As always, dining at Donna Mac was fabulous! Service, food and drink was wonderful and even my mother-in-law enjoyed herself immensely.
Disappointed. Not sure why all of the hype given the food. The service was good & it’s a cool place.
Food was not great. Calamari was not fresh, very chewy & lacked flavour. The quarter chicken was bland & the veggies were cold. Well below expectations. The paparadelle was cooked well. The meat was good, but the sauce was very sweet (way too sweet, dessert like) & had way too much cinnamon.
Great work - great meal - what a pleasure:-)
Always outstanding. Locally sourced, creative menu, healthy as possible.
Amazing venue, great service and food. Nice and quiet when we arrived at 5:15 (first in for dinner that day) but quickly enough energy to provide a great atmosphere while still being able to have a conversation. Loved everything we had from the menu, and although everything we wanted was already gluten free they did say the kitchen could modify other items if we were interested.
Very approachable. Service for everyone we encountered was pleasant and informative. Great food. Very cool space. Definitely a do over
The night started off great with a smiley host who was quick to greet us. This place is beautiful - tall ceilings, dramatic lighting and a trendy neutral colour pallet with simple finishings; Somehow I already knew it was going to be a fine night out.
Our server was equally kind and quick to greet us. She answered our menu questions easily and without a bunch of pretentiousness. We were even offered a little treat which we gobbled down.
Food was excellent - everything tasted better than I was expecting it too. Not that the menu didn't sound good - it had a great variety of easy to share food - but I wasn't expecting to love spicy cauliflower with pimento and bread with plums and cheese so much. We shared the Donna's Mac and Cheese, which was tasty AF but maybe a little too pricey and a little too skimpy on the bacon. I say that, but at the same time, it was one of the best mac and cheeses I've ever had. So... take that with a grain of salt.
Overall, I had a wonderful night out and made a good memory with someone special to me. And that's what a night out is all about, right?
Dinner with a friend Friday evening, September 7, 2018. First time to the restaurant and couldn't be happier. Our waiter, (Colwyn?) was lovely - just the right amount of attentive and charming. The food was innovative and fun - interesting flavours all-round. Our waiter indicated that 3 share plates should be enough, but we ordered 2 small share plates and 2 large. He was right - 3 would have been enough. The Heirloom Tomato Salad and Fried Cauliflower were AMAZING. What made them unique and delicious were the cashew mousse and pimento cheese whip, respectively, upon which the veggies were plated. We also had the Dungeness crab tagliatelle - fabulous- and the pork salad with cabbage, pear and chilli, (an Asian take that was great as well). There were many affordable wine offerings and the two cocktails we tried were refreshing and flavourful! We were hard-pressed to select a few items from a menu that honestly all looked appealing.
Amazing food, but fairly pricy. Their happy hour is an outrageous deal and the crullers are out of this world!
Lived up to big expectations while remaining entirely un-fussy. Definitely worth the hype.
Bright open atmosphere, excellent service, small menu but covered all the bases. Loved the fried cauliflower with spicy cheese dip. The cardamom peach upside down cake was delicious.
Loved the decor. Bright and cheerful. Our server was very efficient & cheerful.
We were left a little disappointed. The place itself had a good feel and the food was excellent but the portion sizes were a little small. Add in that the price (we ended up being $55/head inc tip for one course and two drinks), it was just too much for too little. $26 for a small portion of mac&cheese (even though it was one of the best I’ve had) is not competitive. If they lower the prices or increase the portion size I’d go back. Their whiskey sour was one of the best I’ve had in town to give them their due for that.
Amazing food, not a mediocre bite in all the things we ordered, from appetizers to mains to dessert. Highly recommended
Great Anniversary dinner. Thank you
Fantastic food!!! Loved everything!!! We had squid, tuna, chicken sandwiches, Mac and cheese, to name a few. We were with good friends who are bigger foodies then us and they loved it too:)
Restaurant was good, food was fine. It was very loud.
The food was creative and delectable!
We had a great ladies night out! The drinks were tasty, service was excellent and food was delicious. They easily accommodated for gluten free and vegetarian diners. We had multiple small plates and desserts and felt like we ate very well and the bill was reasonably priced. The food was interesting but still approachable. We were pleasantly surprised and would definitely come back!
I have been to Donna Mac numerous times and have enjoyed the reataurant each time. The space itself is really lovely and bright and the service was excellent. I really enjoyed the chicken sandwich and the pear and cabbage salad. I would definitely recommend.
Great little place, great service and great food! Love the local support and in-house ingredients..
Awesome porcini and Gouda doughnuts ! The server was great and we picked a lot Of items be suggested . Mac and cheese super creamy with the Burrata with a unique take.
We like the new menu. Approachable but interesting at the same time. Fairly priced wine and a decent selection of sharing and individual plates.
The dining at Donna Mac was absolutely flawless. It was my birthday yesterday and the whole experience was delicious, relaxing and held space for pure enjoyment. Jeff and the team have got their service on point! Thanks again for the delicious food and the warm atmosphere.
Enjoyed the bar snacks and small plates, found the entrees lacking, just ordinary, flavor lacking.
$26 for Mac and cheese seems like a lot to pay for the portion size. My daughter wanted another order but I just couldn't justify paying for another order!!!
Amazing food! Very creative and delish! My friend and I just shared a bar snack and two mains. Left very stuff and reasonably priced for the food and portion.
Server was amazing, booking was simple and generally just a great atmosphere for any occasion
Salad was excellent as was the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese is like no other, full of flavour. Salad was exceptional as well
My only food complaint was the size of the mac & cheese for the price, was small. I would have preferred to pay more and received more.
The place is quite loud even though there were only about 7 tables occupied. Take this into consideration if you want a quiet dinner
Excellent food and service and especially appreciate the vegetarian options as we don't eat meat or fish. Great restaurant in every way.
Loved the food on 2 occasions.
Not crazy about the happy hour choice of music; it was so loud in an uncrowded place that it was hard to hear our conversation. Luckily our server was kind enough to change it when I mentioned it.
First time visiting and we will definitely be back. My wife and I came for lunch and from the moment we walked in I just relaxed. Nice greeting at the door and beautifully decorated. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced.
This was a nice change from the usual chain restaurants.
Pretty good, would go back
We had such a wonderful girl's night dinner at Donna Mac. The food was absolutely amazing and our service was phenomenal!
Pretty setting, attentive service and delicious, savoury food!
Everything was too salty. We were so disappointed.
We had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday at Donna Mac. I’ll definitely bring others friends there and recommend this restaurant to others. Thank you.
The place has great ambience, and looks very casual. The food is great as well!
Excellent spot. Terrific people
Great taste, limited choices, a little too rich and heavy for us. Great service, fun vibe and excellent happy hour drinks and dog friendly patio.
First time dining, and won't be in a hurry to come back anytime soon.
We found the first 2 course we had, SALTY. Cauliflower dish, cheese crullers made you pucker up.
My friends cod dish came out undercooked, we notified our server and she asked if we liked a new one or just cook it bit more. We choose just cook it up, after 8 minutes went by the cod was re plated and served from what I think was the manager. No apology, no consideration to us that the fish was undercooked considerably, we were under the impression the kitchen was right and the guest was wrong. We ordered desserts to share, and found them like every other dish we ordered just "meh".
We received the bill paid for everything on it, including that fish dish, and got the heck outta there.
