Dorrego's @ Hotel Valencia Riverwalk
We were expecting a more "Argentinian" menu than the one offered. The service was excellent, professional and polite. The manager came to our table to ask about the service and food. Very tasty and well-prepared risotto and a Milanese pork chop.
6 of us dined in the private dining room. It was perfect for us to visit and not disturb others. Everyone’s food was great. We shared empanadas to start. Everyone ordered something different and we all took bites. We love the risottos much more than the paella. It was actually our least fav dish. The wine selection is great and the staff was very attentive.
Amazing experience. Great staff, our server Brianna was excellent. Valet parking is an added bonus. We will definitely visit again.
Theatre afternoon. Beet salad was disappointing. Server was not well trained.
I was excited to try this restaurant. The service was friendly but very slow. It took 15 minutes from ordering a bottle of wine to it arriving at our table. The time between order and receiving our entrees was very long as well.
Our server ask if we were going to see the show that night and we said yes. He knew we had a hard departure time yet did not seem to know how to manage that. This restaurant is one block from the Majestic. They need to improve there timeliness if they want to attract the show crowd
Food was ok. Not great. I was looking forward to the empanadas but would not order them again. They were a little doughy and bland.
I will not be back
We came here for a bachelorette party! We originally had five in a reservation so they sat us in the private dining room right off of the bar area. It was a private dining experience and we really enjoyed the food and drink that we had! Would definitely recommend this room for private parties for a more intimate dining experience. Will be returning!
Terrible experience from the moment we walked in. Poor greeting from Host. Sat for 25 minutes without ever getting drinks or placing order. waiter a complete fool. Don't go!
We sat out on the small patio, not really overlooking the riverwalk. If you stood up and went to the railing you could see it. The setting was still quite lovely though. Seating very comfortable. Only two other groups were dining and there was no one occupying the dining room. I thought odd, but maybe because it was Monday night. The service was excellent, although it took a long to get food, especially considering the smal crowd dining. Empandas were delicious. My shrimp risotta was rather bland and not what I would call risotta, more like dry rice with green peas and only six shrimp on top. My husband's paella was only three dollars more and we could have easily shared it. As many shrimp I had plus fish, clams, scallops. We ended up having leftover enough for two more meals! It was very flavorful. Based on reviews, I had very high expectations. Unfortunately those expectations were not met. Not bad, just not exceptional.
Unique food. Wish the menu was a bit more expansive, but some good offerings not typically found in San Antonio. The empanadas were AMAZING. Our server was extremely personable and attentive. Cocktails DELICIOUS! Overall, excellent experience that we hope to replicate with friends.
Waitress got our order wrong, breakfast was cold and not at all what we expected. The surroundings were beautiful boutique hotel.
Service was unbelievable and our server should be held up as the standard! She made our experience awesome!
Food was excellent, service not so. We asked for outdoor seating, which was fabulous overlooking the over. We waited a long time to received our drinks, then the same for our food. Our waiter spoke As if there were recent previous ongoing problems with the restaurant. Not professional at all.
Had breakfast at Dorrego’s. The food was bland and unauthentic. My husband and I are currently suffering from GI issues due to our meals. I wish there was something positive to say about the servers at least, but there’s not. Our server came up and said, “Do you know what you want?” She didn’t introduce herself or anything. For the price of everything, I would expect details to be better kept up with as well, such as dried water rings on the table next to us, which tells me it never got wiped down and it makes me question the cleanliness of the entire place. I do not recommend and we will not be back.
Place is nice, nice view of river walk. Food was not as good as I was hoping. Empanadas lacked flavor. Service was ok...our server kept forgetting to bring silverware/refill/check...but he was a nice guy. Don’t plan going back there.
Only reason we have gone is because we have a $25 coupon from the Broadway series. Food is good and expensive. Waitstaff good, but food took a very long time to be served which is a kitchen problem! Wish Broadway would get another restaurant to offer!
This is second time we try Dorrego's and it was worth giving them a second chance. Food and service was outstanding!!
Great food and great service
One of the best steaks I've ever had at a restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed the cuts with the chimichurri.
Service was super slow, food was good.!
The food is terrible. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone
We were really hoping for something new and different than the usual Riverwalk cuisine. The best thing about the restaurant was the Ambiance and atmosphere. The waiter just assumed things about us, for instance one we ordered the potatoes he said I know you guys like things buttery and cheesy but these are not buttery and cheesy. I was looking at my phone while waiting on him to refill our drinks and he was behind me looking at the photos on my phone and then started commenting on what I was looking at. The butter that came with the bread was rancid and had been left out for at least two days according to the taste. I ordered the paella even though it says on the menu it takes 25 minutes to make. When it came it was just a cooked box of yellow rice, probably Tony's or Zatarain's-I am 100% positive because I cook that at home. It had maybe two skinny pieces of dried leftover chicken about the size of a quarter and maybe one slice of link sausage chopped up and probably for frozen peas on top. I never complain about food but when you pay $30 for something that is supposed to be different and then you get a cheap box of Tony's rice which takes 25 minutes to simmer according to the directions on the box, you leave a bad review. I ate the dinner and it was not bad but it was definitely cheap and not prepared by a real chef. My husband got the chicken stuffed with chorizo, which was not stuffed with chorizo but more like soggy bread and a couple of pieces of chorizo on the side. I don't recommend eating at this restaurant, and if you do I would probably eat the bar menu food. The hotel on the other hand is great.
The food was tasty and flavors very authentic. The plates were a good size, not too large that we felt stuffed. The most notable part of our experience was the service. Brianna did such an outstanding job that we praised her service to the floor manager. We were well taken care of and given the right amount of quiet space to enjoy a family dinner. Hands down the best service we've had in a long time!
Excellent food and atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dorrego's to anyone.
We were disappointed in the selection and quality of the food.
Our server, Jacob, definitely made our dinner at Dorrego’s memorable. We celebrated my fiancé’s birthday by trying out the restaurant week menu and it did not disappoint. The caprese salad paired with the lasagna dish was amazing, very flavorful! We ended up trying both the orange valencia cake and crepes...so delicious! I would say the only thing missing from our experience was music. Customer service and food both deserve five stars!
I was very disappointed in the restaurant week experience. I might be willing to try it one more time as I would like to try the paella but Otherwise the dinner I had with the restaurant week menu, lasagna, was not good at all. Everything seemed pre-prepared and microwaved
Our breakfast was outstanding! The potatoes with the bit of onion and bell pepper were so good and tasty with the scramble egg and bacon... it came with the most softest fluffiest biscuit covered in sausage gravy!! Meal in itself! Coffee and juice were good and appropriate temperature. Service was prompt and and our servers were EXTREMELY attentive! Loved them both!
Great restaurant week menu! The shrimp empanadas were spectacular! Could have just had that as a meal! Everything else was great too. The Orange Crush cocktail is as superb...could be dangerous!!!
Third visit, the food has been bland every time. Not worth the price.
Would have preferred one large table xs 3 small ones. Service was slow for some entrees.
Dorrego’s exceeded all expectations. The beet and arugula salad, freshly prepared paella, salmon, and flan were perfectly prepared and delicious to the last bite. Combine that with attentive service, a stylish interior, and free valet parking at The Valencia and Dorrego’s instantly became a place we definitely want to try again soon.
Poor acoustics and direct sun radiating through window in evening.
Beautiful decor, excellent service, and good food. The empanadas were delicious, as was the carpaccio. Unfortunately, the smallest steak was 14oz so I had the risotto instead. It would be great to have a smaller steak available. The dessert was mediocre, the pie crust was rubbery and the filling was bland. However, i would strongly recommend this restaurant!
Nice restaurant, good service. Food was very enjoyable and favorable. We enjoyed the bread, the empanadas and our main courses.
We had a wonderful time. The food was great, waitress was very sweet, helpful, & attentive to our needs. This was our second visit there and we'd go again.
Roberto was delightful, knowledgable about the menu and provided good recommendations.
Avoid at all costs!
I had the risotto and it was extremely salty. My husband told me to send it back but we were in a rush so I did not. Normally love this place so was a bummer...
Restaurant was nice, waiter was very friendly. Dishes were bland an lackluster.
Nice dinner experience. Brianna did a wonderful job. We were a group of six. Service was great. Paella was good as well as the empanadas. We will definitely be back.
