Restaurant is beautiful. Our party of 3 were the only customers, but assumed it was from fear of Coronavirus. Waitress laid menu on our silverware (a pet peeve), but especially noticeable with the virus scare. One cocktail was warm. The burger, which was ordered medium rare, was almost well done & crusted. The thyme chicken had blood spots in it. The waitress took it to the manager who picked it up with his fingers to examine it. He then brought it back to our table to tell us it was cooked properly. We paid for it & brought it home for the dog. On a positive note, the croque madame was delicious.
The steak and frites was delicious. We sat on the patio, which is lovely, though a bit windy that night. Excellent wine options.
Service and ambiance were excellent. The meal we had was just ok. We tried the bone marrow but it wasn’t great. The brussel sprouts were cooked well but it had too much hot sauce. The tempura mushrooms were huge but not very flavorful. However the beets and goat cheese were delicious. Oysters rockerfeller were tasty as well. Server was excellent. Great for a date night!
Our server, Parker, was excellent! The food was good. The mussels were delicious and the Old-Fashion was very good.
It was my first time going to DoveCote. I went for brunch on Sunday and was expecting free garage parking. The parking situation was confusing because the alley had a sign that said "closed to thru traffic" and the garage door facing Livingston was closed. I ended up parking offsite. Once I entered the restaurant, I found it was designed beautifully. I was meeting a friend and I had made a reservation. We were seated in a timely manner. However, there was a misunderstanding as to who our server was and we waited a long time and had to ask about being served. Our server was friendly and prompt after the initial delay. Both meals were very delicious but I did think it was a bit overpriced.
Out of multiple bottles of wine and service is outdated and unorganized
Service was great, food was delicious. We will definitely be back!
I thought all of the food was very average. Most items were overly salted, especially the French onion soup. The mussels entree was not cooked well nor was the soufflé.
I would not go back.
The onion soup is amazingly good, and very hearty. I was full after eating it and still had an entree coming. Salmon was cooked well and very tasty. Service was good, and love that there is a Foxtail as part of their restaurant- you can order various coffees and teas.
Great selection of cheese for cheese plate. Menu could have more vegetarian selections besides a salad. I opted for the croque madame sandwich and picked off the ham. Heavy dish but very good. Hopping bar area. Small restaurant.
Dovecote is causal, rustic French. The food is fresh and comforting, the service is knowledge and kind. You won't regret an evening at Dovecote.
Not impressed. The steak frites which is supposed to be a house specialty was horrible. Parts were extremely salty and parts were actually cold! Two other persons at my table were served cold entrees. I will not be back.
The food and service is always good. The restaurant changed the kale salad and I just like the former one much better.
I felt rushed by the server. We were still eating our apps when the entrees hit the table. Apps were really good the highlight of the dinner. The mussels both styles were bland. The hanger steak should not be precut. Overall the server was cool he just needs to work on his timing and reading his guest.
We went for a "Day after Valentine's Day dinner." It was absolutely delicious. The small twists to traditional dishes kept you on your toes and made you feel as though you were on a bit of an adventure.
The setting is beautiful. Upscale without being stuffy or too full of itself.
Friendly vibe and you can tell from the decor, that, while fun, they take everything seriously.
It was a pleasure. We'll be back for sure!
They offer approximately 12 beers on the menu, 6 on tap and 6 bottles/can. They had a problem with their taps so only 2 draft were available and no cans or bottles available. While the waitress was apologetic you would think in a upper class restaurant they portray themselves as that the manager would have come by with an apology. Was not looking for anything free but just an acknowledgement for the inconvenience. They just seem that they don’t care about the customer experience and you are just another table turn to them. Won’t be returning
Food was okay. There was a very limited menu. We got greeted 15 minutes after being seated. Our reservation were for 9:30. We finally sat down by 10. We ordered our food and then they told me that what i had wanted wasn’t on the menu and she gave me an alternative option of steak with friend and once my date heard that, he wanted it as well. Once we got our meal, it wasn’t steak and friend which i was excited to eat. And so was my fiancé. Overall the service wasn’t worth the price. I was very disappointed.
We visited valentines day so there was a set menu, food was very good temp could have been better bot great evening.
Great food as always
Very disappointing Valentines Day meal. Made reservation 2 months before and was called the day before to be told Price Fix dinner for $60 pp. Service was slow & appetizers and main course came out cold. Mussels grossly overcooked - basically exploded into nothingness. Salmon cold and overcooked as well. Numerous 20 year old waiters walking around trying to figure out which table to deliver food to. Drinks & music good but won’t go back.
The food was not the best, and over priced - maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed. We got the mussels and frites. The frites were great the the mussels were overcooked, chewy and not really the best quality. The service, however was great and the waiter was very attentive.
We may try this restaurant again, maybe on an off night. But, at this time I could not recommend this restaurant.
Love the food hated the service. Had a waiter in training who was useless.
I really wish I remembered our servers name to leave her a review but she had dark brown or black short hair and was wonderful!!!
As soon as I arrived I placed an order for a grand mariner soufflé. for some reason order was not placed in on time. My group was in a hurry so we paid and left disappointed
Server was extremely accommodating, but coffee tasted bitter and was cold as was the food.
We started our meal with ham and cheese beignets. They were excellent but different from what we expected. Our entres were steak frittes, chicken with sausage, and short rib with mushroom. All were excellently prepared. Our waiter George was friendly and attentive. We finished with the chocolate mouse and cappuccino. Both were outstanding. This place seems business casual.
We decided to try Dovecote despite a couple of fairly average evenings when it first opened.
Sadly this was again a very poor evening littered with issues. Maître D’ walked away as we entered. Cocktails both incorrect and then slow to be corrected. Main course arrived long before we’d finished the starters. Beignets over-salted given the ham and cheese filling.
Steak Frites messily presented and excessively over-salted. We sent it back. The short ribs served off the bone but no mention of this on the menu. Server pleasant and willing but overall service was patchy and slow. The wine arrived as we finished our main course. Good were the chicken liver pâte and a well-torched crème brûlée. Wine selection was fairly good.
Despite the usual comp of the rejected meal and cocktail we will not be going back.
Fantastic French restaurant in a sea of terrible chain restaurants. I was so happy to find this place! My French colleagues also enjoyed it - so that’s saying something! I will definitely be back next time I’m in Orlando. Yummy!
Not as good as it use to be, over priced, poor service. The when we sat down the water told us we could not lounge because they needed the table even though I had a reservation. The place was empty at 6:15 but it took them almost 15 minute to prep our table.
First time going and just happen to fall upon it on Mapquest. Delicious food, amazing ambiance, and great drinks! Definitely will be going back!
Great Girls Brunch spot!!!
Good great, service was worst ever. Not going back
DoveCote is listed on Opentable as American cuisine. It is NOT it is French. Still wonderful but the listing is not accurate.
Everything Perfect & Beautiful
Went before a DPAC matinee show, wonderful brunch
Food was excellent, prepared as ordered. Great sides with unique preperation.
We were very much looking forward to this meal as it had been recommended online. Unfortunately one of the main meals was really cold, which implied it had been left somewhere for a while. They replaced it with a heated version, but still charged for the meal. They did deduct 5 dollars, which was a slight insult. Overall, it was very underwhelming, even the food which was cooked thoroughly. The server did do a good job otherwise though!
Fantastic experience, fantastic food, and fantastic ambiance.
Gavin was great! This restaurant was a little on the pricey side but it met my expectations after enjoying the food and drinks.
We visited DoveCote to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. The restaurant sent over complimentary champagne right away, which was a nice touch. Our server, Gavin was great with lots of information, recommendations and humor. We like to share when we go out, so we ordered the bread with truffle butter and garlic as well as the pork terrine as an appetizer. Both were good, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the terrine - just a taste thing honestly. Next we shared the Lyonnaise salad. Which I highly recommend! For dinner we shared the French Mussels and frites - sooooo good. 2lbs of mussels with a spicy sausage, garlic and tomato broth. The frites surprised us both with an almost smoked flavor. We couldn’t get enough. For dessert we split the Grand Mariner soufflé which was so fresh I burned my mouth. I must confess that their wasn’t much Grand Mariner flavor, but overall the taste was great. I think I would go with the chocolate one next time. Great place!
