Doppio Zero - Mountain View
Definitely a good restaurant to visit. But wouldn’t really recommend it for an official meal as it can get a bit too noisy. I found it hard to hear the conversation at times because of the noise. If it isn’t too hot outside, I’d recommend taking outdoor seating.
The food and service are just lovely and was reasonably priced
The food and service was great. I made the reservation 3 days before and told them to add a special note for dessert but the server did not know anything about it. This was supposed to be a surprise for my friend but I had to ask the server about my request and then he comes to me after talking to the front desk, tells me that they cannot wrote any notes or anything for the dessert. Totally unprofessional, they should have told me about this when I made the reservation.
We had a 6PM reservation on a Thursday evening - was surprised to see how busy the restaurant was so early, several large parties, very active bar scene. Started with two appetizers, the shrimp & calamari - very tasty and served with a light marinara sauce. Second app was the burrata served with eggplant and arugula - very fresh and delicious. We ordered the fried calzone to split as our main entre - the dish was listed as the house specialty. We were a little disappointed, the crust seemed underdone and soggy. The fillings were tasty. On our next visit we'll try one of the pizzas - which looked really good.
I made a reservation via open table, but when I got there the restaurant did not have it
Now I get these emails asking how it was when I didn’t get to go
Good food and great service. Was a bit loud though!
The service was quick once we ordered. Oddly, only one of us ordered pizza. The lasagne eaters and the ravioli eater were both very pleased. My pizza Margherita was authentic if a bit under-salted. As authentic as they obviously strive to be, my pizza was still served sliced. I had thought maybe they’d serve it as the Italians do—unsliced. The restaurant was almost unbearably loud: my companions and I had to lean in and really speak loudly, slowly, and clearly to hear and understand each other. Parking in downtown MV on a Friday night is a disaster at best but I did finally luck out after only ten minutes. Overall: lovely food, attentive staff; I’ll be back, but I’ll ask for salt and an uncut crust. And maybe I’ll bring my earplugs and leave my aging parents at home.
Tried this place for the first time on Friday June 14, dinner for 5 people. Food was excellent--we had the Salmone alla Griglia, Wild Board fettuccini, and the seafood stew (Frutti di Mare?). The three of us all loved our entrees. My cousin and her husband also had the salmon and I don't remember their other dish. (They didn't seem super impressed with their food and didn't say anything positive or negative about it.) My daughter had the limoncello dessert and said it was just okay, but she loved her seafood stew. And the bread was also delicious.
Service was good. Restaurant was full and moderately noisy, but it's downtown Castro Street in Mountain View on a Friday, so I imagine a lot of restaurants were full and noisy. (In fact we tried first to go to Doppio Zero near Cupertino Main Street, but they didn't have any available tables before 9pm.)
We definitely plan to come back to either this location of the one in Cupertino!
I've been here many times and been content with the overall restaurant. Unfortunately we had the head spell this past week where it was over 100 degrees. Unfortunately this restaurant does not have air conditioning so it made it uncomfortable. Not sure what happened with cold water but there was no ice. My pizza was burned on the bottom. I was not about to complain bc I just wanted to be done. The temperature of the room was so warm. I will go back bc it is usually better.
Delicious Neapolitan pizza made by a great pizzaiolo certified by the AVPN. We tried a red and white which were both great. It was over 100 degrees F. in Mountain View, so even with the AC on, it was still warm in the restaurant. I guess a 900 degree oven emits a fair amount of heat :). We went for pizza so did not try any of the other menu items. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Service was very attentive. Wine prices are a high, so we brought our own and paid corkage. We'll be back.
Food is always good
Service was mediocre last time but this time the waitress was very good
We enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend or go back
I had the fried calamari and shrimp small plate, absolutely delicious! The calamari included both rings and tentacles (which i enjoy so much more than the rings), the shrimp were tender and juicy, and the seasoning on these, as well as the vegetables, was just perfect. I saw no reason to use the cocktail sauce, it would have overwhelmed the flavor. My compliments to the chef, I will be back.
Had a lovely meal! I had the octopus, ravioli and tiramisu. All were delicious. I sat outside, so that made it even nicer.
Sat close to the bar, and bar patrons were particularly loud.
Savory and different small bites and yummy pizza flavors. I enjoyed the adult beverages, the kind service, and very welcoming and fun host who greeted us on a busy Friday night. Will absolutely dine here again soon.
Great food; quick and friendly service.
Always good with the best pizza around and excellent service. Our go to pizza restaurant.
Very loud and ok variety, mostly pizza. We were actually unimpressed with the pasta choices. The pizza was decent but expect no sauce on either red or white choices. Eggplant and meatballs are tasty. Wouldn't return due to noise level.
Excellent Italian restaurant.
I keep recommending it to my colleagues and I always get positive feedback.
Good wine paring to the savoury pizza is an amazing experience. Cold dish cauliflower, raisin with pine nut is specious combination. Tiramisu is so delicious. Will come again.
Excellent food and service, great location. Only small gripe was it was a bit on the loud side for our group conversation.
Food was good, not outstanding but priced for outstanding in mountain view. Service was aloof. We might be back since we wanted to try more dishes though.
If you like authentic Italian cuisine, check out Doppio Zero! Best pizza I’ve had in a long time. Perfect crust! Sam Mariano tomatoes and delicious burrata cheese. The real deal! Pasta was cooked perfectly el dente which seems to be rare at so-called Italian restaurants. Can’t wait to return! Ciao!
Great lasagna. Waiter did a great job servicing us.
One of the best pieces of salmon that I have ever had.
Since they sold a few months back, the place has gone DOWNHILL. Meal was “ok” or worse, burnt and served in a cracked dish. Same dish I had there months ago, and vastly different quality. Waiter rushed the hell out of us, wait staff pulled plates of guests the MOMENT each of us finished. Tried to pull the bread and olive oil and I said “we’re not finished.” The food, for its quality, is quite overpriced. Won’t go back.
We ate outdoors and it was lovely. The quinoa salads were delish, as were the calamari and pizza. The pans cottage was great but the Limoncello sponge cake was unbelievable! Soooo delicious.
Every time we go to Mountain View, this is our favorite spot - and it NEVER disappoints. The drinks are inventive, the food delicious and always of high quality.
They have the best Grilled Octopus salad. Service was great!!
we had an Awesome time
We had the octopus appetizer, the squid ink seafood pasta, and salami pizza. All 3 were excellent. It was our first time to the restaurant and it turned out to be much more casual than expected. Not a bad thing, in fact it would be a great place to bring a family for a good quality Italian meal.
Noisy, but that is to be expected in a bustling pizzaria.
Our favorite restaurant in Mountain View! Best pizza and salads by far! Love it!
Awesome as usual
Really excellent food, busy and noisy but fine, felt a bit rushed with service, price a bit on high side
Birthday celebration w friends. DZ is our go to place for pasta!
It was last Friday. The food quality is very good and the service is very attentive and knowledgeable. It is always a pleasure to dine here.
The salmon dish is overpriced. I told clearly to the waiter I don’t want green beans and tomatoes on my dish. They did it anyway.
However, if you love pizzas, they have good selection of them.
Squid ink pasta and truffle oil pizza were delicious. I will definitely go again
In the open table app it gave us the option to reserve outdoor seating which we selected since the weather was supposed to be gorgeous that day. When we arrived at the restaurant 10 mins before our reservation and gave our name they said that if we wanted to sit outside there was a group ahead of us and it would be another 45 minutes.
What was the point of making the reservation for outside if it was going to take an extra 45 minutes? We were going to bring our dog but decided not to at the last minute and good thing too since we ended sitting inside so we could still keep our reservation time.
The food is always good here but honestly this isn't the first time we've gone here and felt the service was lacking so probably wont go again and just order to go.
Food was great. Server wasn’t very good.
