The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. I had the roasted pulled chicken sandwich. The flavor was good but I found a large piece of chicken fat which I did not swallow. I will visit again and order a different dish. I would like to sit at the bar and eat seafood and oysters. The service was very good. We had a very attentive server.
It was a great brunch experience. Amazing coffee, cocktails and food!
Food was mediocre. Loved bartender and service
Ambiance always delightful, food always delicious and service attentive but not intrusive.
very disappointed in food, nice menu selection but very heavy on the salt. The restaurant is open and bright, very modern, nice location. The price was high for the quality of food you received. Was not impressed with the service, no one came to our table to inquire about the food, etc.
Creative menu, an intimate setting with great service - my group loved the evening and the food choices along with personable, courteous staff and a European ambiance.
Out of this world from the cocktails, through the appetizers, to dinners. Our party of four ordered a variety of dinners from the menu to share. No losers in the whole bunch. Highly recommend it. Michael and Trace were excellent waiters.
Food is indulgent so come with an appetite. Tried multiple items and they were all scrumptious. Will be back!
Enjoyed brunch here n Fathers Day 2019. Good good, easy parking, attractive setting, generous portions. Would definitely come back again.
Went to brunch before attending an event at the Dr. Phillips Center - less than a mile away. Service was great, food was excellent and we will definitely do it again.
Everything about this meal was absolutely delicious and the service was top notch. My one constructive criticism would be that all the food could be consistently hotter temperature wise. It was all Luke warm even though it tasted good.
Definite culinary hits and misses at this “French-inspired” “brassiere”. My co-diners started with the ham beignets, eggplant dip and French onion soup. The beignets were excellent, the bread with the eggplant dip was too hard. The French onion soup had big pieces of shredded beef in it? The person who ordered the soup doesn’t eat beef, and beef as an ingredient was not stated on the menu. It was also excessively salty and thick. For entrees, we ordered the lemon chicken, which was excellent...tender and perfectly seasoned. The short rib was also ordered, and it was odd. The short ribs I’ve always had are tender meat falling off a bone. This “version?” was squares of meat that were definitively not tender. The menu stated it came with lyonnaise potatoes, but that was not what arrived. Also, this dish was heavy handed in the salt flavor note. Our waiter was attentive and professional and not overbearing or theatrical. We also had dessert. Creme brûlée that was pretty standard, but we weren’t mad at it. The chocolate mousse was too thick and had an unusual aftertaste. We might try this place again, but probably for Brunch. I’d call this place faux French, but it’s cute and passable.
We celebrated my sisters birthday and it was fabulous. The atmosphere and service were outstanding. The food was delicious. It was a great first experience at this restaurant. Also the chocolate souffle is a definite must have.
Good service, excellent food. Best French onion soup in my life.
Service was a little slow, server never asked how everything was and 3 out of 4 dishes were too salty.
I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and she so enjoyed it. The food was impeccable. It was my first time trying oysters and I have to say it was actually good. We ordered the lemon thyme chicken and the flavor was out of this world! The drinks are so flavorful and taste so good. I have 0 complaints about DoveCoat. Thanks so much for the great service!
Our server started off a little rough, we were probably getting annoying, i mean he had to deal with 12 people. However towards the end he got much better. Food was not as great as i expected it to be, however its a beautiful restaurant. Has a nice scenery for pictures. And who doesn't love bottomless mimosas!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a lovely brunch! Our waitperson was very nice and efficient. I had a white Parisian & my husband had a Bloody Mary. I ordered the pork terrine which had a nice flavor but I let it sit for awhile as too cold Pork has a hard greasy texture. The pickled cauliflower was a nice addition. My husband has a chicken sandwich which was a very meaty breast, nicely breaded, served on a brioche bun. He liked the sandwich which came with house chips. I had a Croque Madame, which was the main reason for coming to Brunch here. It was a very large well-soaked ham and cheese grilled topped with the traditional egg. Yum! Side salad of lightly dressed escarole was a pretty accompaniment. My friend has an eclair and the Ham & Cheese beignets. She ate every bit of the huge eclair but found the beignets too salty probably because of the salt cured ham. I liked them but agree they were a little salty. Lovely restaurant. We’ve had dinner here in the past and I would return for another classy Brunch.
Went for my daughter’s graduation lunch. One of the better restaurants in town for a celebration meal.
Everyone was pleased with food for most part. Service was good and the setting is lovely.
They validate parking too.
Was hosting a real good friend and his new partner, from out of town. They wanted to go eat brunch and asked me to pick a good place. I've never even heard of Dove Cote but it was one of the first places that popped up in my search. So I took the chance and made reservation. Boy, completely glad I did.
Prior to arriving I told my friend and his partner, that if the food or the place overall, was bad, not to hold me responsible since I've never eaten here. This place is simply AWESOME!! The service, the ambiance, and especially, the food. My fried and his partner did nothing but rave about the place. From the pate with toasted baguette slices to the bottomless mimosa for $18 (They were schocked with this price since they live in Miami). I wish I could remember the name of our server (I'm horrible with names). He was was great and very attentive! I HIGHLY recommend this place and will definately be going there again.
The Bone Marrow and Smoky Eggplant Dip here are amazing!!! We had a new server, so she messed up our order at first, but someone else took over and took good care of us.
Trace, our server was the perfect compliment to a great celebration lunch with family and friends. I’ve been to Dove Cote for brunch, dinner, and now, lunch experiencing great service, food and ambience in each visit.
We had a reservation for 6:30. Arrived approx 6:20 and went inside, leaving our car parked at valet stand. Host seemed unsure where to seat us. The restaurant was almost empty except for the bar! Our server was pleasant. She took an order for an appetizer and glasses of wine. We told her we wanted the chocolate soufflé for dessert assuming she knew how to time the order. The appetizer arrived and she wanted the entree order. Again, we incorrectly assumed she knew how to time the order. We had barely finished the app but not the wine when our entrees arrived! The restaurant still had only a few tables filled. The steak frites my husband ordered was good but not as good as The Ravenous Pig version he’s enjoyed many times. My salmon dish was good. The melange of veggies underneath was the star of the dish. We both ordered wines by the glass that were served at a nice temperature and very nice. The wait person had only a slight knowledge of the wine list and less knowledge of pairing. We were surprised at the rushed service. The soufflé came out as we were eating or last bites of entree! Delicious!!! Our server brought the check before she had asked if we cared for coffee. We ordered two espressos. They were delicious! We didn’t know the birthday dessert was complimentary until my husband looked at the check. The entire rushed experience left us moving DoveCote down the list. Too many other great restaurants in downtown and WP to come back. We were also surprised at the lack of seasonal menu items using the abundance of Central Florida produce and protein available. Where was a traditional coq au van or a traditional veal or lamb stew on this “bistro” menu??
Everyone was pleased with their meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the lemon thyme roasted chicken. It was superb!
Everything was absolutely fantastic--as a result--we're regulars at DoveCote--becuause it's "the best in town."
I was so disappointed with our experience. Though I had a reservation, the host treated us like last-minute walk ins and took forever to seat us in the add-on lobby area. It was loud and felt unconnected. Service was lousy, as our server seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else. I mentioned it was my birthday, and he asked if I wanted to order and alcoholic beverage. Very off putting. Food took forever and wasn’t that great. They tried to twist traditional foods, unsuccessfully. Would not recommend this place to anyone, ever.
Beautiful restaurant and very nice brunch before a show at Dr. Phillips. Would definitely recommend it
Great food and loved the cocktails. Will absolutely be back! Thank you team!
Disappointing experience, not up to previous visits. Food was too salty. When mentioned to server she added that others had complained earlier. Apparently that had not produced any change. One of our party took two bites of her side dish and abandoned it due to salt.
Had champagne with appetizer and ordered still wine for next course. Server brought wine and asked whether I wanted another glass. We looked in amazement - you have to ask? Not a sign of sophisticated service.
I went to DoveCote with my family to celebrate Mother’s Day. I absolutely loved the restaurant itself, but the service was abysmal. We had a 1:30 reservation and were not seated until after 2:15. We received no apologies or offers to make up for the lengthy wait, which was a bummer, especially considering I took away from our day to celebrate our mom. We saw multiple parties with reservations after ours get seated and it almost seemed as though the staff was avoiding us because they knew they didn’t have a seat for us. They would not give us updates or really acknowledge us. They attempted to seat us once a little after 2, but were missing a seat (and an entire place) for one member of our party so we had to go back to the hostess stand. Again, no apology.
Once we were finally seated with a place for everyone, everything was great! The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great and our server was attentive. I am hoping this was a fluke and plan to return at least once more.
Maybe it was due to Mothers Day however the service was well below standard for a restaurant like this. The buffet was the only choice at $46 a head and had little to choose from later in the day. I ordered bottomless mimosas but only had 3 due to the poor service
Nice ambiance, small buffet menu for holiday but well done. Specialty Drinks were great. Desserts awesome. Parking in garage and validation was a breeze with good signage. Will return to check out regular brunch menu.
We made a reservation for 6 at Mother's Day Brunch but were not informed that the only offering was a buffet menu at a fixed and somewhat high price. One reason we choose Dovecote was the regular menu offerings. Several people in our party are on special diets and had to settle for some salad and vegetables. No accommodations were provided. The service was barely adequate at best. Also the automatic 20% tip add on was not appreciated.
We will think twice before returning.
The space is gorgeous and the food was great. We went for Mother's Day which featured a buffet and the regular menu was not available. If I had known this, I would've avoided because I absolutely do not eat enough to justify a $46/pp buffet, which was mostly breakfast food. All of the food was great though, minus the roast chicken that was a little pink and the DC ham that was very dry. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful despite the place being pretty busy. We opted to sit outside because it was a little noisy inside and crowded, but we definitely did not get the same ambiance as the inside since the outside was just tables, chairs, tablecloths, and fake wall hedges. Still nice but not as nice as inside.
Food was excellent, that is not part of my rant. Our disappointment started when we walked through the door. We were never informed that Mother's Day was going to be buffet only. No where was this noted, not on DoveCote website, not on OpenTable, not when they called us to confirm the reservation and not when we checked into the hostess stand. We only found out once we were seated and asked our server. And the price was a little high, $46 for an adult, $26 for a kid. The disappointment continued with our server, she was very slow and inefficient. 2 of us got our drinks and then we had to wait 5-10 minutes for the last drink. She didn't clear the plates off the table as we were done with them and we had plates stacking up on our table. And to top it off there was supposed to be a 20% gratuity automatically added to our check, but of course our server forgot to add it, luckily we noticed and were able to tip based on the level of service. If I am going to spend $200+ on brunch I expect everything the be top notch, from the hostess to the food to the servers. DoveCote failed on 2 or the 3!
Update: Emailed the manager on Monday May 13 and as of today Thursday May 16 have heard nothing back about our experience. And it appears based on other reviews I have read other patrons had a similar experience on Mother's Day.
I had the worst service I’ve ever gotten in my life when dining here with my mom on Mother’s Day. Was not warned when making or confirming reservation that the regular menu would be unavailable for Mother’s Day brunch and the only dining option was a $50/per person buffet. The server did not clear dirty dishes once throughout our meal, the check was dropped while we were mid-bite with full plates, and after we had only been there for one hour the host asked us to get up and make room for the next party to arrive. The manager went around to every table except ours to wish the diners happy Mother’s Day. I felt unwelcome and frankly a bit shocked by the rudeness and poor service. I even wrote an email to the manager (something I have never done in my life) and received no response. Will never ever return to this restaurant which was previously one of my favorites.
We had Mother's Day brunch at DoveCote. It was our first visit to the restaurant. The food quality and selections were excellent, and the ambiance was beautiful. We'll definitely be back.
It was the perfect place for a special occasion. Our party included ages 16-88, and everyone found it delicious.
Entrees had great flavor, but were served warm. Should have been hot. Sides and desert were excellent.
