30 (too slow for 7:00 reservations).
Mussels were very good. Salmon entree (x2) was excellent. Steak entree not good at all and guest hardly ate any. Brussel sprouts superb. Creme brûlée average. Carrot cake (x2) interesting and excellent.
No one asked any of our party about our food, even with a plate of steak hardly eaten.
Server was young and not very skillful or attentive. Nice kid but we hardly saw him. When I ordered a second bottle of wine, he opened it and then put the full bottle into the wine chiller without offering or pouring any.
We live downtown and would like to have a nice restaurant to visit regularly, but overall I thought the dining experience was a mixed bag for the five of us, especially given the prices.
Hostess personable and charming.
Would not recommend the experience unqualifiably. Have had much better experiences at lunch over the years.
No masks, full regular buffet on Mothers Day, Servers didnt know how to take our orders or explain the menu
For Mother’s Day, I asked my husband to take my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and I to a place where it’s in downtown Orlando and had brunch. When we arrived at DoveCote I was impressed by the esthetics and parking lot. Beautiful building and courtyard, however upon arrival no employees wore masks and neither did the manager or owner (not sure what position but seemed to be the go to person). When seated the floor had food all over. Our sever was very attentive and nice but seemed very lost or just new to the place. When we asked for the menu, they were only offering a fixed menu brunch at $70 a person! We knew it was an expensive place so we continued to dine. The buffet was self serve and a lot of the food looked like it was sitting there for a while. I am vegan so I didn’t get to much since the fixed brunch had no options. I had to ask the waitress for fruit and it was like well we’ll see if we have any. I was like seriously you don’t even have to cook it. After my husband and his family went once to the buffet, when they went to get more food,’they had already cleaned it up. I did not want to cause a scene and I did not want to make the waitress uncomfortable because it was not her fault. Needless to say we paid a bill of over $200 and still left hungry. As a restaurant co-owner myself, I hate writing negative reviews but today was my first Mother’s Day and it was a horrible experience.
I made reservations for mother’s day at 1:30 pm. After waiting for over an hour past our reservation at the bar. We finally got seated and the waiter let us know then that it was buffet only. Because it was “Mother’s Day Brunch” they were not serving anything from the regular menu. Obviously my family and I didn’t felt comfortable eating buffet food in the middle of a PANDEMIC.
Upon leaving I asked the hostess to get my parking ticket validated and also mentioned to her that “it would’ve been helpful to let people know that it’s buffet only”. She rolled here eyes and rudely answered “It was on the menu”. I told her that “We didn’t received the menu until we were seated so it would’ve been helpful of her to just let people know, that’s it”. She responded with an even more rude attitude “I’m just the hostess”. Worst costumer service from a hostess I have ever experienced.
The bar tenders were very nice and attentive and the ambiance was nice.
The hostess was rude, dismissive and not helpful at all.
Dined here for Mother’s Day and was met with stellar customer service from start to finish. Really felt like the staff was engaged in the customer’s overall experience.
When we were seated, we found out that they were actually offering a buffet only. While I understand from an operation/execution standpoint the ease of this decision, It was still a bit disappointing because the buffet only offering wasn’t communicated to us even though I had made a reservation over a month ago. Candidly if I’d known it was going to be a buffet I would have made a reservation elsewhere. In my opinion buffets are almost impossible to execute at the same level as made to order options.
That said, the Buffett was lovely and very premium including unlimited FL lobster tails, crab cakes and leg of lamb.
Dovecote is a great restaurant and we will continue to go back.
We went for the Mother’s Day special buffet and it was amazing! The food was perfectly cooked. It was very well curated and delightful! The staff was wonderful and on a busy day they were all working together and very efficient. We will be back!
Everything was wonderful. My only constructive criticism was the attire of the female servers did not leave much to the imagination and some looked very uncomfortable in what they were wearing. Being that we have been to this restaurant many times, this was a surprise, especially for Mother's Day. Other than that food was amazing!
DoveCote could be a top tier restaurant if they worked to fix persistent issues. This is the third time we visited and the issues continue. The food is good. The service adequate. The bar service should be better. The organization in the kitchen is poor. At 6:30 pm on a Saturday they were already out of burgers. We were told initially that some deserts were already sold out only to be corrected later - and told what we had been recommended as being available was now sold out. The food came out late - one guest got his food a full 20 minutes after everyone else. The hostess also seemed in over her head- seating us as a reserved party of 9 at a table for 7 and consistently forgetting to wear her mask. Things like that stop DoveCote from being all it could be. The venue is beautiful so I would recommend it but honestly only for a small party and for dinner on a weekday night.
It was a nice experience.
It was lovely. Server was a little slow with refills and the air handler over the kitchen was broken, so it was a little smoky, but the staff did warn us ahead of time. The food was delicious, though, and we got to sit in a nice little alcove and look out on the beautiful courtyard.
We went in for our anniversary and we’re going to see a show after. Our server seemed like he was the only one working. We had a multitude of issues- my husband’s drink had a fly in it, my French onion soup was absolutely disgusting (probably the worst I’ve ever had), our food took FOREVER and when it arrived it was cold. Since everything took so long we had to box it up and leave because we were going to miss our concert. I was beyond disappointed because I heard so many good things about this place. Our anniversary was never acknowledged and we will never ever step foot in that place again. Terrible dining experience. I wish I had my $100 back.
What a delightful culinary experience. The cocktails were a special treat by an expert bar tender. The lunch was tender and fresh. Full of flavor.
The food was delicious. But I was disappointed as I had booked an outdoor table. When I arrived they said they were holding an event and no outdoor seating was available. I chose the restaurant because I only want to do outdoor dining. But since I was dining with another person I chose to stay. It would be appreciated if there was transparency.
