They do amazing things with plant-based ingredients. Must try the meatballs with ricotta and sauce, pizza, and the chocolate dessert.

The food looks and tastes out of this world-
But I'm sure glad they're in OUR world!

It was a bummer. Service was super slow - didn’t feel like our dinner was imp. Nothing on the menu was really explained, crammed next to another couple. They didn’t read my reservation note. I’m sure it’ll get better but overall all won’t be back and not worth it. Felt like such a cool concept but that no one really cared to take order, get food on time or to check in how the meal was.

This was my favorite place in NYC and I am ecstatic that they have opened a location in Boston. Generally vegan options either taste just like meat OR feel healthy / nutritious to eat, but not both. Double Zero strikes the incredible balance: it tastes like you ate a pepperoni pizza but you won’t get the ‘meat sweats’! We will be back many, many times.

As a private chef, I am super excited to have a plant-based restaurant like Double Zero here in Boston!!!
We arrived a bit early and were seated promptly by the super-friendly manager, Carlos.
We opted to change tables and sit outside and were accommodated without a problem.
I dined with another chef friend and we sampled the following: Caesar salad, meatballs, eggplant parm, truffle pizza, artichoke pizza, and both desserts (tiramisu and bundini).
EVERYTHING was hot and delicious!!!
Our server, Stephania was super attentive and gregarious.

We were a bit hesitant to check this place out after reading some of the prior reviews but so happy that we followed our gut and checked out Double Zero!!!

The restaurant is only 3 weeks old, and perhaps the previous reviews were based on nights that were short-staffed.

Being in the industry and living in Boston, post-pandemic, I know that most restaurants are short-staffed and hurting for help.

I give this restaurant 5 stars and cannot wait to go back and work through the rest of the menu!!

Never going back. Food was horrible, wait staff was horrible. Worst $30 of my life. I got the potato pizza and the potato was undercooked and covered the whole pizza. This pizza was a white pizza, but had red sauce on it from using a dirty pizza cutter. Not good considering I told the waitress I had an allergy. Food had no flavor as well. And five members of waitstaff will watch you nonstop as you eat. Very uncomfortable.

This was unfortunately the worst dinning experience I’ve ever had in Boston. The hostess was extremely unprofessional & rude not only to customers but also to her staff. The staff was completely unresponsive and for the first time in my life I felt like no one deserved a tip. There is so much potential to have a great vegan restaurant on Newbury, but not with this management and staff. Employees cooking all wearing T-shirt’s and shorts, 0 covid precautions as you’re sitting at a long table shoulder to shoulder with random people. The staff who attempted to service us immediately dived into inappropriate stories about their life. I would not recommend, the food was your typical vegan eats you can craft at home for much less money. Huge disappointment!!

Food was delicious, sat right away even though we were late for our reservation. We were really impressed with the food and the options. The pizza was outstanding. We had the pesto pizza (my favorite) and the artichoke came in close second. The tossed salad was yummy as well. Wait staff seemed new, which I think comes with end of pandemic and covid and very slow. Took several minutes to get drinks and had to ask twice for seconds. Food took a while, but vibe was nice and we enjoyed the place. Shared long tables so not much distance between you and your neighbors.

When we were unable to make a reservation to sit outside because reservations don’t differentiate between indoor and outdoor seating, I thought that was strange… but I had no idea about what was in store for us.And when we arrived for our reservation I knew we were in trouble because of all the frowning faces and crossed arms of people crammed at the entrance.

Our name was finally called and the two of us were wedged between two parties of people which maybe would have have felt okay if covid weren’t an issue. The music was so loud everyone had to yell over each other in order to be heard which made it impossible to have a conversation.

The people next to us were served a bottle of wine with tall thin water glasses and when they asked for wine glasses the server looked perplexed. But at least they had drinks! Our drink only arrived once our pizza was half finished after having asked the sever twice for them.

And using the word “server” is a misnomer because there are actually no servers. All orders need to be placed online which would be fine if the menu was correct. For example, all of the beers were described as “raspberry seltzers” and no one who worked there could tell me what types of beers they actually were. The staff seemed surly and completely confused.

I think this place has potential only because the food is good and the cooks seem to know what they’re doing, but the owners need to rethink the service aspects of the restaurant. We may get take out there at some point again but we won’t be back to eat in person unless some radical changes are made.

The food was overall…terrific. Calzone needed some seasoning. Could only taste the bread. The service was a fiasco!!!!!! No one actually takes your order yet the wine list is not correct online. If you order something online and they don’t have it, no one comes to tell you. You will have to chase your order down. We noticed other patrons not getting their orders either. Also noticed a server telling someone interested in ordering food to take with them(restaurant was very busy) that they don’t do take out. Is this true? I saw orders packaged and leaving the restaurant.

Opportunity to be a great restaurant but the service was the worst. No clear communication between staff, community style dining in a small space (not Covid friendly). I love the idea of the restaurant but staff and management have some things to figure out before being able to accommodate Friday and Saturday night dining in Boston.

The worst dining experience of my life due to poor service. Food was great but took us 30+ minutes to get a drink. They were using a new ordering system which didn’t work and every time we asked for something we had to follow up 2 or 3 times to actually get it. Ordered dessert and never got it so after an hour and half just asked them to skip the dessert. Worst part was that it was acknowledged that we had a terrible service experience and not one item was comped.

We were shopping on Newbury Street in Boston and made a reservation at Double Zero for opening time at 5pm. We knew that the restaurant just opened.

We were greeted by a pleasant woman and waited a few minutes to be led to our table. The dining room is small with long tables at which multiple parties maybe seated. There was a tablet at the reception desk for delivery orders (Door Dash, Uber, ...). The tablet pretty constantly and loudly chimed indicating a new order. Annoying!!! Please turn down the alert volume and check the tablet every few minutes. I didn't need to listen to that.

There were QR codes at each table. These indicated only a table number. We've been around the block a few times and knew to scan the code for a menu. We placed our order and paid (paid before the meal was served--made it hard to decide on a tip). Then the server came by and asked if we needed any help placing our order. Order placed, we said and the server went to check if our order was received. Our order came to our table reasonable quick--dessert first, then salad, then pizza.

We enjoyed our chopped salad. My wife, who doesn't like olives, found that she enjoyed the olives on the chopped salad! My daughter, who doesn't normally eat salad, liked the salad, too. The 2 pizzas we ordered, Bianca and Artichoke, were great. The only criticism was that the crust was a little soggy in the middle, but the taste was great. We split a tira misu for dessert, another great selection.

Remember, Double Zero only recently opened, so I will cut them some slack here. But, the service was strange, with an odd flow. The servers were never there when you needed them and were certainly not available for menu questions. It took some time to hunt some one for a box for leftovers. I wish I didn't pay when we ordered. I might not have been as generous as I was with the tip. I am sure service will improve as time passes.

All in all, a good experience. We can't wait to try Double Zero again in a few month.

The food was good, but the overall dining experience left much to be desired. Be aware if you sit inside you will be seated at long, cramped communal tables next to strangers. The only private tables are those outside.

Additionally, there is no traditional table service and no server will come to you if you have questions or concerns. The ordering and payment is all done online via QR code. However, the online menu is confusing and evidently not all items are online, so I had to leave my table and find a server to order a glass of Prosecco.

Would recommend for takeout rather than dine-in.

Angela, our server, was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly & helpful. The food was delicious: the chopped salad, veggie balls with marinara, artichoke pizza, and tiramisu. The only improvement I would make is having the pizzas be larger and cut into more slices. The pizza we ordered was cut into 4 huge slices, but that made it harder to eat without toppings falling out. I would also make the food hotter, but everything was tasty regardless. We could really tell the food was made with top quality ingredients. The tiramisu was the best we ever had.

The ambience of the restaurant was too crowded and loud. The seating itself was very uncomfortable. I would recommend making all tables like the height of the shorter one. The tall barstool like tables were not comfortable for me and the second party.

Also, when we arrived we were told we had to sit right next to another group. We’re still in the middle of covid... why this was forced on us was awkward. I asked the host if it would be okay if we could sit outside and she said no, there’s a man out there waiting. That was a lie, no one was out there waiting when I looked. There was an open table and I had made reservations. When I asked if we could sit at least one chair over from the party next to us, the host said no. That’s when I looked at my guest and I could tell they wanted to leave because of this. I asked them, “would you rather go somewhere else?” That’s when the host said for this instance, we could sit one seat over. We noticed that this happened to 2 more parties who showed up after us. Same thing - they didn’t want to sit right next to another group. I understand the restaurant is trying to maximize seating, but it feels intrusive & very uncomfortable. Unfortunately for this reason I don’t think I would return.

The music was also blasting and it was hard to hear my guest right across from me. It was a lot of odd music (like “My Humps” from Black Eyed Peas lol). The playlist overall was weird.

We ordered caesar salad and pepperoni pizza, which were both delicious. The pizza in particular was such a treat for my vegan friend. Crust is perfect, cheese and sauce delicious, the vegan pepperoni will never be mistaken for the real thing, but it's very tasty (and spicy!) and adds a lot. Unfortunately the ambience isn't great. The a/c is a bit much since the pizza gets cold so quickly. The noise level is also a bit much especially with the cafeteria-style seating. Their menu and ordering system is all done via smartphone which is normally not a problem, but it didn't work on my phone, so I had to order and pay the old-fashioned way, and I felt like the servers were blaming me somehow. The worst is the wine pour! For sixteen dollars I got the skimpiest glass of wine I've ever seen! (and yes, I understand it's not supposed to be filled to the top. This was maybe one-quarter filled.) Food is so good, but the experience was not, and I'm not sure I'll be returning.
