Dorrego's @ Hotel Valencia Riverwalk
Got there at 10:50 and no breakfast options on a Sunday. Proceeded to order empanadas. About 5-10 min later was told they were out but they had cheese and corn ones left. Then when the rest of the parties food came out was told they were out of those too. Ordered something which was simple but it meant I was eating alone while everyone else waited for me.
The website make the appearance that this is a chic Argentine restaurant with an upscale ambiance. I was expecting something more akin to Bohanan’s, which is just down the street, but instead we found Dorrego’s to be a loud, mediocre hotel restaurant filled with loud tourists wearing everything from cargo shorts and t-shirts to off the rack jackets and jeans. The only thing “chic” about this place was the prices. Our served Madison was ver friendly, and apologized several times about the noise level from two very large groups. Instead of ordering the overpriced meals, we opted for a glass of wine and a few of the appetizers. The wine was maybe a 6/10, but the amount of wine that was poured for $12 a glass was maybe 6 oz, and far less than one would expect for the price and quality. The empanadas were tasty, and the chimichurri was about a 7/10. Not the best I’ve had, but also not bad. In all, I spent $50 for appetizers and two glasses of wine, and left to eat dinner in a more place more fitting for a quiet date down the street.
Mussels, Empanadas, Paella and Risotto were all very tasty. Yes, it does get loud b/c it is a small restaurant. I would still go back though.
Good bar. We split a pear salad and the paella. Must have been 6+ types of meat and seafood in the paella. Chorizo in the mix was best i have ever had. Not greasy and a good flavor. 3 kinds of Bread was very tasty.
The food, the staff and our waiter Bret was amazing. Bret was amazinging funny, entertaining, accomodating and just all around a delight to have with us. We were part of a group of 3 couples and were made to feel very special. Food was delicious! We can hardly wait until our next visit!
Had dinner post theater. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was wonderful. Server suggested the paella was enough to share. It was more than enough and delicious. She suggested a wine which we loved.
The beef empanadas were a great appetizer. We had an excellent experience and hope to return!
Will go there again.
Perfect for before or after the theater.
It's a beautiful restaurant, and the staff is friendly. But really, you go to a restaurant for the food, and ours was not very good at all. The crostini were stale, and very oily. The risotto was very gluey instead of creamy, and the shrimp in it were not all peeled. We even sent the crostini back, and the replacement was still sale, but even oilier.
Great food, very authentic with lots of flavor, The empanadas are amazing and the wine list is really good with a very reasonable mark up. Wait staff knowledgeable, attentive and loves their jobs as reflected in their good nature and big smiles. Service is prompt.
This was such a delightful find! Everything I had was delicious and the service was outstanding. The engaging server Brianna helped me navigate the wine menu and with discussion about our prospective meal she was able to suggest the most complimentary wine. Definitely worth the price on the Tomahawk steak. My husband split the steak and ordered sides and plenty to take home. We will be going back for sure!
The ambience was pleasant, except that the restaurant was quite noisy. The server was courteous and attentive. However, the food was disappointing. My husband and I both had the risotto. He had the shrimp and pea, and I had the mushroom and bacon. I tasted his risotto, and it was acceptable, but I could have made the same dish better st home. My risotto was mushy. It was over cooked to the point where I could barely identify the mushrooms and bacon. It was really more of a porridge, and I am not fond of porridge. I did not eat much of it, and I ordered the bread pudding with coffee. The coffee was excellent, and the bread pudding was good. My husband and I agreed we would not come back. One further note: last year I had a truly wonderful dish at Dorregos. It was gnocchi with a wonderful sauce. So, I was surprised this time.
Jacob, our server, was very polite and accommodating.
Everything was wonderful. The food was outstanding and the service was even better.
Our server Brianna understands what "Customer Service" means!
We had a great experience!! Love the environment, and the food was FANTASTIC! But, best part was the services. Everyone at the restaurant was awesome, and Madeline particularly was great. We had a situation, and she was all over it. Acted quickly on her feet and fixed it before we had time to get concerned. We really appreciated it and had a wonderful evening!!
Our party of 6 enjoyed a lovely Christmas night dinner thanks to good food and cheerful, attentive service by Madison!
Fantastic food and wine! Our waiter was terrific!
Our server Madison was excellent. She was attentive and just overall very sweet. She ensured that we had a very pleasant experience. Mr Touché was also helpful, he chatted with us and constantly checked in on us during the dinner.
This place is definitely one we would recommend.
The food was excellent and the price point reasonable as well.
Food is good. Service was adequate but not attentive. Found it odd that while offering chicken and beef empanada's, separately with 2 per plate, they would not allow 1 plate with one of each, beef and chicken. Server made some excuse as to why they could not do one of each - Really?
Date night And show at the Majestic
We had reservation before our show at the majestic. The host very cordial and had very nice personality. Our server was Madison, she is extremely knowledgeable about the menu and guided us through our drink and food choice. The is very important since wife no tolerance to spicy food, she ordered the lasagna, I ordered the salmon with a side of zucchini/squash. We started with a roast beets salad, which large enough for two, and very fresh. We both loved entree's prepared and served perfectly. Our server was prompt and very attentive. This was a very memorable evening, and we will gladly return.
Brett our server was fantastic, helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. What a great experience. Thank you for setting us up in the private dining room. It was just perfect for entertaining our out of town guests. Cheers!
Very enjoyable meal, staff was very friendly and provided excellent service. Food was very good and portion sizes were very generous. I wish I had saved room for desert, the next table over had what looked to be a wonderful dessert.
the service was beyond anything I have experienced at any hotel. Bret and Brianna took such good care of us and wanted to acknowledge their service.
Booked for husband’s birthday based on reviews.
Roberto was an amazing waiter. He was enthusiastic, extremely intelligent, and most of all very entertaining. Will most definitely ask for him next time we come in
Argentinian beef should almost be cut with a fork...tenderloin was very tasty but the meat though good, was not as tender as I would have thought.... the sauce was good....potato and asparagus was cooked very well...salad was very good.
Noise level was too high due to the bar next to the dining room. Once the people cleared it was very quiet and enjoyable.
We had dinner and breakfast at this restaurant. The food was very good at both meals. Delicious drinks at dinner, and warm yummy bread preceded our meal. We ordered the grouper with orzo and asparagus which was awesome! It was a large portion, which we shared. The other entree was the rib eye with tomatoes and sweet potatoes....delicious, and also shareable! For the dessert we had the banana empanadas.....awesome! Service was very good....very attentive!
Breakfast was a completely different story! Restaurant was almost empty...1 other table...
Service was VERY SLOW! There were 4 of us....after a long wait, 2 orders came out...missing the biscuits and gravy....then after almost 10 minutes the other 2 orders of waffles came out......then awhile later the biscuits and gravy came...when they were almost finished with the first part of the breakfast! This was NOT our server’s fault.....it was the kitchen unable to get orders out correctly! We mentioned it to someone who appeared to be a manager....he passed it on to our server, who did apologize! The food was good....just the service out of the kitchen. This experience was a bad end to an otherwise very good evening!
I preface this by saying that we were at Dorrego’s on a very busy evening - the holiday river parade.
Service was slow. Took a long time to get drinks. Appetizer mussels with chorizo were great! Bread was great. I didn’t particularly enjoy the roasted beet salad. I like beets, but something was texturally off. When my shrimp & pea risotto arrived, it looked beautiful! Shrimp were huge. However, at first bite, the rice was seriously undercooked. I told waitstaff. My husband was disappointed with his salmon. They promised to deduct the risotto, but the check came and it was still there. A manager said it would be credited after the fact. Upon checkout next morning, the charge had not been credited. I was disappointed but didn’t want to make a scene. I will talk to them in the next day or so.
Prices were very reasonable. Food was delicious. Service was exceptional. Eileen was top notch. Her recommendation of the fried green olives was spot on and we really enjoyed.
Food was ok but hardly any was Argentinian and even less Argentina wine. Dorregos bar is plain and cold and naranja bar does not exist nor does the Vbar I saw advertised in a magazine (Novembwe issue). Wife given a wrong (old) menu. Not asked if we wanted a drink or an appetizer when seated. Hardly any food looked Argentina to me. Later a man (Mario) came and apologized). Service was weak but Ok. Bald guy with glasses on his head does what? Seversl people kept trying to clear our (not yet empty) appitizer plate; like they had to look busy. Very dissapointed
would not return nor suggest this place to anyone as they seem disorganized, and not Argentinian at all.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner. The buffet was outstanding. High quality meats and cheeses, fresh abundant seafood as well as great turkey prime rib and all the sides. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
And or waitress was excellent. Kept an eye on our table all the time. Never had to ask for refills, new silverware or anything.
We will definitely return.
The experience of eating Thanksgiving Dinner at Dorrego's was wonderful. From seating us in our own room to giving us excellent service, we were very impressed with the operations of the restaurant. The food was plentiful, varied and delicious. All in all, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone - local or tourist.
Excellent fine dining experience!! The attention to detail = deliciousness of all courses. Wish we lived closer, as we live out of state, but we will be back!
Restaurant was not busy at all, only a few tables seated and our service was friendly, but incredibly slow. I thought my husband might be completely full of the bread before our wine even arrived. After finally getting our food and finishing we ordered two cappuccinos and they were horrible. We asked if we could just have coffee and it wasn't drinkable. We paid and left, never to return.
The best I can say is the food was acceptable and the location was great.
I would recommend but with the caveat that it was relatively expense for the quality of food-the portions are very generous which allowed everyone to take some home.
We were expecting a more "Argentinian" menu than the one offered. The service was excellent, professional and polite. The manager came to our table to ask about the service and food. Very tasty and well-prepared risotto and a Milanese pork chop.
6 of us dined in the private dining room. It was perfect for us to visit and not disturb others. Everyone’s food was great. We shared empanadas to start. Everyone ordered something different and we all took bites. We love the risottos much more than the paella. It was actually our least fav dish. The wine selection is great and the staff was very attentive.
Amazing experience. Great staff, our server Brianna was excellent. Valet parking is an added bonus. We will definitely visit again.
Theatre afternoon. Beet salad was disappointing. Server was not well trained.
I was excited to try this restaurant. The service was friendly but very slow. It took 15 minutes from ordering a bottle of wine to it arriving at our table. The time between order and receiving our entrees was very long as well.
Our server ask if we were going to see the show that night and we said yes. He knew we had a hard departure time yet did not seem to know how to manage that. This restaurant is one block from the Majestic. They need to improve there timeliness if they want to attract the show crowd
Food was ok. Not great. I was looking forward to the empanadas but would not order them again. They were a little doughy and bland.
I will not be back
