Dorrego's @ Hotel Valencia Riverwalk
Hotel Valencia Riverwalk’s Executive Chef, Anthony Mesa draws his inspiration from the rich culinary heritage of Argentina. An extensive wine list will be a focal point for diners. The restaurant’s décor reflects the Spanish Colonial design and architectural heritage of Argentina, with a touch of Parisian bistro panache. Dorrego’s also features a new restaurant bar, and the welcoming space is ideal for gathering and lingering.
Dorrego’s appealing terrace features additional seating topped with comfortable Spanish/Mediterranean-style cushions. The terrace features numerous planter pots, which blend the space into its tranquil River Walk setting.
We were looking for an alternative to the Riverwalk tourist spots, and we found it. Dorrego is a bit off the beaten bath, but was a nice respite from the crowds. Food was fantastic. Service was attentive without being overbearing.
Very disappointing. I should have known better than to order the gnocchi, but if a restaurant is putting it in the menu, it should be better than rick hard dough balls with raw vegetables. On a positive note, the music was great.
Great service; cuisine is Argentinian based with nouveau stylings. Ambience was upscale and I had memories of past meals in Colombia and Bolivia while sitting in the dining room. The dulce de leche cheesecake was sumptuous and memorable! Worth checking out is the cabinet of plastic oranges signed by famous visitors!
Pricey place to eat for what is served. I got flank steak for $25. Good taste but not high quality meat. Very chewy.
Service. For both the meal and breakfast our server was friendly but seemed to be new and inexperienced. Looks like if a restaurant is trying to be higher end then have great servers. I felt we got the B or C level server.
I can't believe we waited this long to try Dorregos. Should have a long time ago. Great food and young servers to take care of your every need. We will be back very soon.
An old tired hotel restaurant. The delicious branzino could save the slow service (10 minutes for our cocktails?) our appetizers out 15 minutes later than a diner who had just shown up.... that's all the time I will give this review.
Yesenia the bartender makes great drinks! Loved her Mezcal Paloma.
Members of our party had the parrillada, quail dish and empanadas. Everyone was happy with their choice of meal. Service was very good.
Lunch with friends pre-theatre show. Perfect
Great service and excellent steak medallions but a bit of a limited menu and somewhat noisy.
food was overpriced, me and my guest felt it was slightly bland flavors the evening we went. a few of our orders were forgotten or delivered to the wrong table .
it was my girlfriends birthday and they gave her a piece of cake to go but never asked her what flavor she liked. they gave us chocolate and she is not a fan of chocolate. they tried. maybe it was an off night
We enjoyed the lively atmosphere and unique decor. We were dining with someone who lived in Argentina and we would like to see more of an Argentinian influence on the menu. The food we ordered was tasty. Our waiter, Michael, was very attentive! Overall, a good night out!
Food was very delicious and fresh! The staff was very attentive and polite.
Theater tickets to the Majestic. We gave ourselves plenty of time to sit back and enjoy. Our cocktails were splendid! Everything was wonderful just ran out of water and had to ask for refills. I tried the short rib ravioli... waiter suggested something different; let’s just say I’ll take the waiters suggestion next time.😉 can’t hold that against him. I’m still glad I tried it though. The ribeye was perfect. This was husband’s selection.
We’ll definitely return!
The food and ambiance was outstanding. Michael, our server, made the meal even better.
We arrived a little early but were seated promptly. Server was helpful and attentive. Very nice place!
More expensive than google indicated. Food was delicious.
Waited 40 minutes from order until drinks were delivered. Spent nearly 3 hours to get one app and a meal.
No dessert as who would have known how long it would take.
Great hotel and an amazing food and outstanding service at the Dorrego’s inside the hotel Valencia. Will definitely be back and I highly recommend it.
This place was amazing. Really great food and wonderful service. We were there for my husband‘s birthday. Several of us had the gnocchi that’s made in house. The flavors were wonderful. They brought fresh bread before and during the meal. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice. Good location. I would definitely go back
Caesar salad was Ok, wine was good and the short rib ravioli couldn't be found intact in a sea of red sauce. the service was, however superb! lovely young woman was very good. Live guitar was a nice touch. My first try, so maybe I'll give it another... Location was good for Tobin Center.
Food was great. They were understaffed so service was not good.
Because of reviews we made reservations. We ordered steaks and asked them to be medium rare. unfortunately all of them were medium. We did not report this, since we were on a time constraint
One of the best manhattans I've ever had. The empanadas were great too. As we approached showtime our server politely asked if we would like to expedite the bill in a professional way without rushing us out the door.
Bar was very good. Great HH prices
Restaurant service slow. Waitress agrumentative very condescending
Got manager and he was extremely helpful and responsive Be careful steals tended to be over cooked
Love this restaurant will continue coming back! Order the tenderloin medallions you won’t regret it.
Fantastic food and happy hour drinks were awesome.
We love it!! We had the steak parrillada and it was really good! Also, really good cocktails ;) thank you!!
Michael was a wonderful server. He was attentive and helpful. Our meal was excellent and the atmosphere were quiet and romantic.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner, complete with complimentary champagne! Food was excellent, and service was fantastic!
The food and environment were great. Service was a bit slow (waving down for refills and such).
Theatre night. Great dinner
Superb service by Michael; he waited my table 2 out of five dinners over the past 6 weeks. Food differs. My last two Occasions were scrumptious.
The food was so delicious and the service was great!
When I asked the maî·tre d'hô·tel about the late delivery of our food and we would miss the opening of the show (When politely asked by our server during our order whether we were going to the show and we said "yes") she replied that the kitchen was stressed by room service orders. Note the period.
Wrong reply! She should have said: "I will check on your order" and left to do so, and returning with a status report.
We ran out of time for desert and arrived just as the show was beginning.
We had an absolutely wonderful evening at Dorrego's after a concert at the Tobin. I have read the reviews that said that the service was horrible, but that was certainly NOT true for us. Our server was Carlie, and she was knowledgeable and totally professional. She let us know when to expect our food and checked with us regularly during the meal without hovering or being annoying. And, the food was absolutely delicious -- with a steak that was cooked to perfection. It was, all and all, an outstanding dining experience.
San Antonio's only Argentinian restaurant and in my favorite hotel in the city! Food terrific, ambiance amazing and service first class. This is a first find for all your dinner needs -- on the river and downtown and for all San Antonioans. Make a point to visit. You will love it.
The wait staff is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The food was beautifully presented and delicious! I think it’s a must go to spot... perfect distance to the theatre.
The food was good, but the service was horrific. So bad, in fact, that I can never return. We sat with empty water glasses, no bread, no appetizer, for 40 minutes. The waiter "couldn't find" the bottle of wine we ordered. Twice.
The food came out so slowly that we had to gulp it down in order to make it to our show at the Majestic. I suggest you skip it. It's not worth it, there's much better places to go. Huge disappoint.
The Hotel Valencia is expensive and nice. Its restaurant was rated 4 and a half stars and is also expensive. But for some reason on the Saturday we stayed at the hotel and ate in Dorrego, there were only 2 people waiting tables as well as having to show guests to their table. Service was slow, but our food was served warm. My steak was partially over cooked. Our server was nice and accommodating and worked very hard. There was just too much for 2 people to do. I chalk it up to management error.
