Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Don't Tell Aunty offers a "lively and energetic atmosphere" with "amazing" kale chaat and okra fries. While some dishes are "inventive," others need refinement. The service is friendly yet can be slow, and the music is often "too loud." It's a trendy spot great for "creative fusion food" and cocktails.

Service was really bad, 4 different people asked for an order, they didn’t serve drinks until the end we had to ask for it. The food was below average. Also, they missed serving one of the drinks, and when we paid the bill they came with rumali roti stating Did you get rumali roti?

Delicious and inventive food, nice ambience. As others have mentioned, service was a bit lacking (2nd person's main arrived 10 minutes after 1st person's, took a while to flag a server down for a 2nd round of drinks).

Great vibe! Found the main dishes to be a bit too sweet but the appetizers were amazing. Highly recommend the kale chaat.

Music was way too loud. Aunty could have had it at 1/2 where it was and it would have been the energetic, young vibe they may have been looking for. Service was really not very good. Lots of different people came to the table, dishes weren't cleared. I don't see it lasting long. They won't reach a broader clientelle unless Aunty turns down the volume and picks up the pace on service.

The food was good and spicy and a bit unique for the area. The cocktails were overpriced and it was way too loud to have a conversation. I think they need to work on the service as they try and push you out in 90 minutes but the orders take a long time to come out. The service staff was very nice and professional. I think they just need to work on timings.… And please turn down the music.

It was an ok experience. I feel lots of room for improvement in such a great space and location with limited competition in Boston!

I’m giving Don’t Tell Aunty a solid 3 out of 5. The food was actually really great—we were dining with an Indian friend who confirmed the flavors were on point and authentic, which definitely says a lot. The drinks were also good, and the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. Making a reservation was super easy, which I appreciated. That said, the experience was a little disappointing on the service side. As soon as we sat down, we were told we only had 90 minutes, which is fine if the service is quick and efficient. Unfortunately, it took quite a while for someone to bring us waters and to take our order. It just felt a little off—if you're going to limit dining time, the staff should be prompt from the start. At the end of our meal, they politely but firmly asked us to leave because another party was waiting, which made us feel rushed. Nobody wants to feel like they’re being pushed out, especially when the service wasn’t exactly fast to begin with. Also, as expected in Boston, parking can be tricky—there’s very limited street parking and garages nearby can be pricey. Overall: ✔️ Great food ✔️ Good drinks ✔️ Nice vibe ✔️ Easy reservations ❌ Slow service ❌ Rushed at the end ❌ Tough parking Would I go back? Maybe, but I’d go knowing I’m on a tight clock and I’d hope the service matches that pace.

Veronica, we appreciate your honest breakdown. While we’re glad the food and drinks were hits, we’re taking your notes on pacing and communication to heart. Your feedback is gold—and yes, we’re working on syncing that clock with care.

A perfectly fine average restaurant with average food and cocktails. Prices are high for what you get.
    Don’t Tell AuntyResponded on June 16, 2025
Oh no, Ari — “perfectly fine” isn’t the kind of mischief we’re aiming for! We definitely want every bite and sip to feel worth the price and more. Your honest feedback is heard loud and clear — we’re always working behind the scenes to turn fine into fantastic.
