Can’t figure out why it wasn’t busier in the restaurant. Great decor. Food was excellent. The calamari was maybe the best I’ve had. My vegetable risotto was delicious and everyone else liked their meals. Will definitely be back
Wow. The reason this place is so special to me is because I had my bachelorette dinner here. The food was ok! I would say middle of the road-high end. BUT the reason why we loved it so much was the service - it was excellent! And the drinks were yummy. And...before we left to go clubbing our server told us to come back later for the speakeasy. We did and it was a blast!!!! The DJ was so good!!!!
Great food. Staff was professional and v nice. Cocktails, wine, food and dessert were all good. Unusual to find this combo of good food and service and consistency.
We had a great dinner prior to seeing a show, restaurant was very nicely appointed and service was awesome. I highly recommend the charcuterie board as an appetizer, the Ahi Tuna salad was delicious as well.
We will be back!
One of the most interesting dining games experiences ever. Food was very good. However, wait staff and manager were the most incompetent I have ever seen. There were diners that were never waited on and left the restaurant. All staff were confused on who ordered what and running around trying to calm diners down. Will not go back
By far the worst service I’ve had in a long time. We arrived on time and there were not many in the restaurant. We ordered the special and as expected the crowd started to come. It took over an hour for our food to even arrive. We were told the kitchen messed up the order. Several other customers must have had the same problem as they just walked out. We were told our bill would be at 50% off since we had waited so long. Our food came out and the steak my date ordered was chewy and tough. The Swiss chard was bitter and undercooked. We told the manager we were so disappointed and they could keep the rest of the order and the check. I will not go back!
Food was amazing. The chef personally came out to see how everything was. Flavor was great and it came out very hot which I love.
Excellent staff and very accommodating. Great food and drinks!
The ambience was a bit strange, there were very bright lights on shining down on us. I had made a reservation for my birthday and there was nobody there but one other party and we had to ask for our drinks several different times. The food all came out at different times, and was not of great quality for the price. I would not recommend this place for large parties.
Beautiful restaurant and very nice staff. BUT they could not get it together with our reservation. I booked well in advance for 16 people and they kept insisting we called to adjust our numbers. It was the other large party who called. Food was ok, salads had stale pecans, which ultimately left a bad taste in your mouth so we sent it back. Service was slow, never got any refills on water after asking several times. They basically asked us to rush our dinner because they had a private event at 8pm, we got there at 6pm. Not really any time to spend with our group and kind of rude that they didn’t let us know in advance. Could have gone somewhere else and actually enjoyed our dinner.
This could have been one of the worst meals I have had in quite some time. Although the restaurant is attractive and the service was ok, the food, even when sent back, was not good and expensive.
The bruschetta apps were tiny one little piece alone on the plate. The fried calamari was under cooked and lacked much flavor.
Two guests ordered the shrimp scampi pasta. We sent it back to have the pale shrimp cooked more. It came back not looking much better. The pasta was watery and over cooked. The salmon was served with three small pieces of vegetables so the presentation was very poor. The tuna salad had so much pale frisee heaped in it had to be removed in order to eat the rest of the salad.
We had no drinks and I must say the water service was the best thing all night. With tip this drink free meal cost over $65/couple.
We will not be returning.
Great new hidden gem in old town
The restaurant is impeccably decorated. The service was excellent. The staff bent over backward to accommodate our dietary needs. The food was delicious. Dorian is now on our top 3 list of best brunch places. Sorry Eggery....you've been bumped.
We went to Dorian for Arizona Restaurants Week. The $44 menu was average - disappointing that entrees did not include any side dish. The chocolate and blonde brownie was overcooked / crispy, and did not seem to have a blonde brownie piece. Our server was good. But we were really surprised when our entrees were brought to our table (by someone else) while we were maybe halfway finished with appetizers. The unacceptable explanation was that the kitchen was trying to get going on a 16-person party that ordered just after us.
Design and ambiance of the restaurant was nice! Service was good in terms of greeting and seating us. Timing was poorly executed and it was random when our server would check on us. There was a wait for our food, which we expected being in party of 6 and it being restaurant week. The wait for dessert was ridiculously long. When it came the icecream was already pretty melted and we had to ask and wait awhile for eating utensils. We had to hunt someone down to get our bill and it took forever for our bill. It took 2.5 hours in all.
O boy, I so wanted this to be a good experience.
We waited forever to be served. Our server was very pleasant and apologized several times for the delay in sending out food etc.
The food is just OK. Fixed menu for Arizona Restaurant week. Nothing special about the food her.
But the service was awful. Dinner took forever to bring out.
- they were out of calamari, then they had calamari.
We won't be back. Avoid.
Ate dinner with a group of 12. Took 2 hours to get our food and it came out at completely different times.
The restaurant didnt seem prepared for restaurant week. Staff wasnt familiar with drink menu. Special menu for restaurant week had chicken but when asked about how it was prepared they said they werent sure because they dont have it on their main menu. Our appetizer took over 30 minutes and the main course came out within 5 min of the appetizer. Desserts were really good. Nice unique drink flavors.
We loved our time at the Dorian. The food was fantastic- staff was personable and so kind. After our dinner, we were shown the “secret entrance” to the bar next door. We had so much fun eating here- would definitely recommend for groups of any size!
It was a wonderful birthday dinner! Everything was exceptional. I was only sad because the server promised me a glass of champagne for my birthday, and they never game me one.
We were so happy with our service and food. Kevin came to check on us many times and we appreciated it! We will be back.
Among the best steaks and best salads we have ever had even though we have traveled and dined within and oustisde the U.S. for many years.
Beyond that, the personal service and ambiance was phenomenal. Particular Kudos go to the manager who extended himself to ensur ethat we had a great experience with a personal touch that evidences his true professionalism and commitment to excellence.
We would and will absolutely recommend Dorain to anyone and everyone. They will not be disappointed.
Really nice looking restaurant. Went for brunch. It was about 50% full. Seemed about one staff member low, but they mentioned they get a light brunch crowd normally, so that may be a reason. Food was tasty and good value for the price and location. Will definitely consider going again!
Husbands birthday, was quick to accommodate our party of 12 and it was a beautiful!!!
