Been 3 times now and love it!! Pate and chicken main dish just fab! Sprouts magnificent!!
Amazing food and service! Couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our anniversary!
I was there for anniversary, The food was amazing ! The service was great , I would go back just for everyday dining , the food was delicious and unique favor ! Good wine selection ,I would said it’s on point
The wait staff is terrible ...... took forever to get our drinks and there was no sense of the waiter even caring we were there. Would have to ask multiple times for help...... The restaurant is way to expensive for that type of service. The menu is very limited as well.
Food was delicious, the restaurant was not busy and it's quite large so it felt empty and a bit cold - perhaps it was just a quiet night.
Tables incredibly close to each other. Intimate table for 2 set right next to a party of 14. Uh, no!
I love this place for the decor , food , and service . I’d recommend this place to anyone. It is allotted warm in their though.
Excellent food, excellent service! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Food was not good, over cooked and quite Salty. Service was slow and dishes ordered ribs, steak and fries had too much fat.
Dining experience was just “okay” for me and my friend. The staff was excellent and there’s nothing that they need change in terms of service. The meal was well paced and nothing came too soon or took too long to reach the table. The app was delicious and well portioned. The entrees were also well portioned and it came in a timely manner. However, neither of us was impressed with our food selections. Dessert was yummy and good end to the meal. I would recommend this place for drinks and apps/dessert but skip the meal.
Food is always fabulous. Service was almost nonexistent. Food was served and I never was asked if I needed anything else. You missed out on a sale of a bottle of wine and I was totally annoyed I had to ask for our bill by someone on the floor that was serving other tables! This is your second miss with me in four weeks time. Good food will only keep me coming back for so long, it is about the total experience! We need great restaurants in Orlando and you are one that is going to fail if you don’t get the service piece attended to.
We checked out DoveCote after seeing their Restaurant of the Year award in Orlando magazine. The Eggplant Appetizer if fantastic. The Chicken liver appetizer is a dud and was the bone marrow appetizer. They have great Brussell Sprouts, sides, and a fun, creative cocktail menu. Our servers were professional, friendly and helpful. For dessert, the Chocolate Souffle preferred over the Grand Mariner Souffle by the 6-0 margin. We had a great meal.
The first time we ate here, they were out of their signature drink and it took 20+ minutes to get our cocktails. I especially love blue cheese stuffed olives in my martini but one ones they serrved tasted like they were out of a jar. Food was good but did not make up for other things that just weren't as they should be. About a year later, friends had heard all the good reviews and wanted to go so we thought we should give it a second try. Pretty much the same thing happened; couldn't get the signature drink as they were again out. The olives were the same. Some of the food (beets with goat cheese and the sea bass were very good) but the other dishes were just OK. There are so many restaurants in the Orlando area that are exceptional that we just won't be back. Not sorry we tried this restaurant but for us, it just didn't live up to the hype.
DoveCote has a nice ambiance and attentive (but not that experienced) waitstaff. Not too loud - just right if you are trying to talk around a table without shouting.
Food is quite rich and nicely, simply presented - bistro style.
Communication with the kitchen was poor and dessert was a disaster, with feedback given 30 minutes later - perhaps an off night (a not too busy Saturday).
Nothing special, especially if looking for a special occasion.
The classics like Burger was pretty good. Did not like my sides too much. My friends liked the oysters
I love Dove Cote - great oysters, awesome cheese plate, good wines and yummy cocktails - and the vibe is unique for downtown Orlando. My only problem with this place is their policy that they won't seat your table until everyone is there. I understand that policy for a full restaurant - but when the restaurant is completely empty except for one other table, it's just silly. Wouldn't they rather me sit at my table and start with a drink and appetizer while I wait for the rest of my party?
The experience overall was definitely an 8.5/10! Food was delicious, cocktails were tasty (try the White Parisian), and the restaurant itself was very clean and had a high end vibe (at a reasonable price). The only reason not 10/10 was the dessert took a really long time to come out (about 20 minutes). It was just a mouse so I was a little shocked it took that long, and they didn’t appear to be packed at that time.
Food, bartender and server were great. Hostess was very rude and uppity. The restaurant was basically 25% full and she said you don’t have reservations? You will have to wait for 10 minutes, I laugh thinking she’s kidding and she walked off. I went onto open table made a reservation and went to the bar. Told her I did have reservations and she could let me know when she would like to seat us. Never came to get me so I asked her if she now had a table ready for my reservation, restaurant still basically empty. She rolled her eyes and seated us. I just don’t get what that power play was on her part and she would not seat us until she wanted, the tables were all set so there was nothing to do??? Oh well, go figure, some people 😠
My friend and I went to Dovecote early before our concert at the amway. It was my first time and I was impressed! I absolutely love the decor! We sat at a little table in the window and I loved it! We had French onions soup, grilled romaine salad and steak and frites for dinner followed by an excellent coffee mousse for dessert! The cocktails were well crafted and delicious! Love! Our server Anton was amazing! He had great recommendations and got us out in time to see our concert! Wonderful! Thank you!!
FOOD SERVICE AND AMBIANCE EXCELLENT ! Only problem is 3 double expressos were horrible and very salty! Obviously a machine problem !
Wonderful food, service and atmosphere. Great brunch menu with all you can drink rose.
I’ve had several fine meals at Dovecote, but last evening’s service left much to be desired. We had an 8 pm event, of which staff was aware when we sat down at 6:30. Only the appetizer appeared, at 7:30, after which we elected to cancel our order so we could make the event. It was clear several other tables attending the same event experienced the same issue. I’m not sure why the restaurant was not up to their usual level of service, but it was quite disappointing.
We picked this place because it was supposed to be the best dining option close to the Bob Carr Theater where we were going for a recent performance. We had never been there before. The place is easy to find, and the interior is nicely laid out (faux industrial look) and getting seated was no problem. The let down is the food, or at least my order. I ordered the chicken liver pate and the pork cutlet, neither of which I thought was even average. The consistency of the pate was too thick (spread like cold peanut butter) and the toasted ciabatta slices that accompanied the pate were cold when they came out. My wife wanted to try the Lyonnaise Salad, but we were told they were out of it (this was at 6:15). My wife's main course was actually quite good; she had the lemon-thyme chicken and given the poor quality of my cutlet, she graciously shared her dish with me. The chicken was a good size portion, juicy and tender with a delicious gravy. Her fries were hot and the asparagus was crisp. Unfortunately, my breaded cutlet was dry and tough. I'm tempted to make the old joke about the portion also being small, but given the quality, it didn't really matter. The pork cutlet came with a potato pancake that was awful. It was squishy (not crisp) and borderline tasteless. It had probably sat too long after coming out of the frypan. I thought it needed a touch of baking powder (so that it crisps up) and some more onions for taste, because as it sat, it was a failure. We didn't have dessert.
Having said what I did, I would still go back to this place and give it another try. It was a very busy night (Yo-Yo Ma was playing with the Orlando Philharmonic) so that may have contributed to the let down, and my wife's dish suggested that maybe what I got was just an aberration.
I'll give the place another chance.
Definitely a favorite now. 10/10 will go back to try, breakfast, brunch, lunch. Beautiful and sweet. Price is worth it for special occasion or nice date.
Great place and front of house was good, great food and drink and very relaxed. Great place.
Less French than just high end trendy. Excellent coffee. Decent wines by the glass. The lunch menu had a friend chicken sandwich, a burger, salads, etc. The usual in a way but all expertly prepared. I had a croque monsieur (one of the few French items) and it appeared to be made with peasant white bread and pastrami. Not what I was expecting but the food was uniformly delicious. Our waiter was solicitious without being intrusive. The space is beautiful and calming. The restaurant felt like a high end urban oasis. No other restaurant in downtown Orlando quite like it.
This is probably my tenth time dining at Dove Cote since it’s opening. The food continues to be superb. The service is outstanding. Not one single flaw in this gorgeous little brasserie . We love you Dove Cote and will be back soon.
Great night with a friend to celebrate her birthday. Very great table by the window. The server was very good and the food was phenomenal. Try the Brussel sprouts and the mussels. Also you must get the soufflé!
Excellent food at affordable prices, outstanding service! We will be back!
The octopus and escargot were spectacular, also was the hanger steak. But the short rib left a lot to be desired and here were a couple items that were undercooked, including the brussel sprouts. Finally, the waiter was behaving as if he was channeling a French reputation.
We really, really enjoyed this restaurant!. The food was great and the price was acceptable! Service was superb!!
What a great dining experience! It's tucked away in the Bank of America building, but this is truly a hidden gem. We had the brunch and tried a number of items, including their blueberry almond coffee cake (to die for), their banana bread, the yogurt parfait (amazing toppings), and the fried chicken sandwich (truly divine). And the price was SO reasonable. We were both amazed. The service was fast too! Definitely looking forward to visiting this restaurant again.
Dinner was exquisite and service was top notch.my two guests also enjoyed their meal. I will like to try the escargot on my next visit
Snails were very good! Nice decor!
Food and service were exceptional!
I was a bit surprised that they did not offer free refills on iced tea. I made the mistake of assuming that they did, until I saw the check (after having 2 refills) that they charged $3.00 for each. Perhaps if the waiter could have indicated this additional charge during the meal - it would have helped.
Food was delicious! Best French Onion soup I've had and a delicious omelette. Always great service and awesome craft cocktails.
Amazing as always! Second time there, dovecote never disappoints! Fantastic food, and wonderful service from keara :)
The menu offer a lot of interesting choices. It is French so it Rich. Be prepared for that. Hard to ding a restaurant for serving exactly what they say they do. But for example the Brussel Sprouts were so decadent with "carmelization" they were like eating candy, it was too much. The portions are also not super small as you might find in French dining. The desserts were amazing. Good wine list. Overall will go back for sure.
Interesting Appetizers ....chicken liver pate was delicious and octopus was good despite the overuse of hollandaise sauce. bread service was disappointing as you can get free bread service at most establishments and they would have been better. Wine list was acceptable and reasonable in price. Entree selection was a bit confusing and the pork was more German than French. Prime rib special was cooked properly and a good value. Entree selection was the "boring" part of the menu....Dessert was a Gran Mariner Soufflé and was one of the best I've had.
Outstand food and service, one of my favorite resturants in orlando!
