Delicious way to celebrate a wonderful spring evening! Fantastic and knowledgeable server with delightful food and plenty of gluten-free options for me to eat!
Thanks! We enjoyed ourselves (even though we didn't drink!)
Authentic Mexican food with a modern twist. Enjoyed the food and the service was fantastic!
Dinner before DPAC show is usually at Dos Peros for our family. Menu is fresh, specials are unique, and margarita's excellent. The noise level permits conversation. My wife and I enjoyed the Red Snapper special. We all had a great time.
Awesome margaritas. Short rib enchiladas were very good as well as the N.C. shrimp. Good service, good value, easy walking distance to DPAC
We love Dos Perros and it’s our go-to eatery for pre-show dinners. However, we were disappointed this last time. We both had the specials and they were only okay. The lemon chicken quesadilla would have been good but the flavor of the chicken was overpowered but too much feta cheese. The swordfish tacos special was supposed to be a full meal but was not enough. We hope that future meals are better.
Having dined at Dos Perros several times, I have some perspective. The food is of great quality, although portions are relatively small. There has been a steady decline in the level of service over the last 3 years. They seem to be more concerned with turning the table over quickly than your satisfaction or dining experience. While I will likely return to the restaurant, I will no longer go on a weekend night, or on the night of a show at DPAC...they simply are too concerned with turning over tables, and quality of experience.
Dos Perros is a go-to spot for us before going to DPAC for a show. The food is good, the server is always attentive to our needs, and the margaritas are excellent. This time we had a guest from Germany who likes Mexican food and is vegetarian. We were all able to find menu offerings that were tasty and satisfying, though our guest found her chilis rellenos a bit spicy (she only thinks she likes Mexican food, I suspect). I always recommend Dos Perros to people who for whatever reason have never discovered it.
Really good first experience. Food was flavorful and the presentation was lovely. The staff was attentive and friendly. The margaritas were YUMMY. Will definitely be going back the next we are in Durham!
Lovely meal. Super friendly helpful staff. Camarones - delicious
Chocolate mousse delicious with a hint of spice
Food was delicious and unique!
We had tickets for a show at DPAC and it was a perfect location.
We had a reservation, were seated right away and our server was so knowledgeable in
guiding us to what we might like best.
It was DELICIOUS! We also enjoyed some vegan chocolate ice cream and that was a delight.
We will be back soon!
Outstanding foods. Finally found a restaurant with a good mole sauce--and not just one, but three variants. One notable appetizer (2/17) was a duck tamale with a slightly sweet mole sauce, rich enough to be a savory dessert. Everything I've tried here has been terrific. Not Tex-Mex at all, closer to actual Mexican cuisine, which is pretty complex. Kudos to the chef.
Always great food and service.
We were disappointed in our dinner at Dos Perros. Granted, it was Valentine's Day, but they put us in the basement, the service was slow, and the food not as good as we remembered it. We ordered guacamole as soon as we sat down and the waitress forgot it and by the time she brought it we were out of chips so we had to wait for her to bring chips. Same with a second drink. The sweet potato empanadas tasted like they were filled with bland baby food; the Caesar salad was drenched in dressing. The restaurant seems to have gone downhill. They need to change up their menu more. They need more vegetarian entrees besides the chili relleno.
One of my favorite restaurants! Great food, great service and awesome Margaritas. The brussel sprout queso is amazing!
Filled with tables of undergraduates screaming at each other .
Management should try to keep voices at indoor levels
If you are over 30 - avoid
We skipped desert & coffee to find quiet. So restaurant did not sell 4 deserts & 4 coffees- maybe $50 in lost revenue & we won't return.
Love this place. We live over an hour away, but most any time we're in Durham for a show, this is THE dinner stop.
Sat in the bar side - very quiet and pleasant. Fantastic service and food was superb.
great place to dine before an event at DPAC. Food and presentation great. A favorite for us.
Celebrated my birthday a few days late. We were seated promptly. It took awhile for the server to come by, but after she did, service was very prompt. Outstanding sangria. We will come back and try taco night.
7 person business meeting. Table was ready and waiting for us even though we were 10 minutes early. Great service and timing for a group of people having a business lunch. Great selection of food that is business appropriate without breaking the bank.
Always enjoy DosPerros. Great cocktails and at least a few options for the vegetarians and vegans among our group. Could do with a few more choices there.
Night out with my girls!!
The food at Dos Perros was good, and the place was lively and a fun place to spend time with our friends. The margaritas were also great. Unfortunately, we made a reservation so we could try the Triangle Restaurant Week menu, but by 7:45 it was unavailable. When we ordered off the regular menu, a chicken dish we wanted to order was sold out, as was the chocolate mousse. What was the point of coming here for restaurant week, exactly? It was disappointing, and I wish I had tried another place instead. I would recommend the restaurant to others, but not doing restaurant week.
Dos Perros is so good! I like it more and more each time I go. This was my third visit. The atmosphere is comfortable and attractive. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is EXCELLENT! I highly recommend the hot guava margarita - really tasty!!
The place was full and very loud. The bar side was much quieter and the place we'll sit next time.
Great experience, loved the restaurant week prix fixe options. Everything was delicious and staff was accommodating.
Went for the restaurant week special, loved the $5 margarita, appetizers, tacos, and enchiladas. Not terribly interested in the desserts. Service was good, beer list is good.
My husband I have been visiting Dos Perros over the years. Since having our children, our visits have been infrequent. So it was not surprising to find out the whole menu changed. I did find that the two vegetarian entrees were actually on the old menu. Anyways, we ordered appetizers and drinks. Margs were ok. I had the hot guava one.
We decided to order our entrees after they brought my black bean soup( not bad). Not even 5 minutes later our enteees were at our table and our guacamole was never brought to us. My husband and I got the vegan flautas, which I have had before and loved. My husband is not a huge meat eater and was a bit disappointed to see the menu had a ton of organ meats and red meat that he avoids. So he felt safer with a veg. option. We both thought the entree was extremely bland. It was edible but I would probably not order again. I love hot sauce and the new hot sauce they serve is very good, so that helped flavor my food.
Anyways, we felt like we were at a chain Mexican restaurant that was trying to hurry us through our dining experience. We drove from Chapel Hill, so we were pretty disappointed. Not sure if we will be back🙁.
Good food. Terrible parking. Parking garage full. Drove around for 20 minutes.
Not sure if the wait is always long at Dos Perros or if they were understaffed that night, but we waited 1h15 minutes for our food to arrive since ordering.
The food was delicious and wait staff was really nice, though. You can always drink off their extensive tequila menu while you wait for your food ;)
We had great service the night we went before a Saturday night show a The DPAC. The place was packed, but the service was impeccable. The food was also great! We enjoyed the guacamole, and I had enchiladas with duck. Both were delicious! The only complaint I had was the noise level, but there’s really no way to correct that unless they move to a different location. We will definitely be back again!
We had a 6:30 reservation before an 8:00 show and it took over a hour to get our food.
Our party of four all thought the food was excellent. I have to eat gluten free and loved the chips, guacamole, margaritas and lamb tacos that I had.
Food and service were both excellent. We will defiantly be back.
Great food. Wait staff extremely knowledgeable, and friendly.
