Dorrego's @ Hotel Valencia Riverwalk
The food is terrible. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone
We were really hoping for something new and different than the usual Riverwalk cuisine. The best thing about the restaurant was the Ambiance and atmosphere. The waiter just assumed things about us, for instance one we ordered the potatoes he said I know you guys like things buttery and cheesy but these are not buttery and cheesy. I was looking at my phone while waiting on him to refill our drinks and he was behind me looking at the photos on my phone and then started commenting on what I was looking at. The butter that came with the bread was rancid and had been left out for at least two days according to the taste. I ordered the paella even though it says on the menu it takes 25 minutes to make. When it came it was just a cooked box of yellow rice, probably Tony's or Zatarain's-I am 100% positive because I cook that at home. It had maybe two skinny pieces of dried leftover chicken about the size of a quarter and maybe one slice of link sausage chopped up and probably for frozen peas on top. I never complain about food but when you pay $30 for something that is supposed to be different and then you get a cheap box of Tony's rice which takes 25 minutes to simmer according to the directions on the box, you leave a bad review. I ate the dinner and it was not bad but it was definitely cheap and not prepared by a real chef. My husband got the chicken stuffed with chorizo, which was not stuffed with chorizo but more like soggy bread and a couple of pieces of chorizo on the side. I don't recommend eating at this restaurant, and if you do I would probably eat the bar menu food. The hotel on the other hand is great.
The food was tasty and flavors very authentic. The plates were a good size, not too large that we felt stuffed. The most notable part of our experience was the service. Brianna did such an outstanding job that we praised her service to the floor manager. We were well taken care of and given the right amount of quiet space to enjoy a family dinner. Hands down the best service we've had in a long time!
Excellent food and atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dorrego's to anyone.
We were disappointed in the selection and quality of the food.
Our server, Jacob, definitely made our dinner at Dorrego’s memorable. We celebrated my fiancé’s birthday by trying out the restaurant week menu and it did not disappoint. The caprese salad paired with the lasagna dish was amazing, very flavorful! We ended up trying both the orange valencia cake and crepes...so delicious! I would say the only thing missing from our experience was music. Customer service and food both deserve five stars!
I was very disappointed in the restaurant week experience. I might be willing to try it one more time as I would like to try the paella but Otherwise the dinner I had with the restaurant week menu, lasagna, was not good at all. Everything seemed pre-prepared and microwaved
Our breakfast was outstanding! The potatoes with the bit of onion and bell pepper were so good and tasty with the scramble egg and bacon... it came with the most softest fluffiest biscuit covered in sausage gravy!! Meal in itself! Coffee and juice were good and appropriate temperature. Service was prompt and and our servers were EXTREMELY attentive! Loved them both!
Great restaurant week menu! The shrimp empanadas were spectacular! Could have just had that as a meal! Everything else was great too. The Orange Crush cocktail is as superb...could be dangerous!!!
Third visit, the food has been bland every time. Not worth the price.
Would have preferred one large table xs 3 small ones. Service was slow for some entrees.
Dorrego’s exceeded all expectations. The beet and arugula salad, freshly prepared paella, salmon, and flan were perfectly prepared and delicious to the last bite. Combine that with attentive service, a stylish interior, and free valet parking at The Valencia and Dorrego’s instantly became a place we definitely want to try again soon.
Poor acoustics and direct sun radiating through window in evening.
Beautiful decor, excellent service, and good food. The empanadas were delicious, as was the carpaccio. Unfortunately, the smallest steak was 14oz so I had the risotto instead. It would be great to have a smaller steak available. The dessert was mediocre, the pie crust was rubbery and the filling was bland. However, i would strongly recommend this restaurant!
Nice restaurant, good service. Food was very enjoyable and favorable. We enjoyed the bread, the empanadas and our main courses.
We had a wonderful time. The food was great, waitress was very sweet, helpful, & attentive to our needs. This was our second visit there and we'd go again.
Roberto was delightful, knowledgable about the menu and provided good recommendations.
Avoid at all costs!
I had the risotto and it was extremely salty. My husband told me to send it back but we were in a rush so I did not. Normally love this place so was a bummer...
Restaurant was nice, waiter was very friendly. Dishes were bland an lackluster.
Nice dinner experience. Brianna did a wonderful job. We were a group of six. Service was great. Paella was good as well as the empanadas. We will definitely be back.
Everyone in our party enjoyed meal. I had paella and it was not great. Rice was burned and not much in the way of the seafood or meats! We would go again but would not order paella.
Dorrego's was a great experience, our first time there. Service, food, and atmosphere were all impeccable. We really had an enjoyable evening, thanks to our terrific server.
Appetizer and salad were great but both the entrees ordered were over cooked and mediocre. Very high price tags for average food.
Dorrego’s was a hidden gem inside the @HotelValenciaRW that had an awesome daily $10 menu. Yesterday, I was bummed to learn they had decommissioned that menu while subsequently raising prices across the board. Maybe that explains why we were the only patrons in the restaurant.
Great experience!!! We are in San Antonio for a family girls trip with 3 generations. The service, food and accommodations were wonderful! And they were so kind to my 7 year old daughter.
Service is apauling. .....................................................................
Especially good if you're going to a performance at the Majestic or Empire Theatres. Excellent location for that!
Beautiful space inside a beautiful restored hotel. Everything was top notch, specially the cuts of meat and desserts.
The service was exceptional in every way...from our server to the chef! Due to the menu choice I ordered being unavailable, the chef created a special dish for me. It was exceptionally delicious! The only reason for the food rating of 4 stars is the limited menu. The staff made every to attempt to make our anniversary special! I definitely recommend.
The Mother's day brunch left a lot to be desired. This is an Argentinean restaurant, there was only American food. It is as if an expensive $60/person Hyatt version of breakfast was served. The serve staff was not familiar with the menu, my dish was not correct and overcooked. Very dissapointing...
Went for Mother's Day "brunch buffet". turns out only the appetizers and dessert were a buffet and you can order from a limited menu. From the moment we got there, we were ignored. There were at most 6 other parties in the restaurant. After 10 minutes we got the hostess to help us. when or ever came, only 3 of the 4 we ordered came or and after 5 minutes we had to ask about the last plate. I guess it was missed because the chef was still making it and after 5 more minutes or came or. The food was very good but that's no way I'm going back.
Terrible. Advertised as a Mother’s Day brunch was not. Took over an hour to get food and in general terrible service. Only redeeming quality was management comping us due to terrible experience. Basically ruined our Mother’s Day.
I made my reservation on 03/31 for 05/11, and SPECIFICALLY requested a table instead of a booth... I got a booth, with the explanation "we're all booked up" ... I find it extremely difficult to believe that all tables were taken already 50 days in advance.
The waiter was completely disoriented, inattentive, and missing in action. Took our drink order, tried to convince us to order both appetizers and main course because it was theater night and they would be busy... our reservation was at 545pm because we wanted a leisurely dinner before we went to the aforementioned theater at 8pm... we had 2 hours for cocktails and dinner. He never came back after taking our drink order.
Thankfully BRIANNA saw our concern, and came to our rescue, taking over our table... er, booth... at my request. She was exceptional.
The full menu wasn't offered, reportedly because it was "theater night." I would skip Dorregos and find another option... especially if it's theater night. We won't be going back.
The $55 Texan Parrillada was more like a plate of fajitas... there was enough meat on the 2-3 person plate for at least 3 people. The server didn't remember what we ordered and seemed to be scattered... We were the only ones eating at 8PM on a Friday night.
Great food. Branzino was perfect. And the server was very attentive.
Enjoyed dinner with new found friends at the hotel. Food was very good.
My fish was perfectly cooked. However, it was so salty and I couldn’t eat the sweet potatoes because the amount of salt was burning my tongue.
Excellent food and ambiance. Our waiter was a bit curt initially, but he warmed up as the evening wore on.
The menu was
