   Made a booking through OpenTable, picked my parents up from Helensvale, drove there.. IT WAS CLOSED. Also, another couple had made a booking and turned up at the same time as us, only to discover it was closed.

   I had bread and dips and a fish taco, both very yummy. Serving sizes were generous. Service wa excellent.

   We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast visit to Double Barrel at Benowa. We had an excellent waitress, who was attentive to our needs and our food certainly showed that she had carefully recorded special requests. The food was well presented and delicious. Serving sizes were good. Concerns: The cash register is now at the entry point. We had to wait considerable time-despite having a reservation, as a group at the register couldn't make up their mind about their order and no-one could progress until the order was sorted. The same issue happened on the way out when two ladies couldn't decide on the drinks they wanted. Once we were inside we had no menus. The staff member on the register still had a queue to manage. We sat there till we saw the menus outside on the pole. The system seemed to flow better when the register was indoors. Parking is always an issue. It is normally impossible to park in the area where one should park. Illegal pool parking is the only issue.

   Disappointment is an understatement. I have been coming to this cafe for years. I am there normally once every fortnight. The owners have changed the menu where a lot of the items that differentiated the cafe have been removed. The ordering process is ridiculous as they have taken away table service so you have to line up in the same line where people are trying to find a table, it is the most disorganised chaos.. Our meals we normally love but our coffees came out 10 min before our meals and were cold by the time the food arrived. When it arrived our toast which is usually beautiful fresh sourdough was cold stale bread. I ordered a side of avocado for $4.5 and got 2 thin slices much less than a 1/4 of an avocado. It has put me off returning. Such a shame as I was a regular.

Our sourdough is delivered fresh daily, baked the day before, and our side of avocado is a quarter, sliced and garnished to complement the dish.    Double Barrel is our regular haunt at weekends. The food is consistently good, and the coffee is always just what’s required to get the day going.

   Second time at Double Barrel and must say we weren’t disappointed friendly and welcoming staff as well as exceptional food serves were very generous. Highly recommend

    I was extremely disappointed having to pay at the entrance before being seated. I understand if people are sitting outside because of runners but siting at the booth and 6 of us having to get up to order and pay was a hassle. Why can’t people inside have a bill? We would have had another coffee but all too hard. I had one piece of sourdough, poached egg and coffee at it was over $28. Another person at the table had the egg and bacon burger. It was massive and cheaper. Staff were amazing. Chrissie

Regarding your Rustic Avo breakfast you ordered, it includes two pieces of sourdough, avocado, feta, and a glaze garnish. Your modifications—one sourdough, no feta, no glaze—significantly altered the dish. Additionally, you added a poached egg. Customized meals can sometimes differ from the intended experience, but we aim to accommodate preferences. The Rustic Avo is $19.50, with $3.50 for the poached egg and $5.30 for the coffee, totalling $28.30. Removing elements doesn’t reduce the price, as menu items are priced based on overall preparation. We hope you’ll give us another chance to provide an excellent experience.
