Donaji is a restaurant in San Francisco that serves Oaxacan, Mexican cuisine. The restaurant is owned and operated by Chef Isai Cuevas, who is a native of Oaxaca, Mexico. Chef Isai serves up his two favorite things: Maiz in all of its forms alongside a blooming Mezcal program Highlighting Oaxacan Distilleries.

The menu at Donaji features a variety of Oaxacan dishes, including Mole, Tlayudas, and Incredible Enchiladas. We also have a Mexican Spirits Bar program with Oaxacan Mezcal at the Forefront along with some other eclectic Mexican Spirits, Mexican Wine and Local Beers.

    Our first time, we loved everything about this restaurant: service, food/drinks, presentation, vibe, lighting. The host/manager, server, and bartender were great! Great casual date night restaurant. Donaji is one of our new favorite restaurants in SF! We're already planning to introduce Donaji to our friends! Rico and Carey

    Re: noise: We sat at the parklet outside the restaurant's front door. The noise inside on a full Friday night is deafening!

    Excellent all around. From the minute we walked in we felt welcome. The Mahi Mahi tacos were great. My husband loved the short ribs mole and garlic fried potatoes. Nothing greasy at all. We will return.

    Pedro was an incredible server. Funny, engaging, and attentive despite how packed the restaurant was. Food was exceptional. Chicken con mole was incredibly juicy with a shatteringly-crisp skin. Also, don’t be afraid to try some grasshoppers! Lastly, this is a great place to try some high-end Tequila and Mezcal at very reasonable prices. Don’t miss out on the extensive beverage list!

    Superb mole! Also had a great time with the mezcal flights. Service was a little off kilter (one drink came, then all the apps, then a long wait, then drinks for the the next 3 of us, but the drinks were good, so....). Thought this was a really good value. 4 cocktails, 2 apps, 3 entrees, 2 plates of tacos, 1 dessert, 1 pitcher of beer, and all 3 (4?) flights of mezcal came to around $100 pp before tip. In this city, that's a steal. Ambiance was nice - paint and decor turned a rectangular space into something cozy and lively. Would go back!

    Always love this place. The staff is so welcoming it feels like you are a guest . The mole is very good with a touch of heat to balance the sweetness.
