We sat outside and the weather was lovely, just obviously had to deal with the noise of 2nd Ave (the people’s chatter you come for, the engine revving you deal with). Our table was definitely too small for 3 as it was just one of the little squares, but they accommodated our three pizzas with a stool as extra table space. Amazing food though and that’s what really matters!
AMAZING food and ambience! We LOVE the pizza and appetizers! The drinks are excellent as well! Tons of outdoor seating! Great covid protocols with sanitizer on every table and QR code for touch free. A very fun ambience and tasty food at a good price
There seemed to be two people waiting on our table…. It took ahwode to get drinks and the bill. One entree came far ahead of the other three.
It was very, very loud for such a small restaurant.
The food is great as it always is at a Matthew Kenney restaurant.
My wife and I dined here on an early Sunday afternoon and we were treated to an amazing meal. We ordered the avocado toast as an appetizer, to be split between us, and it was unbelievable. It was our first time trying avocado toast and I’m afraid we have been spoiled for life. It was that delicious and the home fries that accompanied the AT were quite tasty as well. Next up were our pizzas. I had the pepperoni and my wife had the margherita. These perfectly sized personal pizzas featured some out of this world pizza sauce and most definitely the most mind blowing cheese I’ve ever tasted. The vegan pepperoni was flavorful and added just the right amount of pizzazz to my pizza. The crust had the perfect crunch and was cooked to perfection. Our pizzas had so much flavor and no grease or saltiness. I don’t know how the chef pulled it off. After finishing our incredible lunch we knew we had experienced something special. We had the most delicious pizza ever and we are including multiple restaurants all over Italy that did not compare to what we had here at Double Zero. Our review would not be complete with out acknowledging the great job of the wait staff. Everyone who served us was just incredible. We can’t wait to go back.
Pros: 100 % Vegan. , The food is beyond delicious. , The staff is amazing.
Service was poor and they had several staff. Gluten free crust was just ok. Vegan mozerella was good. Fake pepperoni bad. GF Chocolate cake was dry and old.
For health reasons I’ve started eating vegan. Double Zero was my first vegan restaurant I tried. It did not disappoint! Food was awesome, service was impeccable, ambiance was great. The East Village is great for people watching! If you go, enjoy! You won’t be disappointed!
Great food and service!
The cacio e pepe was so good. Wouldn’t recommend the potato pizza.
Never disappoints - love Double Zero. I’ve never been more proud of going to the same restaurant and consistently ordering the same pizza over and over again 🤣🏆
Their pizza was amazing….it just melts in your mouth…the best vegan pizza i have ever had in New York
Good eats nice ambiance
Really fun spot for groups. Great drinks and some really good beers on the menu. Pizza is terrific. Love that they can do any of them gluten-free upon request at no extra cost.
Always fabulous pizza and pasta! I reluctantly agreed to order the cheesecake to share and I’m so glad I did…yummy!!!
Really great food, very good service, awesome energy.
Double Zero is a beautiful restaurant with welcoming ambience and an intimate atmosphere. The visible stone hearth pizza oven was definitely one of the major highlights. The service was impeccable as my waiter gave attention to my individual needs as a diner. I had two different pizzas, both featuring a cashew element. I wished the menu had a greater range. However, the choices offered were well-made and elegantly presented. Well done, Matthew Kenney and Company!
Delicious pizza and salad. Would never have guessed it was vegan, and is right up there with top NYC pizzas that are not.
I got the potato pizza
Good pizza, just not stellar (particularly given the price). Innovative if not terribly healthy (but very light) nor protein-packed. Very attentive and sweet servers. Nice vibe.
Always a favorite whenever we’re in NYC! Been going here for years and love everything on the menu & wish I could eat here once a week! Until next time we’re in NY …. Bye double zero!! Love ya
AMAZING food, service, people, scenery ,etc. Literally loved everything about the place
This was my third time at double zero. The first two times were so average but as an ovo-vegan who loves Matthew Kenney and what he is doing for the plant based dining world I’ve wanted to continue to give this a chance.
This was the last time. The pizzas are just bad. I make better vegan pizzas at home. Seriously. They’re absolutely not worth it. They don’t taste fresh, they’re generally uninspired, and the crust is mediocre.
Also, the layout of the restaurant is beyond horrible. It’s uncomfortable, crowded like sardines and truly impossible to get even semi-decent service if you’re seated at the 6top against a wall. It makes for a generally unenjoyable evening.
I hate leaving this review for a Matthew Kenney restaurant but they need to hear it. And I’ve spent enough at his other restaurants (I went to Bar Verde the night before Double Zero and it was divine!) and his Casse-Cou chocolate creations (dear G-d they are heavenly!!) to make up for it.
Please don’t waste you time and money here until they make a real change.
Great food. Very interesting & tasty. Great vibe! Loved the indoor and outdoor seating!
Delicious food, good vibe, reasonable prices. We’ll be back for more!
Our waitress wasn't knowledgeable about the restaurant's food and the service was very slow.
I told her that I was gluten-free and she brought my pizza out with one slice covered in gluten-topping (vegan pepperoni). She stated it had gluten and then asked me, "this is okay, right?" Which it wasn't.. and shouldn't be when you tell your waitress you are gluten-free.
This place is so awesome! The food is delicious!! The drinks are also great and the vibe is really fun! Definitely highly recommend!!
The pizza is amazing! We got a few entrees to share between our family and the eggplant parmesan and the margherita pizza were our favorites.
Food and service were fantastic
Love this place!!! Vegan and (mostly) gluten-free, both the pizza and pasta dishes are excellent! Great service and reasonably priced, I recommend it to both vegans and non vegans alike.
Never disappoints! Insanely good vegan pizza. Totally next level compared to any other vegan pizza in NYC. Have been many tines and will be back.
It’s a good date spot for vegan adults.
We loved this place the past couple of times, but this time we sat outside and the ambiance was quite different. The service was confused and aloof. Food was being dropped that didn’t belong to us, they brought us warm beer, they auctioned off food, and the staff was setting up seating along the street very noisily. Everyone was very nice, but no one paid appropriate attention to the diners.
Food was incredible, can’t recommend the truffle pizza, Mac and cheese, and eggplant parm enough.
Always consistent. Absolutely, without a doubt, the best vegan pizza in NYC or anywhere. Great service, exceptional food, can’t recommend enough.
Always pleasure to dine at double zero! I’m glad they’re benefiting from outdoor dining!
Food was fantastic, and the service was solid. It felt a little packed in the restaurant, which was an adjustment but we got past it.
Pizza was amazing, need the cashew cream jarred to bring home!
We had a reservation, but it really felt like we were unexpected from the beginning. It was a busy night, and like all restaurants at this time, they seemed short staffed. We thankfully already had our entire order decided by the time the server arrived, which is probably the only reason our food came out in a timely manner because we then never had any contact with him afterward. He was very good at avoiding eye contact every time he walked by our table. The busser/food runner was the only person to come by the table to refill our waters. Another server had noticed that we had finished with our meal after we kindly stacked all of our plates and silverware at the edge of the table and offered our check.
We have finally been able to travel and celebrate our honeymoon after being married for over a year. We were looking forward to a glass of wine or two and some dessert, but decided to go elsewhere to continue celebrating.
The pizzas were absolutely incredible and the mushroom appetizer was addictive. Solid all around with a great outdoor seating situation.
Favorite pizza place
Very attentive hostess was very accommodating to my family of 4
Honestly, not the best vegan pizza I've had. The funghi pizza was excellent, but the others had these awful globs of cashew cheese that had the consistency of hummus vs. other softer vegan cheeses. Aesthetics wise, I understand they were trying to recreate the look of mozzarella dots on a Margherita pizza, but it really didn't work.
