I wanted to try something a little different to celebrate my husband's birthday with his mom. It has a vibe that is a little older, in part due to the architecture of the building. We were promptly seated when we arrived, and our server appeared quickly. She took a drink order and brought us bread. The wine list is good, and they have a full bar. Our shrimp cocktail appetizer was so-so, but the rest of the dinner was above average. I got scallops, and they were served over a delicious veggie puree. I asked for a booth, and we got one, but the seats were a little close to the table, like they had tried to cram in a booth where there really wasn't room. Our server was pleasant, but in my opinion, stretched a bit thin. She had our whole section, and although they had helpers doing the water refills, I was amazed when she was the one that carried out our entrees - the tray had to be at least 18 pounds. She was pleasant and attentive throughout our meal. There was not music blaring, and we could hear each other talk, which is a BIG plus in my book. Overall, a good experience.
Very consistent and enjoyable
Wonderful dining experience! This was our first time here (Restaurant Week) but we'll be back! Food, service & atmosphere delightful!!
Tables are very close and everything feels packed together, which made it very loud. I must admit, I was a little surprised; my food was just "ok". I had the salmon and the flavors that the chef put together for the dish are not very complimentary. I am not crazy as someone else at my table had the same dish and felt exactly that same. Stuffed mushrooms were good and the champagne sorbet was AWESOME! Overall, ok place that has been around forever. A shame that the view from our table that looked out the door to the lake was covered by potted greenery??? Service was nice and very well versed on the food and drink menu, which was a plus!
Our server was wonderful and absolutely made our occasion so memorable.
After all theses years Don's still doesn't disappoint! Great service, great seafood.
Calamari had no taste and wasn’t real. Blacken grouper was not blackened and my husbands potaatoes were cold. Way too expensive for what we ate.
Four of us out to try their RW offerings. A very generous menu. Twofold us had steak, one.herbed chicken and lastly, off the menu, surf and turf. I had the chicken, a half chicken in a slightly spicy, savory sauce, delicious! Tasted the steak, lightly seasoned and perfectly prepared to order.
Our server was delightful, attentive and friendly, seemed to love what she was doing.
Overall a very nice experience in a restaurant I pass by frequently but hadn’t visited in years. I’ll be back.
My friend had monkfish which he liked. I had the Delmonio steak which was just ok. Nothing special about it. Could have made it at home. Expensive for what you get.
Our server went above and beyond making my sister’s birthday lunch very special. Thoughtful, attentive and perfectly timed.
Don's remains one of Cleveland's better choices for dining in the city.
Good service, food is very good, and there is value, too. Nice atmosphere, free parking and the restaurant's location make it a winner!
The escargot and crab cakes are probably the best around. The beef tenderloins melted in your mouth. A Saturday 7:30 reservation was very crowded in the restaurant and in the bar but we were seated immediately and in spite of the crowd the service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive to our party of 4. The wine list is fairly extensive. Don's Lighthouse can be quite expensive in my opinion, but definitely worth at least one visit.
Great place to take a nice date. Made reservations ahead of time. When we arrived a perfect table for two next to the window was ready for us. Could not have been better. Food was excellent and so was the wine.
Food was great. And our server was lovely. She just wasn’t as attentive as I would have hoped.
We went here for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The server we had was very nice and informative. I had the seared tuna, and my boyfriend had the king crab legs. Both were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also had some apple pie a la mode for dessert. We cannot wait to come back for happy hour!
Always a good effort for the customer. The variety helps the customer when it is a family dinner.
It had been a long time since we were at Don's. Had good memories and weren't disappointed.
Highly recommend as a place if you are looking for seafood.
Great lunch. Everything I was told was true. Will be back
After seeing a play at the Beck Center, we intend on trying area restaurants but usually end up going back to Don's Lighthouse Grille because it's always so dependable as far as the food, service and especially the familiar ambience. Atmosphere is warm and comfortable.
Don's is a favorite place. Food is fine, straightforward, and generally a good value. I very much like their fish fry and wedge lettuce. My wife enjoys their crab cake. Their mussels are very very good. Drinks are generous and very much appreciated. We'll be back.
Food was on point! Our waiter Brian was great. We were celebrating our 22nd anniversary and I was looking for good food and a great place. Found it and highly recommend it. The lobster bisque was amazingly good!
Kitchen backed up service wasn’t was in past.
We had a few issues with our meals, but the way they ha does it was above anything we could imagine! We will go back because of the excellent service.
It has ben a while since I have dined at Don's and the time has not been good to them...tired overpriced menu...only slightly more positive portion of the evening was the service after they realized that we had been seated and waited for someone to acknowledge us...many wonderful new restaurants to choose from in Cleveland...probably won't return
Really enjoyed the $2.50 mussels, an outstanding value sure to bring us in again. My dinner guests who had recently vacationed along the New England coast were disappointed with the lobster roll, "they don't match up". Drinks were great, as was our waitress.
See you soon.
Don's is a real asset to our city. Its kitchen is reliable and boasts a versatile and practical menu. The seafood especially varies with the season and is treated with respect. In addition, Don's offers great service, valet parking, pleasant décor, and affordable prices.
It's hard to beat.
We've met friends and relatives there for years and have never been disappointed.
Long may Don's reign!
Still my favorite. Always excellent. Partugese seafood stew was outstanding.
Went to celebrate New Years Eve. Haven't been to Dons in several years. Had crab legs wife had lobster tail. Food was excellent. Expensive but considering the day not bad. Will be our special restaurant.
As always the food was yummy, our waitress (Terry) was terrific and a wonderful time was had by all.
Hadn't been to Don's Lighthouse in years. It was good to go back. We went for a post theater (matinee) dinner and had a very nice time. Great building, consistently good Don's restaurant food.
Excellent meal! From the spinach artichoke dip appetizer, to the French Onion soup, to the main course, everything was delicious! We sat at a booth near the bar & took advantage of happy hour appetizers/drinks, but also allowed us access to order off the full menu. Definitely recommend.
Service was wonderful!! Food was great, steaks were a little undercooked but still delicious!
Great time. Service was excellent.
First time customers and we were very delighted with our experience for our anniversary dinner. Our server Terry was on top of everything. Food was delicious and came out timely.
Service level does not match the price level. The food here is very good, but the service is lacking as well as the ambiance. We were seated in the backroom area which has a lower ceiling. This makes it very noisy in that area. Plus the tables are extremely close together which makes it difficult for the wait staff to get through without bumping into your chair. Some of the say excuse me, but others do not. When you make reservations ask for a booth.
We had dinner there last Saturday before going to a performance at Playhouse Square. Our waitress was AWESOME.....food was great and wine superb. Always a pleasure to dine at Don's Lighthouse.
Don's Lighthouse never ceases to amaze me. We have never had a bad meal at this wonderful restaurant. I hope that Don's never changes. We love it!
Excellent experience- Service was outstanding!
Menu options were diverse and presentation was very nice
EXCELLENT AMBIANCE, FOOD AND SERVICE AS ALWAYS.
ONE OF OUR FAVORITE GO TO RESTAURANTS FOR FISH AND SEAFOOD.
Don's has excellent food and service. Our waiter, Patty, was great and both my wife and I had a great meal. We will definitely return.
