Terrible kale salad with old pulled chicken and soggy kale, with tiny portions of toppings, dressing and chicken.
Disappointing based on our high expectations, owing to lack of execution on food and outsize prices for bistro food. The concept is cool and it was crowded, however.
Food and atmosphere was perfect. I would recommend DoveCote to friends and colleagues.
Attentive waiter & delicious entrees. Great atmosphere, quiet, stylish & cool vibe.
The menu didn’t have enough variety. Most of the items were for a more “advanced” pallet and it didn’t have enough simpler options for breakfast/ brunch
Server had no idea about menu items and gave wrong info on how food was prepared. Side dishes arrived after main course was almost finished. First 3 wines we ordered were out of stock on an very small wine list.
While everyone was very friendly and pleasant, they needed much better training.
Most food items were excellent, however a few items, like gnocchi and potato pancake, were way too salty. And, we like salty food.
Great service ni
I chose Covedote to celebrate my 15th wedding anniversary. I sent a note when making my reservation and when we got there, the staff was courteous and friendly. The food was delicious! And the place is beautiful. It was a pleasant night!
DoveCote was wonderful! Food, service and ambiance all excellent. All 4 meals were amazing. Can’t wait to dine there again.
Surprisingly large portions. Must try the bread and olive butter!
Good experience. The last twice we have been here we’ve ordered the soufflé. Both times they have had to remake it.adding 15 to 20 minutes to the dining experience. Not good.
Soufflés were great. But get it right the first time. Made for a very sour end to an otherwise good experience
We hosted my son's birthday brunch and had a positively wonderful time. The brunch food selections were unique, and wonderfully flavorful. We each ordered different items, and shared. Each was excellent. Could not ask for more! Will be back. This is now our 'go to' brunch hangout.
Best spot in downtown Orlando. For the preparation and presentation of the food, well-trained waitstaff and stylish décor, nothing comes close. Had the braised short ribs which I had not had for 2 years since first visiting. As good as today as then. Wife always enjoys the salmon and one of our guests raved about the new item on the menu, the mahi-mahi. One quibble - seems the prices of certain wines have increased a good 10% recently.
Food was good but service was slow and sporadic.
The food is delicious and affordable. The decor is lovely and the service was great.
My only complaint is that our table was a bit too close to the neighboring table. It is difficult to have your own conversation without feeling like you are all part of the same lunch together. I use lunches at DoveCote for business purposes and conversations are sometimes delicate.
I was very disappointed in my first visit to DoveCote. You can dress up a place nicely and have a great menu, but when you set an expectation of service based on pricing and ambiance - and then do not deliver the service - one is left with a poor impression. During my dinner, my server was switched out before I ordered food ( meanwhile we were waiting and extended time to order ) and a server assistant finally came by saying that our server “got busy” and that she would take our order. After our entrees were dropped, we were halfway through the meal before any one stopped to ask how everything was going. Additionally, we had to ask for water when our bottle left at the table ran out. On top of that, a number of people overlooked the fact that an entree dish had a clear chip in it. Strangely enough, upon receiving the check, we had not received any compensation for this chipped plate. I couldn’t believe how many steps of service were missed. I can’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a full experience. I had more attentive service at a chain restaurant at a 1/4 of the price the day after.
It was a great place for brunch. Since they don’t have unlimited Mimosas etc. it was a lot more chill than some brunch places can be.
Really nice belated v-day experience. Food very good, service slightly disjointed but good overall. Will be back.
My husband and I were very excited to try Dovecote for the first time, and had made reservations several weeks in advance. The restaurant was beautiful, and we were looking forward to being seated in the lovely dining room...unfortunately we were led through the dining room and out to the main lobby of the building, where we were sat next to a couple of stacks of extra chairs, and across from what looked to be a couple of kitchen guys on break. We were the only customers there for quite some time. The wine, food and service was excellent, but to say our table was a disappointment is an understatement, especially since we had the foresight to make reservations to ensure there was adequate seating for us.
Went for dinner. They are sooo busy that even though we had a reservation we ended up sitting at the bar to eat so we wouldn’t be late for the concert. The stuffed squid and bone marrow were amazing. Short rib was delicious but tasted more like corned beef than pot roast... grilled Caesar was good but could have been a little more charred and topping was a little salty. Dovecote is one of our favorites. It never disappoints!
The food was made with care and had unique flavors that I have not tasted anywhere else. I would highly recommend the braised short rib.
The worst dining experience we have ever had. I have never walked out of restaurant prior to receiving my entree. Service was painful and the timing of the food was completely off. Waited a long time for appetizers, entree came out before finished w appetizer and then we sat there for over twenty five minutes waiting for our appetizers to be cleared so that we could eat our entree. We sat at our table at 7.30 and left at 8.45 without receiving the entree. Incredibly disappointing as we have dined here dozens of times in the past and never had an experience like this.
A nice change of pace, I thought originally this was a French cuisine restaurant, but was nice to find out that this brassiere was homage to the cuisine, loved the mussels with fries because It’s unique cream sauce compare to the traditional French broth or tomato sauce. Would highly recommend this place!
Our cocktails at the bar with Jon, the bartender, were exceptional though a bit pricey.
Service outside of the bar was horrid. It took 15 minutes to transfer a bottle of wine to our table and by that time we still had no water and hadn’t seen our server.
Love the food and place we went for Valentine’s Day ,
Wonderful food, and the server timed the meal perfectly!
The service was outstanding. The mussels and oysters were fantastic in terms of quality and flavor.
Great for lunch
I was recommended this restaurant because I was told it is similar to Orsay in Jacksonville, which it is not. I went for lunch on Valentines Day and they were understaffed. They had two waitresses for the entire place. I was recommended the fish and chips, but do not recommend eating that dish. It was very bland and offered nothing. My husband had the burger and it was cooked properly and had a good amount of flavor. I expected the service and quality of food to be at a higher level. If you are looking for an average lunch place it wont disappoint, but if you are looking for a chef inspired menu with great service I would recommend somewhere else. We also ordered dessert and coffee which we were told the tickets were not seen until 20 minutes after the order was put in. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay for them to make the food and coffee due to the wait. I understand mistakes happen, so this was no the main reason for the review, but it didn't help with the overall experience.
A M A Z I N G food. Beautiful restaurant and prompt waitress'/waiters.
Had reservation at 6:45 pm, was seated at 7:20 pm. Tried ordering a drink and entree and both were unavailable.
This is a hidden gem and everything was scrumptious. It reminded me of a NYC French restaurant. We had the salmon, squash soup and and brussels sprouts. I would highly recommend it. Oh even better they have Valet.
We (myself and two friends) from Bonita Springs, Fl, had the pleasure of dining here before going to hear Andrea Bocelli. It's a beautiful place with a hip vibe. Although we had reservations, we decided to sit at the bar since it was early and they don't serve dinner until 6, I believe. We ended up ordering fantastic sliders off the bar Happy Hour Menu and a then the tasty Brussel Sprouts from the dinner menu. The Bartender was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The drinks were great. I had read favorable things about this place and we were not disappointed.
Absolutely exceptional brasserie --right in the heart of Orlando. Convenient, excellent food, fun ambience, and great service. No more to ask.
So I have eaten here too many times to count but recently some things up. Several weeks ago I came with a business associate we were seated 30 minutes late. It too for ever for our presets to be taken. Our appetizers came out after a long wait and then the entries came out three minutes after the appetizers we didn’t even have time to taste the appetizers. The waiter didn’t even apologize. The timing was way off.
Came here on Monday the second
Table was not ready at reserved time.
Desert souffle was more like breakfast.
Everything else was good.
Getting seated was a hassle for some reason, we had 3 people trying to seat us and it still was chaotic and took way longer than it should have. Our server was snooty, and we just got a strange vibe from him, like sort of condescending. The appetizers did not come out together, so one person in our party didn’t get his until 10 minutes later. The wine we ordered was not available, so had to pay more than we wanted for a different wine. The salmon was excellent, but the accompanying items served with it were not accurate on the menu, so I didn’t get what I wanted. The prime rib was the special of the day and it was overpriced, and we weren’t told the price when we ordered it. That should have been disclosed. The fries that came with it were way too salty. We won’t be back.
Yummy! A great pre- theatre meal. Mussels were delicious; flank steak luscious.
Met the chef, Clayton Miller. Very informative about the history of t
