Haven’t been there in 40 years and it was still as great as it was then. The food was fabulous. The service was great. Can’t wait to go again.
Food & service excellent. The man seating our group was especially rude to me. I got there a bit early to change the number of people from 6 to 7. He was very unpleasant and said I should have called first. I will not be going back there ever.
We came here for my husband's birthday. My husband had the Steak Oscar, which was cooked perfectly! I ordered the scallops, and they were good sized, and perfectly seared. Everything was delicious! We opted for the house cabernet, because we had champagne waiting for us at home. We thought it was good - please note that we are not wine snobs at all. But there are so many wines available at Don's. The only thing was that when I had made the reservation on Open Table, I had noted that it was for a birthday, and in the past, we had received a complimentary Chocolate Mousse. I was expecting that on this occasion, but it did not happen, nor was there any mention at all about the birthday. It's better that it not be asked, if nothing is to be acknowledged. We still enjoyed our dinner, and wouldn't hesitate to go back again. Such a gem!
It was very enjoyable. Food was well prepared and tasty. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back!
Had a lovely dinner on a Sunday evening in celebration of our wedding anniversary. It was our first visit to Don's Lighthouse, and certainly won't be our last.
The restaurant was quiet, the food and service excellent.
Always a pleasure to dine there. Had many meals there but never a bad one.
Wonderful food service and atmosphere - went while in town after reading reviews online. Quality and value exceeded expectations!
Everything from start to finish was excellent. Cocktails, appetizers, the bread & butter, wine, entrees and dessert had no complaints or criticism whatsoever. We were celebrating an adult son's birthday & he was thrilled with his walleye as a fisherman. Steak, lobster, crab, shrimp were very good and well worth the price.
Nice dinner with well done American food and fine service. Crab cakes are top notch. Really busy early in the evening.
A little disappointed in the food and service. I had always heard that Don's had great food and service. One of our friend had the filet mignon. She had ordered it medium rare. It was over cooked to a medium well and chewy. She told our waitress and the waitress agreed it was over cooked. Sent it back. The second one came out the same as the first one. Over cooked.. On a positive note I did enjoy my Kobe meatloaf. Excellent
We had a great table. Nice server. We were the only ones in the place, I would have expected a bit more attentiveness.
Very nice evening for family. We enjoyed the food and the service.
This was a visit for restaurant week. This is one of our favorite places to dine for any occasion.
We went here for Cleveland Independents Restaurant Week. Their menu included a lobster tail dinner, which was excellent. Steak Oscar was on the menu and was also very good. As it was a Friday night during restaurant week, they were quite busy and service was was a little slow but our server was attentive. Complimentary valet parking is a plus.
I always wanted to go eat there so I had my chance we loved it will be back soon with a few friends.
Excellent food and service. Nice atmosphere in the dining area. Great deserts.
I wanted to try something a little different to celebrate my husband's birthday with his mom. It has a vibe that is a little older, in part due to the architecture of the building. We were promptly seated when we arrived, and our server appeared quickly. She took a drink order and brought us bread. The wine list is good, and they have a full bar. Our shrimp cocktail appetizer was so-so, but the rest of the dinner was above average. I got scallops, and they were served over a delicious veggie puree. I asked for a booth, and we got one, but the seats were a little close to the table, like they had tried to cram in a booth where there really wasn't room. Our server was pleasant, but in my opinion, stretched a bit thin. She had our whole section, and although they had helpers doing the water refills, I was amazed when she was the one that carried out our entrees - the tray had to be at least 18 pounds. She was pleasant and attentive throughout our meal. There was not music blaring, and we could hear each other talk, which is a BIG plus in my book. Overall, a good experience.
Very consistent and enjoyable
Wonderful dining experience! This was our first time here (Restaurant Week) but we'll be back! Food, service & atmosphere delightful!!
Tables are very close and everything feels packed together, which made it very loud. I must admit, I was a little surprised; my food was just "ok". I had the salmon and the flavors that the chef put together for the dish are not very complimentary. I am not crazy as someone else at my table had the same dish and felt exactly that same. Stuffed mushrooms were good and the champagne sorbet was AWESOME! Overall, ok place that has been around forever. A shame that the view from our table that looked out the door to the lake was covered by potted greenery??? Service was nice and very well versed on the food and drink menu, which was a plus!
Our server was wonderful and absolutely made our occasion so memorable.
After all theses years Don's still doesn't disappoint! Great service, great seafood.
Calamari had no taste and wasn’t real. Blacken grouper was not blackened and my husbands potaatoes were cold. Way too expensive for what we ate.
Four of us out to try their RW offerings. A very generous menu. Twofold us had steak, one.herbed chicken and lastly, off the menu, surf and turf. I had the chicken, a half chicken in a slightly spicy, savory sauce, delicious! Tasted the steak, lightly seasoned and perfectly prepared to order.
Our server was delightful, attentive and friendly, seemed to love what she was doing.
Overall a very nice experience in a restaurant I pass by frequently but hadn’t visited in years. I’ll be back.
My friend had monkfish which he liked. I had the Delmonio steak which was just ok. Nothing special about it. Could have made it at home. Expensive for what you get.
Our server went above and beyond making my sister’s birthday lunch very special. Thoughtful, attentive and perfectly timed.
Don's remains one of Cleveland's better choices for dining in the city.
Good service, food is very good, and there is value, too. Nice atmosphere, free parking and the restaurant's location make it a winner!
The escargot and crab cakes are probably the best around. The beef tenderloins melted in your mouth. A Saturday 7:30 reservation was very crowded in the restaurant and in the bar but we were seated immediately and in spite of the crowd the service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive to our party of 4. The wine list is fairly extensive. Don's Lighthouse can be quite expensive in my opinion, but definitely worth at least one visit.
Great place to take a nice date. Made reservations ahead of time. When we arrived a perfect table for two next to the window was ready for us. Could not have been better. Food was excellent and so was the wine.
Food was great. And our server was lovely. She just wasn’t as attentive as I would have hoped.
We went here for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The server we had was very nice and informative. I had the seared tuna, and my boyfriend had the king crab legs. Both were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also had some apple pie a la mode for dessert. We cannot wait to come back for happy hour!
Always a good effort for the customer. The variety helps the customer when it is a family dinner.
It had been a long time since we were at Don's. Had good memories and weren't disappointed.
Highly recommend as a place if you are looking for seafood.
Great lunch. Everything I was told was true. Will be back
After seeing a play at the Beck Center, we intend on trying area restaurants but usually end up going back to Don's Lighthouse Grille because it's always so dependable as far as the food, service and especially the familiar ambience. Atmosphere is warm and comfortable.
Don's is a favorite place. Food is fine, straightforward, and generally a good value. I very much like their fish fry and wedge lettuce. My wife enjoys their crab cake. Their mussels are very very good. Drinks are generous and very much appreciated. We'll be back.
Food was on point! Our waiter Brian was great. We were celebrating our 22nd anniversary and I was looking for good food and a great place. Found it and highly recommend it. The lobster bisque was amazingly good!
Kitchen backed up service wasn’t was in past.
We had a few issues with our meals, but the way they ha does it was above anything we could imagine! We will go back because of the excellent service.
